In the first movie when Kevin bob and Stuart were travelling in the boat to New York, (The part where Stuart imagined Kevin and bob as bananas and tried eating them), Stuarts(Or another minions I kind of forgot sorry) stomach rumbled. And clearly bob pointed to his mouth in a way of asking food. So we can say that the minions do need food. Why did the "space minion" survive weeks without food and start Kevin and bob started hallucinating after a few day? - Well that is possibly just a mistake in the movie.
