It’s crazy how they thought they could get away with this

Before this saga, I didn't know about you or your channel, but you have gained a subscriber here. The way you have conducted yourself throughout this issue has been outstanding. They need to hire you as their spokesperson and head of customer relations. I am not and have never been a user of that software, so I have no skin in the game here, but the seemingly bullying tactics you have experienced have been shocking and unbelievably childish and petty. It was a shame that they felt they needed to put that 'however' in their apology as it made it less meaningful, like they only said it to calm the bad press they were getting and didn't actually mean it. Anyway, I'm glad they have finally done the right thing; I hope they have learnt something from this and taken the feedback you have given the way it was meant as constructive. Onwards and upwards.

Wondershare just approached me to promote their products. I declined.

Damn what a story, the biggest problem for filmora is that these videos are engaging, interesting, and we all want to know what happens next. You are getting an insane amount of exposure for this fight and we are all rooting for you.

Glad to see a relatively happy ending to this saga, still, screw Filmora, they would be going hard against you if not for the fact that so many people are siding with you

I was recommended this channel a week or so ago and subbed since Daniel seems like a cool guy, reasonable, articulate, and trustworthy. The fact that he looks like a rockstar hippy who would climb over cars is just a bonus. Keep up the good work!

I admint, I don't think I ever heard about you before your video popped up in my feed, but it was nice to discover your channel and I think it won't be last video of yours I will watch. I don't use Filmora either, although I do little bit of video editing for my projects, using DaVinci Resolve, but what Filmora did with the licences was really outrageous and it's great that the story got so much coverage/reach (I don't know how to say it in English), and that Filmora gave up and allowed lifetime licence owners use the software they paid for. I don't use software that only have subscription based models, but it great to hear that it's possible to put pressure on the companies when they do such things and make them stop, it's only a drop of the water in the ocean of companies doing bad things, but every step foward matters. Also you indeed look like a rock star, nice hair, don't get a haircut :P B) . I see you got a Firebird and few other guitars, nice [+], for some reason even when I find a youtube channel that's not about the music, it's run by musician too, I can't escape music in my life and I like it B) .

Bravo! It's so satisfying to see good things happen out of a nasty situation. This journey started for me tonight and I was not prepared for the roller coaster of emotions I was about to experience. I've never seen this channel before as I've never sought out these specific videos, but I'm glad the RU-vid algorithm blessed this saga with the coverage it needed. Props to you for putting word out there, props to RU-vid for pushing it further and taking a right step in the DMCA situation, and yes even props to Wondershare Filmora as even they made a move in the right direction in the end.

For not knowing who this man is until a few days ago (lol he kept popping up in my suggestions) I have to I have nothing but respect for this man. They've treated you and other lifetime holders really shittily and the false DMCA strike is just an act of utter pettiness. I don't think it was Wondershare who decided to drop their copyright claim against you. The wording of the e-mail makes it sound like it was RU-vid who stepped in, decided that Wondershare's DMCA takedown was bogus, and reversed it. Otherwise even if Wondershare decided not to pursue legal action against you, you'd still need to wait out the 10-day period.

Good news! You keep popping up on my recommendations too. I don't mind nor care. It's nice to see new content once in a while. You rock on 🤘

I’m a new creator and had already decided I’d be using Davinci Resolve as my editing software, but your videos re: Wondershare and their Filmora product just made Resolve an even more solid decision. I'd love to see them actually try and litigate that copyright strike. Honestly, it wouldn't even be that hard to throw out the case. "this company had made a decision to dishonor their agreement with some of their product's earliest adopters. I made videos explaining to people what was happening and, of course, recommended ways to try and remedy this disservice to some of my viewers. In response, the company decided to file a DMCA takedown notice on an unrelated video. The likely reason they targeted this video is because it contained their logo. The reason it contained their logo is because I was contractually obligated BY THEM to include it in the video, as this was a paid advertisement that they expected me to upload to MY channel. Had they attempted to take down my video discussing their controversial change in policy, it would be entirely non-defendable. So, ultimately this company determined that their best course of action to remain in business and continue to do business with their customers was to reverse their decision. However, they still deemed it necessary to attempt to "punish" me by abusing the legal system. What they've done is put a strike on my channel. Think of strikes like having points put on your driver's license after an accident or a DUI or what have you. Three strikes and the channel is removed. You can also think of the channel to be just like the vehicle you'd need that driver's license for. Where your vehicle transports your person to a workplace to allow you to make money, a RU-vid channel allows your content to reach viewers who watch advertisements and thus provide you with money. Therefore, it should be clear that this is a malicious suit with only the bare minimum of available arguments on their side and should be thrown out in our favor. In addition, we'd like to request to be awarded legal fees" I'm not a lawyer, but even my 3 remaining braincells can write that up, and I could still see a judge agreeing with it.

Haven't used Filmora, don't even watch channels about editing, but your engaging personality and assessment of the whole situation kept me coming back to your videos, and I love your hair, keep rocking on

Hey brother Daniel! I there is so much to say and so little time or space to do it. Let me say first, that I really admire what you have done here. I know how bad it feels to have to cut ties with a company that you may have once truly believed in and have staked your reputation on. (Had to cut with Yamaha recently after using their instruments for over 40 years. (Literally since childhood). Felt like a death in the family). But when it comes to keeping ones' word, there are few things more important. We know that, and the kids coming up will learn that. That still doesn't make it any easier. But what really gets to me (and I hesitate because I know it's not really what you are about) is this clown that you gave a few moments at the end of your video. And why it does is deeply personal to me and needs context now more than ever. As a black man coming up on MLK Day, I am reminded of his comments on judging a man (or anyone else) by the content of his character and not the color of his skin. Or the length of his hair too maybe? Or the fact that you aren't smart enough to hit the "Not interested in this" button on your feed to stop this stuff from showing up if you don't want it? Or so many other things TL;DR? I know it's just funny to most people but it really hurts me as an artist and a human. He owes you an apology, but I'm going to give it to you. What's wrong with the world now (and probably since the beginning) is that we spend so much time judging each other over nothing! If he, like me, took the time to watch and listen to your series, he would have found a lesson in good business practices and perhaps a CC who could help him go to the next level. I don't GAF*** what you look like and don't know why he would? BTW, you do look like a rock star and it's a good look! Heck, if I had looked like you; I probably would have become a rock star long ago! But to digress... I find myself calling people out these days because hypocrisy seems to be very well accepted lately and I will not be having it! And this is about business; not race, style or politics! So, I have followed the whole saga in the background and finally hit the subscribe button (yes, I lurk a lot). I was worried about the whole license issue. I do understand companies have to make money. Without money, they cannot sustain themselves. However, the way they just boldly ignored the question. Then all this happened, makes me wonder if I should even consider the product anymore. It was on my list to consider since I need more editing power and a lot of these free apps you can get do not have all the complete power and ease of use. However, I do appreciate you being very professional and not being a bad guy about it. You were calm and very understanding from start to finish. Think this is the first time I've seen a successful turnover of a situation like this. Typically companies will not bend under the public pressure and typically fall victim to gambler's fantasy. But to see that a promise was effectively forced to be kept is a nice change of pace. Not sure where that ominous threat of legal action will take them, but surely, things won't go so well if they're the ones telling lies and try to silence other people for telling the truth. This is such a great message to all of these other narcissist running these type of companies. Because it is certainly trying to become the norm in the industry, that they quietly render useless an agreement you had in favor of pushing you into a lease.

I was looking for expressions for a Resolve Fusion effect I was working on when you showed up in my search. Didn't know who you were or what filmora was. However, (this time the following is not bad) I ended up watching a 50 minute documentary about your fight with them. I honestly feel that if you were to expand your purview to include more companies with the primary focus on EULAs and how they have misled and taken advantage of consumers, you would have one helluva relevant and important documentary that would address and hopefully make a positive change to those EULAs going forward. Either way, congratulations on your victory.

I have only discovered your channel literally today and I binged the last few videos related to this story. This was just a master class on how to deal with bullshit. I'm really glad that they dropped the strike and I hope that they wouldn't be silly enough to pursue further legal actions against you. I haven't used Filmora myself, but as an IT professional I've dealt with many labyrinthian licensing agreements and am familiar with the...fun that can often come up as vendors change their terms during the life of a product (it's especially fun if you're running a large infrastructure where the removal of said products would require a complete redesign and implementation of your backend from scratch!). That being said, in a competitive market I can't understand why this was handled the way it was and as someone who has had an interest in getting into this sort of thing I won't bother with Filmora or any of Wondershare's other offerings. It feels like they not only had to be forced to move on this issue but also acted in a way that moves them to the bottom of my list for potential solutions. On the plus side, this saga helped me discover your channel (admittedly there was some initial confusion in wondering why Tom Araya from Slayer was doing tutorial vids, but I digress). ;)
