Air NZ pilots are some of the best in the world make no error. Wow this smooth approach sure ain't like that flying in here to Invercargill...or Wellington...best airports to test pilot's skills...Air NZ has an excellent reputation in international aviation too. So big bouquet to Air NZ thank you for excellent high standard of aviation service domestically and internationally. Would always choose to fly Air NZ internationally. Woops my wife and I flew Jetstar from Queenstown to Coolangata in 2015 to watch Australian V8 Supercars at the Gold Coast 600. Oh yes that's right we hit an air pocket flying out of Queenstown and my stomach almost exited out my mouth and almost had to change my pants. I'm pretty relaxed when it comes to flying however on that occasion I was scared. Led to me making the decision I would NEVER fly in or out Queenstown airport in the dark...and even today I'm not sure if planes fly in & out in the dark. The area is full of mountains and that equals a lot of turbulence - I would never ever fly in ANY aircraft in or out of Queenstown in the dark...got an accident written all over it.
I flew Air Mew Zealand from Cairns many years ago on circle Pacific ticket,it was a fantastic trip,great airline,and no interruptions for flights,I went to NZ,Tonga,Cook Islands,Tahiti then to USA,I did I side trip to Hawaii, really enjoyable holiday,the Pacific islands are beautifull and because it was start of summer it was more breathtaking,Air New Zealand are a good airline with a good track record,fly this airline you wont be disappointed,cheers.
Haha cheers mate the captain is a close friend of mine and I often fly with him whenever I fly, these days though with covid no jump seat flying happening

From the general aviation chit chat that I used to hear from flight crews whilst I was a ground crew member, correct me but I always belived Air Nelson/Air NZ what ever you want to call it was a bit of a mongrel to work for & it would appear things havent changed all that much!! No longer in aviation as it gives me the shits & there are better jobs out there if you take your head out of the clouds so you can see where you are really going!! Sorry I spent so many wasted years in that industry!!

I reckon a C-17 could....they can stop on a dime. The Tauranga runway is 1800m...about the same as Albion Park airport in NSW....Qantas actually landed a 747 there.
