I love watching new people get into it, take it a step at a time while you're interested, don't let anyone push you around on here, as the fandom can get a little pushy and I don't want the worst among them to make you feel like we have the worst internet community to associate with lmao. I see you mentioning 'the son'/'the prince' a lot and I see a lot of new players confuse the two so there are two 'sons'/princes': Arthas Menethil, son of King Terenas Menethil, who was ruler of the kingdom of Lordaeron (now occupied by the Forsaken). Arthas was once a Paladin of the light but came under corruption by the Lich King Ner'zhul, and eventually succumbed to the corruption & became the new Lich King - these events happened in WC3 & we eventually brought him down in the WoW's 3rd expansion, Wrath of the Lich King. Arthas slew his own father & you saw that happen in one of the cutscenes. The 2nd prince is Anduin Wrynn, son of Varian Wrynn, who you saw in the Legion cinematic/the cinematic at the end of Mists of Pandaria where they were choosing how to judge Garrosh Hellscream (the brown orc). Varian Wrynn was the king of Stormwind until he passed in events that happened in the Legion expansion, and Anduin took up the helm as king of Stormwind. He's still alive so I won't go too much into his current story as to avoid potential spoilers. Cheers, have fun in WoW classic!

I still love that the intros for the various WoW races are narrated by the voice of Terenas Menethil. Sadly the actor passed away, so newer races are introduced by different voice actors.

Illidan wasn't actually a bad guy or a good guy. One of those in the middle that fought against the bad guys but believed that you had to get your hands dirty to defeat the bad guys and would go beyond what the normal good guys would do to win. If someone good saw a path to victory but realized they would have to give up their "honor" or "morales" to achieve that victory, a lot of them would stop or try to find a different path. Illidan wouldn't do that since he can already see a path to victory, his morality and honor be damned.

11:43 during the scene of Arthas returning to Lordaeron - if you go into the Undercity, you can see the bell fallen and the path Arthas walked where he was showered in rose petals, you can see the stain of them on the ground and in the throne room before you go into the elevators to go into the city proper - turn up your sound, turn the music down and turn the ambience up and you can hear the conversation between him and his father in whispers. And on the ground in front of the throne you can see the blood splatters on the stones from where the crown rolled. It's really awesome how Blizzard puts in these little easter eggs and such.

To answer your question about what happens when you join a side; Both factions follow the same main plot line, but many zones and quests are uniquely available to your specific faction for the early potions of the game and some of the later expansions as well. Occasionally you'll see different viewpoints as well, there's a handful of cinematics even that you'll see different versions of depending on which side of the conflict you're on.

Mannoroth was the pit demon slain by Grom Hellscream by Gorehowl(the axe)

Theres two sets of royalty for the Humans - Lordaeron and Stormwind. The Wrynns rule Stormwind - King Llane -> Varian -> Anduin. Lordaeron was ruled by the Menethils - King Terenas Menethil was killed by his son Arthas causing the kingdom to fall to the Scourge and later the Forsaken. It was nearly reclaimed by The Alliance but Sylvannas released blight within the city making it uninhabitable.

Man I just watched your other hour long reaction video to the cinematic compilation, and was just thinking to myself that I want to see more of your WoW content, and you upload this. New sub earned.

Most of the villains you face in wow went like "All the roads to Hell are paved by good intentions." Each with his or her own story as to why and how they ended up being a big baddie in the game, most started out wanting to do good for their own specific people, all were corrupted by "evil" rather, that is an OldGod or Demon of legion, because of their personal desires to do so no matter the cost. I noticed your confusion come up with some of the clips evolving around newly introduced "Dungeon or raid" content. Amani Trolls for instance were introduced along with a new Dungeon, and have never joined with the Horde. Trolls had several tribes, you play as a Troll in the Darkspear tribe. Several other of the clips were from other new Raids and Dungeons that just follow with one baddie or another as their final stand, that you as a player need to eliminate, along with a ton of other players in a Raid. heh. Oh, and some of them were clips introducing new PvP Battlegrounds as well!

There's a guy named Platinum WoW on youtube I would recommend. He makes videos helping explain the Lore of Warcraft with a side of comedic snark. Jokes aside, his stuff is pretty accurate and worth checking out if you wanna learn about WoWs lore.

Fun fact! The lich king is the only raid boss to canonically have defeated us in the story. in the fight he actually wipes the raid and you need to be ressurected by his father.

If you didn't get them to fully explain it, there were two different human kings, Arthas's father, and Arthas, and then there is Andiun and his father you see in the Cinematics for WOW.

I am not sure if anyone commented this, but the orcs were aliens from the planet Draenor. They were brought through the Dark Portal, but have now been on Azeroth since the orginal Warcraft game. Also the Draenei dude at 14:06 are aliens from that planet. They crashed on Azeroth in their spaceship fleeing the Burning Legion, the green fire guys.

BTW friendo just FYI there always has to be a lich king because they are mindless. The army follows the thoughts of the Lich King (Whomever wears the crown.) Without the helm, the undead go berserk and attack and kill anything and everything they come into contact with. They're still bigbad, but with a Lich King there is still some semblance of control

Man... Garrosh acted pretty damn stupidly throughout the time he was alive. All he was fixated on, was "death to the Alliance". And he would do anything, and everything, to see that happen. He could not see the forest for the trees, nor did he ever care to.

Watching this with you is one of the best Nostalgia trips I've been on from starting this journey as a kid all those years ago. Love your reaction content and how into it you are!

1:22:34 Once Arthas picked up the sword in Northrend it took his soul and trapped it turning him into a Death Knight. The sword drove him to the helm and armor which it shows in game the original Lich King (the spirit of an Orc named Ner'zhul) calling out to Arthas to go to him. Realistically the sword is manipulating Arthas. Theres a book based on Arthas that explains more and in Shadowlands we find out the main antagonist (the Jailer) was apparently the one manipulating Arthas through the sword.

Bit of a shame you didnt watch the remastered cinematics/cutscenes for warcraft, but 1 thing i really like.. i've watched a couple of people get into the wow lore by watching all cutscenes etcetera but most of them always come to these weird unlogical conclusions, but you have such a better understanding of the lore already just by watching these videos which is kinda nice to see. Someone in chat mentioned it and its definitely highly recommended, get some platinum wow videos in there. Especially the one with the scarlet crusade and the one with the trolls are gold. And i dont know if someone in chat might've mentioned it but the lich king one shots everyone in the raid when he gets to 10% or something like that and starts a whole speech about how he suped us up to kill us and resurrect us as death knights under his control. It was only the lights plot armor that ended it all technically

41:30 many ppl pointing out that night elves are part of the alliance and blood elves are part of the horde. Again simply yes but little bit of lore. Elves there are many types of elves and as expansions went they were added to these two factions respectivelly. The main part of Alliance since Warcraft 1 were Humans, High Elves (Sylvanas Windrunner was High Elf before killed and changed to banshee queen), Dwarves and Gnomes. The main part of Horde since Warcraft 1 were Orcs, Goblins and Ogres (you cant yet play as Ogre since devs said that it would need to create bigger doors in game world which would look horrible for other races or something along those lines). Now, about the elves, why are Blood Elves in Horde? Well High Elves were racially terrorized by some Human kingdoms and after the Sunwell thing (Were Sylvanas Windrunner died defending the road to the city of High Elves by undead army of Arthas who wanted to ressurect Kel Thuzad necromancer in that Sunwell) High Elves got addicted to magic and they were sucking everything just for bit of magic. They were casted away (only Blood Elves, some High Elves are still part of Alliance but you cant play as one, well maybe now you can in new expansions I played just up to BFA) from Alliance. After Warcraft 3, Night Elves joined ranks of Alliance and Trolls with Taurens joined the Horde. So now in vanilla WoW you can choose from Dwarves, Humans, Gnomes and Night Elves as playable alliance characters and for Horde you can choose between Orcs, Trolls, Taurens and Undead. Oh yeah Undead....well after the Warcraft 3, Sylvanas Windrunner tried to find and unite all the roaming sensible undeads and call her faction as Forsaken who dont kill living things senselessly (tho they did most of the warcrimes in the game). Lore wise, Goblins are now part of the Horde as playable characters but up to Cataclysm datadisk, they were just neutral forces looking for a money. Like capitalistic guys who would sell their moms to anybody just for some money.

To clarify some stuff about the Alliance and Horde for you: The Horde is basically a faction of misfits and outcasts. They aren't necessarily evil, but their races consist of races that are traditionally treated as evil in fantasy media. Generally, races and factions that have been in some way shunned by the rest of the world can find sanctuary among the ranks of the Horde. The orcs came from another world called Draenor, which was destroyed by chaotic, demonic magic. They built a portal that lead them to Azeroth, where they began expanding their domain (which happened to encroach on that of the humans who already lived there). Originally, the Horde only consisted of orcs who were seeking refuge from Draenor; but as war played out between them and the humans, they picked up some of the other races that were not treated particularly well by humans. The Alliance, by contrast, was originally a pact between the human kingdoms, the dwarves, and the high elves, its intention to defend the continent of the Eastern Kingdoms from the new threat of the orcish Horde. It was originally called the Alliance of Lordaeron, actually, since Lordaeron was the strongest and most prominent kingdom at the time... but we all know what happened there. Since that point, they've picked up allies from a few other races and factions that had their own beef with the Horde. The night elves, for example, were kinda neutral and doing their own thing in Kalimdor, until the Horde came to their continent and started destroying their forests so that they could build their new home. The night elves then joined the Alliance out of convenience, because they were pissed off at the Horde. It's very important to understand that neither faction is good or evil. This game's lore is filled with moral ambiguity; sometimes the Alliance is in the right, sometimes the Horde is, sometimes they're both the victims and sometimes they're both the bad guys. A lot of the conflict between them roots from a fundamental incompatibility of difficult circumstances, rather than one side being more good or evil than the other. Not always, but a lot of the time.

Before you play we should watch a Class breakdown vid so you got an idea of what your getting into. As someone whos been playing Warcraft since the RTS, Im totally in on this journey youre on.

Something that's confusing (since it's not really clear watching things unless you're looking at a map) is that there are two major Human kingdoms: Lordaeron in the north where Arthas is from, and Stormwind in the south where King Varian and Anduin are from.

I really loved to watch your reaction to all those videos and to see the informations you were picking up from them! There is so much more in game cinematic, but here the author tried to make something that made sense a little bit, especially at the end, so there would be more of a story to follow. I have played WOW since feb 2005 (the release in Europe) and it has been such an important game for me. Beautiful to see someone getting into all those cinematic I have been feeling through!

You probably already know this by now, but the orcs and the draenei are not native to Azeroth. Both are alien to the planet.

i was reading your chat in world of warcraft what race you choose does effect the perspective of the story you get it from whichever side you choose sometimes its the same sometimes its different its like real life two people can see the same thing but have different views on it nowadays wow is made so no matter what you play itsd the same experience but in og wow it made a huge diff what you chose to play there was different gear choices hell different dungeons unless you broke into the city you wasnt runnin the starting dungeon in the opposite faction or death hopped. different quest chains even in the same faction now you can be a human and go to night elf and get the quest chains from there but most people just stayed where they started until like 10-15 and then just went to human starting zone or orc starting zone for protection from opposite faction and quests were closer together. but there was even class specific quests back in the day THOSE WERE THE SHIT. some really strong gear if you did them early.

OK WoW lore nerd checking in, so, this is from memory about the races of Azeroth: HORDE Trolls, the sentiant original race Tauren, another original race, but way more spiritual and into the ancestors Bloof Elves - will explain under night elves, but these were more banished magic wielders Undead (Forsaken) - former humans and elves turned undead and broken free of the Lich King Control Goblins - From the isle of Kazan Orcs - yup aliens, from the planet Draenor - driven to blood lust by drinking demon blood and sent to Azeroth to conquor for the Burning Legion ALLIANCE Dwarves - from the earth (Earthen Race) effexted by the curse of flesh Gnomes - mechanical beings also effected by the curse of flesh Humans - deformed Valkyr (they were small for their race) Night Elves - Evolved from Trolls Draenei - also aliens, the tenticle face space goats, driven from Dreanor by the orcs Oh and edit cause I forgot to say the Burning Legion, led by the mad titan, made up of demons So, if you want to know anything, hit me up, but the Nobbler (Nobble87) best guy to explian wow lore

The cinematics and cutscenes show a lot of the story, but you should watch an actual lore video going through everything that happens in an actual storyline. A lot of stuff happens in between them.

13:17 you can go to this exact place in the game, and you'll not only see the blood still on the floor near the steps to the throne, but depisite this place being in ruins now and taken over by the forsaken (sylvanas and her people) you can still hear the bell ringing, despite bell being broken and on the floor in front of you. Very neat little thing, that can be easily missed by quickly walking through the area, as the bell noise is quiet

This is too hilarious. You're coming from a place of partial knowledge, declaring "This man Illidan is the devil" lololol. Dude, he's one of the BEST characters that have ever existed. He's been thrown off the path, but ALWAYS with GOOD intentions. He's done awful things for greater good ones. He's not black/white, he's morally gray. The anti-hero so to speak.

am watching this @ the 30 minute mark upset bc your char still hasn't explained that there are TWO main human cities throughout warcraft- Stormwind and Lordaeron. Lordaeron is the STRONGEST human city throughout the warcraft OG series - Ruled by King Menethil, father of Prince Arthas. Arthas, along with a mage Lady Jaina, are investigating the nearby cities when they learn that a poisoned wheat that will cause a plague has been distributed under by a necromancer / lich (which means undead) lord named Kel'Thuzad. Jaina is horrified when Arthas presents his plan to deal with this issue: Kill everyone from the infected cities. Jaina abandons Arthas, he commits genocide, thinking it will quarantine the issue, and travels to a different continent, Northrend, to find Kel'Thuzad. Instead he find's Nerzhul, an Orc who is the current Lich King (commanding Kel'Thuzad) and possessed by the demons of the Burning Legion. They fight, Arthas "wins". Arthas wields Nerzhul's sword which was created with the ability to possess the bearer. Arthas is now possessed, seeks Narzhul's helm, they merge together as one, Arthas is now lost forever. He travels to Lordaeron, with his undead army and kills his father. Lordaeron is now gone. It is a ruin of the once affluent human capital (it later becomes a home for the undead who regain consciousness.) Stormwind takes up the responsibility of leading the humans of Azeroth- they later form an alliance with other races such as night elves, dwarves, draenai, etc. At the start of World of Warcraft, 4 years after the conclusion of Warcraft 3, the king is Anduin Wrynn who is only 8? years old at the time while his father, Varian Wrynn, is kidnapped.

Orcs came from the planet Draenor. They opened a portal b/c their world was ending, and they needed to escape. Gul'Dan was in charge, you saw the portal being built in one of the other cinematics. The movie Warcraft actually shows that time. The clan leaders, Durotan and Draka, crossed just to be killed by Gul'Dan's soldiers, but their baby that had just been born, THRALL (or Go'el) was able to escape b/c Draka sent him down river.

so many assumptions from the chat that Orcs are aliens. Simply put yes. Orcs lived in a Draenor were they evolved from the race called Groms. Their world got invaded by another aliens called Draeneis which they didnt fight but rather simply coexisted and even taught them shamanism and power of elements. Draeneis were corrupted by the Sargeras which was one of the gods of Pantheon. He was at first good, was killing demons and even created sphere for them so they can stay there because everytime he killed a demon he spawned again somewhere else. Sargeras then tried to corrupt 3 high standing leaders of Draenei on their world (not Draenor) which was Kil´Jaeden, Archimonde and Velen. Velen escaped with bunch of his ppl on the ship which collapsed and crashed on Draenor so here we come back to that alien thing. After some time Sargeras found about Velen and where he landed so he tried to punish them by corrupting Orcs. Orcs were grey and some where also brown. After drinking demon blood (Mannoroths blood which is the same guy dying in Warcraft 3 by Grom Hellscream axe) they all changed to crazy green killing machines which unlocked special ability Bloodlust (which funny enough is Shaman ability in the game). Then when everything was killed and again few Draeneis flew now Draenor, they crashed in Azeroth. But when Draeneis flew, Orcs didnt knew what to do next since they were slaves to Demons and Demon plan was to invade other worlds so they did invade Azeroth and just after the war against Burning Legion, Draeneis crashed in Azeroth. So tl;dr Orcs would never invade Azeroth if Draeneis didnt invade Orcs. Humans are basically born race to Azeroth but they evolved from the race known as Vrykul and after that Humans started massive genocide against Trolls which saved Azeroth many times even against bugs and Old Gods. So only ancient and really Azerothian races are Gnomes, Dwarves, Elves, Trolls, Taurens and Humans (as playable characters).

If you really want lore I honestly recommend playing Warcraft 3, it's packed with lore. WoW is more gameplay based and it's kinda hard to notice the overall lore unless you go for very specific quests. After all, the player is just a random adventurer living in the world. If you want fun videos about warcraft lore, check out Platinum WoW's videos, it's by far the best youtube channel for that IMO.

i used to think playing a gilnean would be cool but all the races get Racial traits, blood elves can suck mana up Trolls Berserk Goblins get extra gold humans get diplomacy and a get out of jail free ability and dranie get a useful healing buff. Meanwhile Gilneans, don't have that pounce and slash attack that would be useful or being able to climb up roof tops like feral werewolves. instead, they get the ability of running a bit faster! i mean WHHHHYYYY!? they become their own ground mount for gods sake!

About Arthas. he cut out his Heart before he sit down at the frozen throne, and let go of the rest what was Arthas. so for your question, he wasnt realy manipulated at the first plaace when he killd all those peoples in stratholme. He was critical before he even got the sword and got corrupted. The helm of domination only gave him the rest. There 3 Sisters called Windrunner, plus they have even an younger brother. There few familys who are several expansions relevant. Old kings like Thrall or Magni who are still around. But to be fair. those 19 years what WoW is around now, are only about 15 years in game time. There isnt much time past since Vanilla. Anduin was a Child in the very first expansion the burning crusade, and a teenager in battle for azeroth.

6:40 technically, the actual natives of Azeroth are the trolls (the elves as well since they were evolved by living near the Well of Eternity). Humans, Dwarves, and Gnomes are "aliens" to Azeroth because they were originally crafted there by the Titans, and the Orcs invaded Azeroth via The Dark Portal.

Kinda surprised no one told the real origin of the draenei. The draenei are actually from the planet argus and are technically not called draenei but eredar. The group of individuals, who call themselves draenei are rather a rebellious group of eredar, who follow the high prophet Velen in his fight against the burning legion and their 2 Eredar commanders Kil'jaeden and Archimonde. They fled argus and seeked refuge on draenor, where the orcs lived and soon a war betwen the orcs and the draenei started, because the draenei are zealous followers of the light and the orcs literally got enslaved by guldan with the demonblood (which again is the doing of the burning legion). On a site note: In wow the light is often associated with life, holiness and being the "good" site yet it still turns its followers into fanatics and therfore cant be really called the "good" site. I feel like this is an core element of WoW, because the orcs are also always considered the bad ones yet they are technically refugees, who fled from the war on draenor after being manipulated by guldan and sargeras. The later orcs (of the new horde under thrall) are technically no aggressors and suffer from the acts of their ancestors. Same for the undead. Always considered the bad guys yet they only fight to 1. Take revenge on arthas for raising them as undead and 2. Because they are hunted as abominations, while they kinda just want to get used to their new existence and be allowed to be "alive". And about illidan... well probably one of the most tragic figures in WoW along with Sylvanas, Arthas and Gamon (lel). He was once a powerful night elf mage and was one of those , if not the only one, powerful enough to fight against the burning legion. But to gain more power he sacrificed those under his command to consume their arcane power and become stronger. He saved many lifes in exchange for a few but still the night elves imprisoned him for consuming the power of his own people and using arcane magic (arcane magic was considered a no go amongst night elves as this very arcane magic lured the burning legion to azeroth). He was imprisoned 10000 years and watched by maiv shadowsong but later managed to escape and joinde the burning legion as a double agent to get more knowledge about the demons also consumed fel energy to become a demon himself. Later on in the story his reputation is redeemed by forming the demonhunters (elves, who consumed demon energy) and fighting against sargeras.

The 2ldr of the Horde and Alliance. Horde = Originally ONLY Orc when they came from "another planet". When Thrall took over, he welcomed Tauren who helped them settle on Azeroth. Then Trolls who also owned the lands and helped them, Undead who weren't welcome in the Alliance. Alliance = Originally only Humans alliances, welcomed the Dwarves due to the Original Horde attacking Dwarves and helped defend them along with gnomes who occupied the same land, and Night elves who also allied with the alliance thanks to mediev and interest to drive the Orcs off of their ancient night elf hands. A lot of the modern day Horde & Alliance is a mixmash of one side doing wrong to another race on the other side so the other took them in to defend them. This is how Bloodelves joined the horde due to racism humans showed before and why Draenei joined alliance because the Horde had Orcs who tried to wipe out the draenei back on Draenor when they were controlled by the demon blood.

1:03:20 Min.: Nope this missunderstand you and the player past then XD Illidaan ISNT evil. He is more like a grey hero or anti hero figure. He trys to stop the buring legion at ALL costs. And this costs be maybe a bit high and extrem but this make him not a hero but not a villain. His goals be so far i know good but his ways are wronge. But we will see who is the good guys in all this because its gaves theorys that the legion are the good guys but also have a bad way to solve there problems. Its will be interstring who is good and who evil at the end of the story :D

The Orcs are technically Aliens as they come from Dreanor or Outland if u wanna call it that. They dont come from the world of Azeroth. How dare u skip that Legendary voice line from Illidan Stormrage. For the Argent Crusade Patch there actually was a story and an important one when u look at the expansion as a whole, sadly it dident play out very good as gameplay. Both factions hade tried to penetrate the defenses of the Lich Kings Icecrown Citadel with no luck so a mass attack clearly wasent gonna work. They did however discover a less defended area but u couldent run an entire army through it or the weakness would quickly have been tightened up. So the story around the Argent Crusade Patch was to create and train an elite 25-man team that would secretly assualt the Citadel from this weakened side area while the main force kept the Lich Kings army focused on the main gate. What we did in the patch was fun as a side thing once or twice a week, but definatly not every day. The faction fight gets alot of hate but it was honestly fun as it turned away from the traditional raid mechanics at the time and into sort of a PvP fight instead of your standard boss fight. As a one time thing i dont think it was as bad as ppl like to say it was.

Technically, the only native races that are playable, that are truly from Azeroth, would be the Tauren, Pandaren, Trolls, and all the elf races. Humans, Dwarves, Gnomes, and a ton of other races were forcibly evolved from constructs made by the titans.

The Warcraft Lore is actually really interesting but explaining it would be multiple hours of just explaining.

Hey if you want to watch a good version of this video go to Lawllin's channel. He has a great series on the Lore of Warcraft before Warcraft 3, about Warcraft 3 and World of Warcraft. Is explained in a much better way than the one you saw!

Sorry this was not as enjoyable as the other one, you focused more on chat than the actual video. Which is usualy the case with livestreams overall. Tho i've an ask, you should make more reactions to the cutscenes you've missed. There's a couple more good ones that's not in here or the other video. I guess they could be harder to find since many compilations miss a scene here and there. But if you can find jainas story for example would like to see you react to those ones.

fun random facts = arthas did nothing wrong till the sword. in the lore and the devs have said this (the ones who created the fuckin story not new devs) that the entire city was going to turn if he didnt kill them all even though its supposed to show him taking the wrong steps along his dark path but unironically it was the right path. also youll see "garrosh did nothing wrong" or "garrosh true warcheif" basically around the god emperor trump meme became a thing so did garrosh again and while not directly tied are very similar memes
