Usually you heard them the longest and most frequently of all themes after all 😅 It's amazing that I can still hear out the game The partook in, although I played the fifth installment once to the first quarter and seven only once.
@Drake ICN there weren't really any RPGs with coherent storylines to follow, it's basic because there literally wasn't anything like it at the time, the premise of finding 4 elemental crystals and saving the world wasn't something that had been done before back then. The game was innovative for the RPG genre at the time it released.
@Drake ICN I mean I think it's just u. Also, it was in 1987, so a lot of things in video games were different and the thought of video games at the time was an incredibility. If the storyline sucked in ff1, they probably made ff2 to give a second chance. None of the ff games are even canonically in the same storyline. They've improved over the years, and the battle themes are and will always be amazing.
If i recall correctly its always one dude making these, the dude should have his name hailed with Hans Zimmer and John Williams as a musician of a lifetime.
To be honest, this isn't the best FFVI battle theme MIDI file out there. The melody for the majority of the song is kinda hollow without its harmony, and the instrument choices are a bit off in parts.
This reminds me of a Guitar Hero video I watched several years ago that recreated the main battle themes of 1 through 13. Something tells me it needs to be updated, what with 14, 15 and the hundred spinoffs that came out since then.
I - VI: "Hey, we're basically the same! We've hot the same bassline and overall feel! We sound so similar is uncanny! What do you think, VII? Don't you love how similar we all ar-" VII: *"No."*
Missed a couple cues, too. The other ones are all really well done, especially 4 and 7. But the theme for 6 here just sounds... bland. And wrong. XD Not sure how they nailed all the other themes but missed the mark on 6 so hard!
Cuts off right before Don't Be Afraid, my favourite battle theme. Still love all these though, especially vi and vii. I think Nobuo just got better and better every game
Pfff, 7 isn't epic in it's battle theme. The story telling, as I have to admit uneasily, IS an improvement to FF6 (if and only if you can blind out the fact that the characters are constantly shurbbing the most obvious task at hand in your face. Like, even if they take a dump: "Clohoooud, remember: we need to blown up that reactor/go to that specific place/fraternise with two more"... I'm not as dumb, as your boobies back breaking, Tifa. Really ain't.
Hoi im temmie that was an opinion. And personally I agree with him. I played six, but wasn’t very into it. Seven is what got me hooked, and I find the battle theme to be so much better, the boss theme is better still. And the game completely drops you off a damn cliff once you get out of Midgar, you have to figure out for yourself that you need a Chocobo to proceed, rather than the game outright telling you what you need to do.
7 wasn't perfect but yes, it was absolutely a step up from 6. Hell, 5 was better than 6. Shoehorning in about 12 characters in a game that can only accommodate 4 at a time with an Esper system for learning magic and stat growths was not a smart move. It's incredibly hard to care about any given character when I never use them anyway and depending on how you use the Espers can permanently make or broke a unit. 5 had level ups only raise HP, MP, and I think Def. Job progression permanently boosts your other stats. 7 had Materia which boosts stats while worn, allowing you to swap things around for each situation. Not to mention there's only 8 characters, 9 if you count Aerith. Never should there more than that
Each song in these video are the first version...FF1-3 from famicom, FF4-6 from Super famicom and FF7 from PS1...I like thier first version the most. The other versions of remake games are good but not great like the first. It is awesome that u choose the first verson... PS. After watching this video, I want to play FF1-7 once again...
There is definitely a bit of a tone change in this version of ff6 from the original version, but I actually really enjoy this version. Thing is ff6 always had a much more grim tone to its battle theme (that really fits the game well) than many other ff games, this version takes that tone to the next level. Listen to the ff5 theme (pretty much whole thing but here is where the theme starts 5:54) and ff7 theme where the melody jumps up to the high notes (9:54) and you'll notice how there is a sort of hopeful "we're gonna win because we're the good guys" vibe. Now in contrast listen to the melody of ff6 theme where it jumps up to the high notes (there are a couple spots but this part illustrates it best 7:37) and you can clearly hear the difference. It's much more in line with how you might expect to feel if you were traveling the wilderness and were suddenly beset by horrible monsters that probably want to eat you, like "oh shit my friends or I could die right now" vibe. The original wasn't quite so slasher flick sounding as this version but fwiw this version sets that tone really well.
Great video! Why is the FFVI battle theme in the wrong tone though ;v; i cant find a single accurate synthesia video of that battle theme on youtube anywhere
