the FF9 guide is completely re-done. the original guide had the gimmick where you had to go onto their playOnline website to get all the details because square was trying to advertise their new web service. the new guide has all the info we need to know like it should've from the beginning. i bought this collection just for that and the slick collectors packaging! :-)
Sho Brown Yeah, I've compared both the guides now that I've had a bit more time with them and FF9 is fully updated, I love it. Even if they would have been the same, I think I would have still wanted this since it's such a nice collector's piece!

I'm so glad the guide for Final Fantasy IX is nothing like the one from Brady Games where Squaresoft forced them to exclude over half the content and have it on this playonline website.
I want to order it, but amazon had a few downvotes saying that some of the content is wrong, particularly Vincent Valentine's bio having red xii details. does your copy also have that mistake?
Haha I remember seeing that Final Fantasy IX original strategy guide. Think every page was littered with "Go to PlayOnline.com for more information!" and such. The new ones look fantastic! Happy early birthday as well. :)
Still waiting for mine to ship from Amazon. I bought FFVII on launch day, and got the sweet pre order t-shirt. Also picked up the Versus guide, which is now a sought after collectors item.
Not many people have heard of the Versus guide. It's well worth tracking down a PDF of and taking a look. At one point there's an editor's note talking about an enemy in the Japanese version of the game that didn't make it into the US one called Test 0. They're thought to have been used for debugging, but weren't removed from the Japanese version.
These look so neat, they added a lot of pretty pictures, but I'm sending mine back. VII and VIII's guides just aren't updated enough from the original guides for me to be able to justify keeping them. >_< Even IX isn't improved enough, they did add the PlayOnline stuff but there's still not enough detail in the strategies. Maybe if they come down in price as much as The Sky did (around 20-30 bucks) I'll reorder them, but for $80 I really wanted to have a total overhaul.
RySenkari Fair enough. I think they're more so on the collector's side of things, so if you have the original guides and don't collect items, then no reason to keep them. I'm sure they'll drop down in price at some point in time as well.
I actually got Box Set at a The Exchange for $110.00. I saw the second box set is coming out November 3rd. I asked my sister to get it for me for Christmas. She uses Amazon so I just texted her the link to Amazon page. Now it's just the inevitable wait until Christmas. God I feel like a kid again. Also yes before anyone asks I do have a job. Problem I bought box set 1 (the one that is featured in this video) this month. Next problem I do get paid every 2 weeks but the rest of this month is for bills and other garbage. So yeah unless I want to pay like $46.00 or more I will to just wait for Christmas. I mean technically I could chance it because my pay might come close to the end of this month or the very beginning of next month (yes I rely on direct deposit and don't even know when it comes in I just call the bank and cheer when it comes in and cuss when it doesn't shut up you know do it to) but than I have to get a debit gift card and than activate that and it might not be "active" until 24 hours later. That is just cutting to close to the chance that I would miss the pre-order window price.So yeah thanks Square for being a jerk and releasing box set 2 on the 3rd instead of later on in the month,. Oh yeah and thanks Obama. I mean who releases big budget crap at the beginning of the month? I mean at least wait until the double digit dates before you release something big budget. I mean it's not like there is any big shopping day in November when stuff like this could be released. Oh wait......................... Wow I didn't even notice the giant envelope until this video. I have only had this about a week but still just wow at my random stupidity. Also something similar happened to me only it was Final Fantasy VIII. I was on that horrid missile silo boss and it took me a while but I finally beat him. The boss exploded and just as the captain and driver were supposed to come out the freaking disk stuttered and died.

I tend to like the longer more elaborate comments more sometime because they come with a story, and don't worry, I'm also probably waiting until Christmas or even longer before I get the second set. Heck, even the first set I didn't end up paying for, it was a gift from my girlfriend on my birthday! Anyway, I hope you're still enjoying the set, cheers!
silverkylevideogames Thanks man. I like you like to have guides for games like Final Fantasy. Playing a game like Final Fantasy without a guide just seems.........wrong. I mean yes there are RU-vid and internet guides but it isn't the same . I also agree with you that I wish Final Fantasy would go back to the more simplistic art style. it would really be intersting to see what they could do with a more simplistic art style. Although everyone else would likely freak out. The one thing I don't understand is what with FF XII and I guess FF X and FF X-2 (yeah I am not a fan of FF X or FF X-2 games sorry if you are but Tidus just rubs me the wrong way) them not coming to Steam. I mean granted they weren't on PC before granted but still they could do it now. Lord knows they have milked FF X and FF X-2 enough on the PSN and yes as much I hate those two game I still have two copies of it on the Vita and PS4 respectively.Why not put it on PC and FF 12 as well? Sometimes game companies don't make sense especially when there is more money to be made and they refuse to do it. Also still loving my books. The problem is I have been sick so haven't really been able to enjoy them :(
No shit they're different, they're made by two different companies! Bradygames suck, and I am happy to finally have some good Prima guides for these games soon (Piggyback were pretty good too, but I only have the one for IX).
The breathing was probably because I had the camera so close, and that everything was so silent lol. The lip smacking, man, I actually really try not to do it, but it still happens.
