"Our paths, they did cross, though I cannot say just why. We loved, we laughed, we held on fast, and then we said goodbye. And who'll hear the echoes of our stories never told? Let them ring, out loud, till they unfold!"
@@Fuchsia_tude We can agree to disagree. I think it's also to do with the context in-game for me, though, where the song not only shows up (sort of) out of nowhere in the credits, but also combines two generally separate bits of musical material (for the verse and the chorus). Sure, it's cheesy 90s J-pop, but it's well-written cheesy 90s J-pop that uses musical material we're already familiar with for emotional effect :P
I always loved FF6 and FF9's overworld themes, they both evoke the sense of travelling very well. They're also just good to listen to, both very hopeful and nostalgic (especially 9, for me personally)
I feel that way about FF7’s, plus the one from FF7, has this sense of doom, and gloom which evokes the evil, and corruption of shinra which unlike more fantasy based final fantasy’s their always behind you no matter how far you go from midgar.
This cover is really good too. I used to not like this theme a few years ago. I was in a relationship that ended really badly and during that particular time, I was helping my then girlfriend at the time through this game. What sucked most is that she had bad clinical depression and used it as a means to win arguments, especially when she was in the middle of always having this theme playing. I used to not want to listen to this track.....that was 7 years ago. I'm now married to an even bigger and funnier dork and it's amazing having good memories listening to this again. :) Great work!
This song, and similar ones from other final fantasy, and rpg in general calm your heart, and they make you want to carry on no matter how hard things are there’s always hope, and reason to live like Terra, said to Kefka, who is someone who can’t understand struggling onward pointlessly.
Not trying to be an arse, but this isn't the main theme of FF9. The Main Theme of Final Fantasy 9, weirdly, did not appear in the game and is only available on the FF9 OST Plus album.
