Glad you enjoyed all three of my requests so much. I tried choosing three themes that would be up your alley based on your other reactios, while all of them still being some of my favorite game music. The next two requests this month are quite a bit different compared to what you have been requested to react to so far, and I hope you enjoy those as well. 😁🤘
People had been asking for a FF7 remake for well over a decade at the time of this release ever since they showed a PS3 tech demo that recreated the beginning of the game.
@@Valerkos93 User error was the point. Which can be seen by the netcode alone, where in jumping reaffirms your location immediately in DQX, instead of deleting your location at the apex like XIV.
FF7R is ten hours of soundtrack for a 40 hour game and it's the most godlike stuff I've ever heard, through and through. Like, people have their favourites (like the airbuster, jenova and one winged angel rebirth) but those are only like half an hour combined, and you could listen to literally any track on the ost and have a good time, it's that amazing. Three of my personal underappreciated favourites would be Rufus Shinra, A Ghoulish Symphony and The Gigantipede.
Just for some further insight, this game is the absolute epitome of what video game music can do. They brought on pretty much every single well renowned composer who works for Square-Enix (and even Nobuo Uematsu, who used to) to do this remake's soundtrack justice. I'm sure you'll get other requests to listen to things like Those Who Fight Further (Airbuster ver.), and you can see why this soundtrack is so legendary. In my opinion, it will stand as the best for a long time to come.
Glad you liked it :) FF7R won the music award the year it released and it had hard competition with Hades, Doom and Last of Us2. Higly recommend the Airbuster Theme, Jenova, Bombing Mission, ONE WINGED ANGEL! (it has so many metal/rock covers), Abzu theme, Turks and many many more :D The Soundtrack is so fucking godlike.
"Why did this game get a remake?" Well, for one, the origional came out on the first playstation, and needed 3 CDs to hold all of its story/data. Which was almost unheard of back then. Most games of that time rarely filled up a single CD, much less 2 full cd's and most of a 3rd. And even with all that, the story-writers had wanted to add more. FF7 has a huge cult following, its story was so well done that it captivated gamers. Gamers who have been asking for "more" ever since. Square decided to remake it now that technology has increased by tones. But its not just the same game with prettier graphics, this time arround, they have been given the go-ahead to add in all the story elements they could not put into the origional one.
@Magpie I actually just got my PS5 in literally today! I'm SO INSANELY HYPE to dive back in and see FFVIIR Intergrade, see how this game really feels on PS5 and see the new ending, as well as FINALLY PLAY INTERMISSION. MY GIRL YUFFIEEEE
'Don't pay that toll!' Oh, you have NO IDEA... Loved how they worked Bombing Mission and Let the Battles Begin (which I also know as Those Who Fight, I think?) into this. Those, along with the boss theme, which I know as Those Who Fight Further (there may be another name for it, too), are among some of my favorite songs from FF7. Birth of a God is also rather amazing.
The reason why FFVII got a remake is relatively simple. It's the most impactful JRPG in history, it helped sell the PS1 back then and made JRPGs into a popular genre. Even with all that praise (+ a lot of people think it is the best or one of the best Final Fantasy games or even JRPGs) FFVII is also the one that aged the worst from a graphics standpoint. FFVIII and FFIX use the groundwork it layed out, but had much more detail in pre-rendered backgrounds and character models. FFVII was mindblowing back in 1997, but looks really simple and is lacking a lot of detail.
FFVII Remake is full of seemingless transitions between cutscene and gameplay, and the music accompanies it perfectly. It is a joy to play in that sense
This video game... I'm forty two now, I grew up with the original Nintendo (lol I'm an old girl, gosh)... when I played FFVII for the first time on Playstation, it was the very first game I'd ever seen that had a genuine cinematic tone. Not just the cut-scenes, but the overall music quality, the deep novel-like story... I enjoyed FFVI (III over here on the SNES), but this was an experience. That all said, FFXV was great fun... I loved that games had improved graphically and musically to such a degree. But the directing, the sheer quality of the presentation in Remake is absurd. We have SUBTLE facial expressions now, where minute little emotional impacts are not only shown but they're ZOOMED in on and emphasized, these characters ackshuawlly ACT! We seamlessly interweave between gameplay and impactful cinematic moments in the middle of bossfights. Gone are the days of detached pre-rendered cutscenes, the game engine itself is real-time master works. Honestly couldn't believe we've come this far in this medium. I've always hoped and even expected games could get to this point. I love the immersion, the longer more emotional stories and characters, and the MUSIC is exquisite in Final Fantasy... but Remake has infinitely delivered on showing us all what games can really do. Unbelievable experience. Definitely a joy to play. As someone who considers the original FF her favourite game of all time, it's such a pure pleasure to get to experience this. It's not just a Remake or sequel, it's a love letter. And it's presented so VERY well. Take care my friend, pleasure to talk with you, thanks! Best wishes
Credit to this track goes to Yoshinori Nakamura. It mainly remakes Nobuo Uematsu's OG FFVII track "The Chase" but also incorporates "Bombing Mission", "Let the Battles Begin" and "Fight On!" Absolutely insane arrangement!
Ostensibly, Midgar Expressway is a modern reimagining of OG FF7's "Crazy Motorcycle Chase." In reality, however, it's a ten-minute-long thrill ride that remixes *four* separate tracks from the original game one after another. The first two "phases" (when you're fighting the standard grunts on bikes and the armored truck) of the track are a straight remake of Crazy Motorcycle Chase. But then once you enter the tunnel and start fighting the little flying robots, it transitions into a moto-chase remix of The Bombing Mission, the second track you hear in the game after the opening theme. After that, once you exit the tunnel and go up against the helicopter, it turns into a remix of Let the Battles Begin, the classic FF7 battle theme. Finally, when the giant Motorball boss arrives, the track ends with Fight On, the boss battle theme. Lemme say this - hearing this track for the first time, playing the game during launch week and demolishing everything standing in front of Cloud's Hardy-Daytona (yes, that is the bike's actual designation) was a goddamn _experience._
oh yeah, around the 7:55 part where you mentioned it's a nice melody, this exact same melody could be found in the FF7R battle theme "Those Who Fight". Or as it is called in the original FF7 "Fighting".
I know a lot of people are sayin' it's a forgone conclusion that you'll be checking out Airbuster from FF7R now, but you'd be doing yourself a favor to check out Jenova Dreamweaver and Ignition Flame from FF7R in particular. The former is FAR more spoilerific than the latter, but they're both at least as golden as any other track in FF7R's set.
@@JessesAuditorium If you do Jenova Dreamweaver, I'd highly recommend listening to the original FF7 Jenova theme first. The remake's version knows that most of its audience has heard the original.
Played this scene last night and my jaw was dropped througout the whole section. My eyes were teary of amazement and enjoyment. This game is something else.
This not only fits but Square Enix has mastered something like "in game transitions" of music that self auto - length themselves in the timing you achieve this or that on every part / section of some of their gameplay, this is a highly technical feat from a sound and programmation standpoint, it's something they started to do in their titles like 2 / 3 years ago. I don't know how they call that, something like full dynamic gameplay range music / bgm , it's impressively seamless. It's like the game DJ's itself in function of the "state" and progression of the fight.
A good example from something Jesse has heard is Under the Weight is actually only the fifth phase of music for that boss. All five phases put together is something like fifteen minutes.
This is something they've been doing since at least Final Fantasy XIII-2. I believe it's called parallel tracking; basically they record the two versions of track and they're essentially playing at the same time, but switch between field and battle themes on demand. For this particular track it's most likely one long track, just broken into sections that loop and switch in sequence with each phase transition (and unique bridges for each) of the fight. As a stand alone, both the game and the soundtrack are amazing. As someone who played the original and was waiting for this for years, I had shivers of excitement playing and listening to EVERYTHING.
I actually saw this the first time right now and I can only say that they completely changed this part from the original and added a lot more. In the original you just hack left or right depending where the bikers were. And while that's here, everything else is completely new, including the cutscenes. Then again, the entire FF7 Remake feels like a new game entirely. Fans are eagerly still waiting for Episode 2 of this game. ... Yeah, here's to hoping they'll actually finish this game entirely.
Dancing Mad from FF6 all the way back on the Super Nintendo also had a multiphase music theme that would loop each part until you reached the next phase of the boss battle, its made of 4 movements with the 4th being distinctly different in instrumentation
Just like in the One-Winged Angel video, you are interested in how we _felt_ while playing... ... aaand it's kinda hard to put into words. "Iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii!!!" might work. xD
FF7 has been praised to be one of the best RPGs/JRPGs in history and sometimes as one of the best games in history. Of course whenever that's true or not is purely subjective, but it seems to have had a huge impact during its time. It's a really popular fan favorite among the FF community, so it's not surprising it got a remake (since people have been screaming for one for the past couple of years). Also someone actually made a book about FF7s norse inspirations.
FF7 Remake soundtrack is just godlike, the original game was known for having godlike soundtrack, but then they stepped up on the remake in many ways to the point of being unbelievable. How do you surpass the masterpiece? This song is just a taste of what they have done.
A spoiler is that's not actually a remake, but like the events are happening again. Like, there are spectres trying to course correct the sequence of events when they deviate from from FF7, and the characters see scenes of the original and misinterpret the visions without the original context. The game ends on them completely breaking away from the sequence of events from the original.
It got remade because the original is super old so scenes like this didn't look anywhere near this impressive. Part of why the game only encompasses the first few hours of the original ff7 is all the effort put into making it a fan service filled spectacle. In a good way in my opinion. Also i'm new to your channel and really love your ff music reactions!!
My personal music taste is kinda all over the place. Just like with completely different game genres, I can really get into basically any genre of music if it sounds good. 😅
I haven't gotten to the remake yet, but I remember this sequence from the original game... Originally it was only the bikes, but it was still really cool at the time. The final robot vehicle thing was a boss fight at the end of the section (in the battle mode, not during the actual chase). This music seems to be a medley/remix of 3 tracks, I believe. The music from the chase section, the battle theme and then the boss battle theme, then kinda back into the chase theme a bit at the end, if I remember correctly... I forget the actual track names, but yeah. I think fans wanted a remake for a while. It was a much beloved and epic game, potentially the one that really got many people in the west into JRPGs (although there were reasonably popular ones before that, I think FF7 was the first big, somewhat cinematic one)... But yeah, the graphics weren't the best, using chunky disjointed 3D models with pre-rendered backdrops amongst the more impressive cutscenes... And the music was great, but it was still using Midi style music (Used MIDI on PC, although I don't think the PS1 used MIDI exactly, it was still an equivalent set up though). Many wanted to see FF7 reach its full potential and with a tech demo that recreated the opening cinematic a fair few years ago (not to mention other remasters), people reallly started calling for a remake/remaster.
You like a lot of riffs in this track that originated from other tracks. So perhaps you can listen to Those Who Fight, or the Battle Theme from FFVII both Advent Children version or remake version. And maybe Black Water from Advent Children for some sweet guitar. And Beyond The Wasteland is great too, also from Advent Children!
FF7 Remake happened because it was basically asked after ever since they made a tech demo for the Playstation 3 using the original games intro sequence.
Fans REALLY wanted a Remake of this game FOR SO MANY YEARS. Myself included. No I'm not biased and a mega fan of the wider FFVII universe. LOL. FFVII in my opinion as someone who absolutely loves it, started to really not hold up anymore. The devs were in over their heads with the insane ambition the original PS1 version had (even though it was still groundbreaking for its time), because of the insane technical and time limitations they had back then. Even in interviews soon before the release of the remake, the developers were talking about what they couldn't do and what they wish they could've done in the original game. They REALLY wanted to make this game huge and dive back into its world, with a passion to flesh it out as much as possible. They basically said if they had done a 1:1 remake, it would've been boring. So we got MICHAEL BAY FINAL FANTASY VII. AND I'M HERE FOR IT.
My experience with FF7R was basically: "Oh cool, we're at this part again... how is it better than the original?". No idea how well this comment will age with future instalments in the series, but Midgar was an absolute treat.
In the original game, this section was pretty short but ended with a boss. In the remake the whole section just included the boss as well with this long as shit and way cooler rendition of the original theme. I was pretty hype the whole time, this was way cooler than I ever thought it could've been.
The reason for the remake is for sure the popularity and its so popular because it was the first FF to really do well in the overall market outside of Japan its self and it exploded the series from a massive Japanese thing to a household name and well the original graphics well its nice to call them that.
Midgard expressway is based on the original battle theme of FF7 but more high octane and super exhilarating and truth be told when I was playing this part of the game I had difficulty clearing the scene because I was busy jamming on the soundtrack it took me 2 tries to clear that particular scene.
I just stumbled upon your reaction videos a week ago when I started playing ff7 remake!. Hello from one fellow musician to another! And Thank you for the great videos!
I think 7 got a remake in particular because of all the cut content and dropped storylines from the game left a lot to explore. One game to tie in all of the expanded content.
This song is combo of soooo many other songs from FF7, too. It's got the Opening Theme (Bombing Mission), the battle theme (Fighting), the boss theme (Fight On!) and the overall leitmotif used in several other themes in the game. It's a culmination of everything rolled into one for this part.
FFXIV is indeed a floodgate, but it's a drop in the water if you start listening to the music of the entire FF series. The original FFVII soundtrack is what really opened my ear for music as a kid and ultimately led me on the path to being a musician. Not only that, but the original FFVII being made my all time favorite game has that, the music, and everything about that game close to my heart. FFVII Remake's soundtrack took that love and nostalgia, cranked it up to 11, and even introduced me to something new all at once. The thing I love most about FFVII-R is how well the music evolves and blends in with the gameplay I'm experiencing and the visuals I'm seeing. It truly is a masterpiece in composing for and implementing the score in the game. I think that most of the videos on here of FFVII-R's music is visuals from the game as it's playing, so you should be able to find that easily. I am also really hoping that you are now being flooded with FFVII-R requests, and I hope that "Airbuster" is among the top.
You asked why the game got a remake. A youtuber called Maximillian Dood made a video titled "Why FFVII Is So Important To So Many People" that perfectly addresses why.
FF7 Remake...the soundtrack is just amazing (after finishing the game I just lost countless days listening to the soundtrack). You have literally hours upon hours of good content to react to with this game (Official soundtrack is more than 8h? And honestly hard to find a bad song there...).
I never actually had a chance to fully appreciate the music when I was playing because I was focused on fighting, but damn this does go harder than I remembered!
Music on original was great already, but with new sounds, ideas and remixed versions, it's even better. An nostalgia hits so hard, that the very moment you hear the first piano note in certain track, you are lost xD When soundtrack makes you stop playing the game and just enjoying the moment, it's awesome :)
It's a mash up of all the final fantasy battle themes over the years, modernised for the remake of course. "Let the battles begin" is my favourite by far. The one you said that's a nice melody.
I love playing that part intil u get to the end with Sepiroth at the toll booth then it spiral to hell after... I need to get the PS5 to play the dlc for it since it look fun with yuffie 😞. Still awesome music choice.
This game and its soundtrack are phenomenal. The original game is fantastic and the remake perfectly captured the spirit of the original while still feeling new and familiar at the same time. I highly recommend Smash Em Rip Em from this game as well. Its a remix of Tifa's theme and its super high energy and has a great flow to it.
What amazing is the melody you've heard were composed like 25 years ago by the legend Nobuo Uematsu who set standard for all of the FF music. And these track in FF7 remake and also in FF14 were the evolved version of what he does. In here FF7R is more of remixing those great music people already loved and listened over the decade, Bend it into the exciting unexpected jam that even you listen to the original for millions of time but you still be surprised by this. Added that in FF14 case is more of new music from the same legendary composer that continuously adapt into different tune for different feels over this 8 years by another genius you may already remembered his name Masayoshi Soken.
"Why did this get a remake" So funny story actually..They originally were gonna remake it way back in the 2000s, like pre-2010. It just took them forever to actually do anything. But yea, it's mostly cuz it's one of the most popular and well known games of all time, and deserved a remake.
On my play through of this part, there's always too much going on to really focus on the music. In a way, listening to this with you was also my first reaction to really paying attention to the track. And your facial reactions really express when something cool is going on haha
The original is my all time favorite game, when the remake is complete I believe it’ll overtake the title. This part was so awesome in the remake. Also it got a remake because it’s a much beloved game and needed that modern justice lol
How I felt during this was "Don't let up on the throttle. Full power!!!" XD. Re listening to this brought back many memories. I was fully max level with every character had as much gear as I could for the ending fight and thouroghly enjoyed the game. Then intergrade came out and I'm just like "Why? Ps5's are hard to get." XD
Funny thing about you saying thank you for the one person's 3 songs, this was a medley of (at least) 3 songs in one! I don't say this in regards to "oh, the originals are so good", but you should check out Original FF7's: Opening-Bombing Mission Let the Battles Begin Crazy Motorcycle Chase. At least i think those names are accurate. They're the first mission's theme, standard Battle music, and original version of the escape sequence in this video, respectively. You should check them out, even if not as a reaction, but to see where THIS version got it's respective parts.
Played the OG FF7, watched Advent Children countless times, and then finally got my PC copy of the remake... it's like both the OG game and the movie made sweet love and this is the result. It was hard for me to stop playing, just because both the game and the music, somehow, will keep you wanting for more. And before you know it, it's 3AM and there's an alarm clock waiting for you...
Final Fantasy VII is praised extremely highly in the gaming world and more so among Final Fantasy Games. It's one of the most well loved games with well loved characters. A lot of people were asking for a Remake or at least hoped it could be. There's a lot more to the game in comparison to the original on the PS1. Any FF fan that loves VII or even if not a fan of Final Fantasy but loves VII were hyped. I'm a Final Fantasy fan and VII introduced me to Final Fantasy. I'm so happy it go remade. I was quite hyped at this part. I loved the original minigame for this part (Crazy Motorcycle as it's known) and this just amped it. A lot more intense and interactive. I wasn't expecting the boss fight with that robot while riding the bike. That was both hectic and thrilling! I just 😱.
This Is a pretty badass theme, not my favorite In the entire game, but pretty close. Definitely looking forward to seeing your reactions to other FF7R music! :D
Edit: Forgot "one winged angel" is the meme video as he hasn't done that one yet lol. I don't know if it is something you would look at, but there is covers of FF7 songs by someone called artificial fear on YT, with some great metal covers of "Those who fight" "Jenova" and "One winged angel", that I think you'd really enjoy
The original version of this was more 80s/90s techno because of the limits of midi technology, I'd say (although i love the charm the midi music of the original game had). And you noticed the bass when i did too haha it is sick indeed! It still has the same vibe as the original though :)
7:54 Alright I'm super late to the party, but that melody is the main melody of one of the main battle themes! If you look up "FF7 OST - Fighting/Those Who Fight" you'll find the original. If you look up "FF7 Remake OST - Those Who Fight" and "FF7 Remake OST - Crab Warden Theme", you'll find two different versions from the Remake, both of which are incredible. The Carb Warden Theme is definitely the most epic version though, great variations on the main melody that build hype really well!
The motorcycle chase in the original FF7 was one of my favorite moments in the whole game, and the music they wrote for it really contributed towards that. However, in the remake, I feel like they amped the music up so much that it's almost on par with the gameplay and cutscenes in how well it revs you up. It all ties together for a truly visceral, adrenaline-soaked experience that really honors not just the original chase scene, but also the original game as whole.
They create tension in this whole scene of the motorcycle chase by forcing you to sort of choose between attacking and keeping pace. The buttons for speeding up and attacking were both face buttons so most people would be using their thumb for either. So it was all this, "Push Push Push, Ok I can attack now.... shit now I'm too far behind!" feeling where you were always having to try really hard to keep up. The music lent itself to this really well with the high adrenaline feel.
It's cool how they take the motorcycle race theme (The Chase) and mix in melodic ideas from all three of the battle themes in the game. This game was already great at using leitmotif before the remake, and it's phenomenal now. I didn't know how much they could improve on the original'a soundtrack, but they found a way.
Playing the game with music like this is an adrenaline high, feels like drugs, but I live for this stuff. If the music fits the scene I live for it. And I remember a comment on this track elsewhere saying; "So we made 12 versions of this, which one do you want?" "Yes" Accurate
If you need a recommendation on Final Fantasy 7 music. I would say that you should listen to the music on Credits in the game Crisis Core - Final Fantasy VII Japan disc (since the Japan version has more music). Final Fantasy 7 music is great, but I still appreciate the music of the original version, and especially the full version in the Crisis Core game. You can listen to it live from here. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-k5Rhsz3mGDo.html
About the footage for the video, I do recommend caring about that sorta thing since games are an interactive medium, what’s happening in the background assists the music as much as the music assists the background
