THANK YOU!! First and only FF game I ever played. Been looking for this demo for years (whenever the FF7 remake was announced)…erroneously thought this was FF7, not FF8. 10-year-old me never completed the demo, instead spent countless hours hopelessly fighting that damn 4-legged spider then switched back to Tony Hawk. Appreciate the nostalgia trip.
@@jcdenton6577 Tension building works too but they don't accomplish that either. I think they just wanted the intro of the game to be that cutscene so they fit it in the way they did. Look at every other FF. They almost all start in medias res to some extent. But whatever. I just feel it was a missed opportunity.
Really a shame, the demo music created an amazing atmosphere that just wasn't present in the original. I remember being heartbroken that they took it out and that Rinoa wasn't actually in that section
@@ubergamer2010 I honestly don't see what the unused music adds that The Landing doesn't do better - it may be just be because the Landing was the first version I heard and I'm not sure if this demo actually came out in the UK, or if we perhaps got a different version that was closer to the final game
wow can't believe I found this. Watching this brings back so many memories. I played this back when I was around 6 lol . Had 0 clue as to what was going on but its so crazy how everything comes back to me watching this.
Interesting to see so many differences in the demo. The draw magic animation is different. No jumping off the cliff. Rinoa being there instead of Selphie. Seifer being a lot nicer and acting more like a leader.
Made it past the winged dragon thing in the demo (Elvoret?) but no matter how much I tried as a kid, I couldn't get past the spider; it'd end up killing me before I could get away.
i have this memory of Squall telling Zell to leave when you do the Limit Break on the Robot. On the official game it doesn't happened. Can you confirm this? It's suppose to happened mid limit break. It gives you the option of fleeing but zell says no, not sure if you can flee tho.
I was so happy when i got this demo disc. I had no idea it was going to come with our pizza. It was the first time i really got into final fantasy. I played part 4 when i was like six...😑 I was six. I had to ask my older sister what a wird means every three or four minutes. And she got tired of that. I got to the desert area 😅 i rented it.
I just thought of something. What if originally there weren't suppose to be levels and experience points in FFVIII o . o. If that were the case the junction system would make a whole lot of sense. Maybe they got cold feet about changing the basics so much and added Exp and levels at the last minute. O . o
Also because she's on the game cover. She's important in the game so she got the spot where Seifer/Sephie were in without spoiling enough of the story.
I'll add that similar to this, Aeris was featured in the FF7 demo that was packaged with Tobal No. 1. The FF7 demo featured the bombing mission. Aeris was not in the party for that in the final game, but was there during the demo (and had the Leviathan materia on top of it!). I think Square just packaged things in the demos that would be interesting to people viewing the demo, even if there was no intention for it to appear that way in the final game.
