Final Solution for Port St. Johns Garrick and Kob Slaughter
Well first off, apologies for going so quiet. I was on a secret mission in the Transkei somewhere. Job just finished. For obvious reasons none of the fish I caught on this trip can feature in this video.But. Watch this space!
Second apology is to the individuals who work at DAFF. Please understand that as a collective you guys are ineffective and things have to change. And we as anglers, are here to help. 100%.
I am back in the studio now. And will be publishing content on a far more regular basis again.
This rant touches on many sensitive subjects and I am open to conversation so please feel free to comment with your thoughts. Positive or negative. It all counts towards a greater understanding for us all. Abuse...ummm...you will just lose your own credibility anyways. So. No!
When you are done watching, please consider a Like and Subscribe so that I stay inspired to keep up the struggle. Thank you to all viewers and subscribers thus far.
We are mainly short of environmental lawyers and the like. But any constructive contribution is most welcome.
Let's do this!
Like and Subscribe to ensure more content like this will flow. We got lots of rogue government organisations to roast. Starting with DAFF!

I love the idea of paying people to tag fish! If this could be done during breeding season that would be amazing. Will keep an eye on your RU-vid channel, would like to get involved somehow!

Shane, we got to get some corporates to sponsor fish at R350 each, what do you think? We can make this go a long way if we get some momentum up before it all starts again. I am prepared to spend that time down there over the breeding season...but we will need a crew!

I love that you are taking initiative! I am also gatvol of this situation. Couple of questions: 1) how would you monitor these catch, tag and releases to ensure these fish were infact caught and safely/properly tagged and released. 2) would financially incentivising these catches not encourage catches to be made by any means possible including jigging?

Hi Timothy. Thank you for your positive reply. I was getting worried! But ok. We all know that DAFF will not take the initiative. But they might align and allow it. As far as the programme on the ground is concerned, I wholeheartedly volunteer. I will gladly spend the three or so months down there tagging every fish I can find. Illegal methods will not be tolerated now that there is a healthy alternative to generating income. It would have to be a corporate style operation with signed receipts and video documentation of every fish. It is not far up and down the estuary, so one or two boats, in busy times, kitted out with tags and a good crew will do the job. Maybe a land unit too. This will all need to be paid for by corporate money or donations so lets get cracking. Thank you again. If you have any ideas or know people who can help put this together, please!

Glad you think so! It would work totally...save everyone's interests...now i just got to find someone at DAFF to sell their cool government (taxpayer) paid hilux and give us the money! And the petrol card! Imagine what we could do with that!

Why not go and get a 100m,200m,300m nilon rope and string it between some concrete drums along the stretches where most of the jigging it's being done. That can be removed once the season is done . If the loose enough tackle then maybe they slow down.

@TheSardineNews
@TheSardineNews Год назад
Yes they certainly are. As soon as the DAFF ignoramus turn their backs and leave town, the jiggers come straight back. The real sad part is that the DAFF ous spend millions of Rands on vehicles and accommodation each time they come to PSJ. And yet they cannot achieve a thing. Let alone build an understanding with the locals who fish for a living. DAFF conducted raids on these poor people. Finding one fish between 20 families. Using so many resources. They even got guns?! And yet as of today, they have not made an inch of progress in stopping the unabated slaughter. They promise to hand out fishing licenses, then come back and catch those same people that they made the promise to. This goes on and on each year...with no end in sight. Luckily the floods and weather protected some of the fish this year...

Thanks Karl. The bigger the name the less those guys care. Luckily some smaller guys have stopped selling trebles in PSJ and things. But the big names are simply not interested. In fact, nobody is really...

I like you idea, it benefits both the hungry fishermen and the fish population, however this country only understands corruption.....fake tags, fake fish, tags gone missing Yada Yada Yada....if this was any other country your idea would solve the problem for sure.

I watched half your video, looks like u more interested in targeting government employees, if u want to make a difference contact the relevant people don't come talk about fuel costs n things, those cars are meant for multiple users, I work in this department and agree that not enough is done for environmental security, but if you want to make a difference. Don't target government workers, lots of us work tirelessly you have your exceptions but this video is actually just far from helpful but more a shit of DARD this is not DAF

Mishaan I disagree. I have extensive experience in government as a public servant and this is the reality. Whether there are hard workers or not, reality is that as enterprises we drop the ball more than we catch it. Don’t take this personally, help direct it to the right channels and see what may come of it.

But ok, as you said - if anyone knows anyone in the relevant circles that can help move us along towards this project, please let them know. Thank you again for getting involved in the conversation. @mr maharaj. I read the 1st couple of sentences of your post and immediately knew you work for this same government department. I notice at the Hibberdene change over on the N2 that your nice bakkies just drive past the poachers that sell under size crayfish and Shad . Care to enlighten me why your department does nothing about this poaching.
