Hey gang, what do we think of the more casual video style? Time constraints forced this one on me, but it felt good to just chill while recording too. : ) Peace and love!

I like this style. Your office looks really cool. I'm so excited for cs2! This trailer and the videos about it that people have made have convinced me to make the jump to the new game. It looks like it will be so much easier to play. At least, it looks like building will be easier. I'm sure I will be pre-ordering. I can hardly wait for starting out with the help I know you will give.

Amazing video as usual Toadie! :) Cities: Skylines 1 definitely allowed me to creatively develop my design ache, but also (weirdly enough) helped me with my University assignments as Im studying architecture. I see Cities Skylines as a canvas, awaiting an artist to masterfully craft a work that develops and grows :)

I really like your take on the trailer. I am a retired subway motorman who is also very much into inner city transport, like metros and trams, as a hobby ( as if the screen name doesn't already tell that). So I didn't start playing CS1 until after the trams and metros came along. Until then I was content with Cities in Motion 2. My first impressions of CS1 as a player admittedly left me a bit nonplussed as to who exactly goes to a blimp station to go to and from work. Still the DLC that really pulled me into CS1 was Industries. That was when everything "clicked into place" for me with CS1. The next major milestone for me was Sunset Harbor, which was sort of a graduation of Mass Transit, although the trolleybuses came "a day late and a dollar short". Finally, the Hotels and Resorts, at long last addressed the tourism industry which is a mainstay in any modern day city. But it doesn't seem to really do much for the tour buses. In my cities most of the tourists are riding the regular transit buses, metros and trams. I was lukewarm about CS2 initially, but with so many of the mods (and trams) now incorporated into the base game, I am becoming much more excited about it.
@ToadieZzz
@ToadieZzz Год назад
Yeah, resonate with this for sure. Especially Industries DLC. I feel like it's the one DLC that really adds a bit of challenge - having to manage supply/demand and traffic. Good stuff!

My feelings were giddiness, comfort and trust --- CO and Paradox really have thought and planned this -- We aren't being taken back to CS1 base level which is astounding, there are amazing tech changes behind the scenes (this needs to happen because they've hit the limit of the old game) and they are giving us some new stuff. Absolutely stoked! CS1 feelings, favorites and gripes --- My first video game that I purchased (separate from what came with the original Nintendo) was Sims City 1. City building has been a core game activity for me for years. I buy new systems for it (woot I guessed correctly about CS2 last year and the system I bought (on meets suggested specs). I do play other games but always come back to city building. When I first saw Cities Skylines I was just amazed at the scope. Sim City was going to always online and tiny tiny cities while Cities Skylines understood that at core it's about what the players create (LOL you should have seen some of the highway interchanges created, not realistic in any sense but such fun) - not what they buy. Yes there are a lot of DLC but no one has to buy any of them. The other thing I loved was building my first asset -- a park that I still use to this day. My hope is that CS2 allows console players to do some creation with assets.
@ToadieZzz

Great takeaways Toadie. When I found Cities Skylines it was just an automatic thumbs up for me. The learning curve was pretty quick with great content creators doing build guides and helpful tip videos. I started on PS4 and loved the game there but always felt I was missing out on the true experience of not doing it on PC. I bought a gaming PC and love all that the workshop has to offer. I am not heavily modded at all with less than 100 total. I love the maps most of all and just the beginning of something new and seeing where a build takes you.

Hello, thank you for the video! Thanks for letting us know about the update. I was hooked by CS from the early live streams they did when the game launched. It had a much deeper feeling in terms of design and management of the city compared to other games. It made me want to experience that, I even bought a new laptop just to be able to play it. My first impression was how immersive it was, every road and every building mattered and they were all interconnected. The vehicles didn't just spawn, citizens were going from A to B, the same as cargo vehicles. I felt myself a real city planner and I cared about those cims :) Making transport lines in different colours was something that impressed me the most when I played it for the very first time. It was OCD or perfectionist's paradise for me. Every new DLC was exciting, especially parks and airport dlc, I have never seen something like that before. Industries impreseed me as well with their production chains. Developers really listened to the community and made the game better and better. Cities I've built were really ALIVE. It taught me so much about urban planning. I'm greateful.

I started to play this game last year. It has been a year. It is very addictive and time flies by very quickly. My favorite part is building industrial areas and downtown areas. I love to just watch pedestrians come and go at busy streets with the radio on. My least favorite things are the futuristic buildings, growables, uniques, monuments etc and the amount of tourist cars. I'm happy 2 is focused on realistic buildings. Oh, and the bugs after the updates. The last one technically killed my town by rapidly decreasing the tourist population (+hardly anybody is using public transport and no commercial demand)...
@SecretKeeperForever9
@SecretKeeperForever9 Год назад
The rather futuristic style to these assets has me thinking there is going to be time progression to show city progression because you could be playing a city for a hundred years currently and it still looks very well 'modern' by our standards. As someone that also really loves the historical city builders this makes me excited because it opens more possibility there may be retro/past DLC so we could start from a very founding of an city to a ultra-futuristic version of the same city. I've been thinking about this when the industrial evolution pack came out. There is at least in base game a strong indication of there being time progression for futuristic style buildings.

When I first played CS I was overwhelmed I'm not going to lie, but in a good way. I thought it was so cool to make a city with so many different features and things factoring into your city. I began playing it in May 2020 when the PS store had the game free for PS Plus members, and by then I was already familiar with the game, from watching Biffa's videos. So I decided to try it out, and here I am 3 years later a big fan of the game and how far its come. I'll miss CS I for sure but I'm ready to move onto CS II

When I was 15 years old, still in junior high school, I became absolutely fascinated with infrastructure, buildings, and modern cities. The mere thought of designing my very own city consumed my every waking moment. I voraciously consumed countless videos showcasing massive buildings, awe-inspiring arenas, and magnificent dams. It was during this time that I stumbled upon a video showcasing a game that featured one of the cities in my own country. I had never heard of Cities: Skylines before, but little did I know, it was about to change my life forever. As I delved deeper into the realms of RU-vid, more and more content creators emerged, sharing their experiences with Cities: Skylines. Biffa, Raptor, City Planner Plays, ImKibitz, Flabaliki, Imperatur, and many others captivated me with their gameplay and city-building prowess. Every day, after school, I eagerly rushed home, my heart pounding with excitement, to watch their latest videos. It was as if the game had seeped into my dreams, an inseparable part of my imagination. My burgeoning technical skills eventually led me down a regrettable path. With a mix of guilt and longing, I resorted to pirating the game. I remember the anticipation building within me as I installed it on my sister's Lenovo laptop. That night, the sheer excitement welled up within me as I witnessed the loading screen for the first time. Alas, my hopes were dashed when the game failed to run due to hardware issues. Disheartened but undeterred, I tried again the following day, and finally, my perseverance paid off. The game ran, albeit at a mere 3 frames per second, but I was grateful nonetheless. With sheer determination, I managed to construct a humble one-tile neighborhood, my very own masterpiece in the making. Fast forward four years, and I now have a personal computer of my own. I purchased Cities: Skylines on the Epic Games Store, although I missed the opportunity to get it for free by a mere two days back in March 2022. Since then, I have immersed myself in the game countless times with 70+ hours of gameplay. Despite the limitations imposed by my lack of a dedicated GPU, causing the city simulation to slow down, I find myself compelled to start over again and again. Yet, even in the face of these challenges, I cannot help but feel an indescribable bond with the game-a beautiful relationship filled with ups and downs, trials and triumphs. Cities: Skylines, thank you for being a constant companion on my journey.

Finishing your video, it made me think, with the gentle hum of my computer and the soft glow of the screen, I can't help but be overwhelmed by a wave of nostalgia and emotion. It's been 4 years since I first ventured into Cities Skylines, but the impact CS had on me remains as vivid as ever. When I first started on the journey of building my own city, I was filled with a sense of excitement and anticipation. The blank canvas before me held endless possibilities, and the responsibility of shaping the lives of virtual citizens was both exhilarating and daunting. But little did I know that it would become so much more than just a game. In those early moments, as I meticulously planned out the road networks and zoning districts, I felt a surge of creativity coursing through my veins. Each decision felt significant, as I strived to create a harmonious balance between efficiency and aesthetics. The joy of seeing my city come to life, with its bustling streets, soaring skyscrapers, and intricate infrastructure, was indescribable. It was like watching my dreams materialize before my eyes. A chunk of it was also an inspiration from the community! But it wasn't just about the technical aspects of city management. You taught me valuable lessons about empathy, resilience, and the delicate interplay between progress and sustainability (Natural Disasters DLC broke me.) I witnessed the ebb and flow of my city's economy, the impact of my policies on the lives of its inhabitants, and the consequences of my actions. It made me acutely aware of the challenges faced by real-world city planners and policymakers, and it deepened my appreciation for the intricate tapestry of urban life. Beyond the mechanics and strategies, Cities Skylines became my sanctuary, a refuge from the complexities of the world especially in the pandemic. In times of stress or uncertainty, I would lose myself in the peaceful rhythm of urban construction, finding solace in the simple act of building a better tomorrow. The gentle music and the soothing visuals became my companions, accompanying me on this meditative journey of creation. And then there were the moments of awe and wonder, when I would zoom out and witness the sheer scale and beauty of the metropolis I had forged. The twinkling lights, the flowing rivers, and the vibrant neighborhoods painted a picture of a thriving community that I had brought to life. It was in those moments that I felt a profound sense of pride and accomplishment, knowing that I had built something meaningful and enduring. Thank you so much Cities Skylines!

I think I always felt relaxed playing cs1 and it’s also satisfying seeing everything work when you created something good! I always thought the thing I wanted cs2 to fix was agent limits because when you built a big city and hit the agent limit the city went very dead and quiet and lost all the challenge of traffic management etc. So hopefully cs2 can sustain larger cities and make use of newer more powerful computers.

Cities: Skylines is a game I've played mainly casually over the years I've had it. Always enjoyed it more as a toy to fuss with occasionally rather than doing anything hardcore. A few months ago though, my son (8 yrs) discovered a version of Sim City on his tablet's play store and seemed to be enjoying himself so I introduced him to Cities: Skylines, and he's never looked back. We don't typically play the same types of games. I'm more of a PC gamer generally, into shooters, colony builders, simulations and survival / sandbox games, those sorts of things. He's definitely of this new tablet / phone generation...typically more into games that are quick & fun but somewhat light on depth (though he also does love Minecraft which I give credit for being somewhat deeper creatively than the other stuff). Skylines though has definitely hit different for him, clearly. Playing it with him on the regular has honestly got to be one of the most awesome experiences I've had as a dad so far. It's definitely much more than just a fun toy to me now. It's the first "real video game" (yea I know my PC Master Race bigotry is showing 😆) that he and I have bonded over and I wouldn't trade that for the world. Looking forward to making many more memories with him there and in 2 when it finally rolls around.

Cities Skylines 1 for me was at first just another city builder like SimCity but the difference is that I couldn't stop playing! The best way to describe the feeling is: "unlimited creative possibilities". I've always felt that real life cities were ugly because of the repeating grid, squares shapes/straight lines, too many cars and not enough green spaces. In CS I could finally "paint" cities I had in my imagination, ie super green & organic flowing shapes. Then when I found out that there were tons and tons of mods made by players to increase creative potential even more, my mind went obsessed with trying all kinds of layouts & scenarios to the point of spending hours drawing plans & having a hard time to sleep from the excitement. There's also the feeling of satisfaction from making all your citizens happy & healthy. The only piece of the puzzle missing for me is a real gaming PC so I can play with Ultra settings & Hyper Realistic graphics while maintaining high FPS ( I know that's a Tall Order but One Day hopefully!). To add even more awesomeness, strimmers & RU-vidrs like ToadieZzz make the whole experience so much richer! Can't wait to see what ya'll gon'do in CS2 !!!

When I built a city in CS, I spent a lot of time building it but then at some point, I always abandoned the city because there was no real purpose. My feeling was, what have I been spending my time on? I hope CS2 has more purpose, challenges or missions, and less focus on just building a nice city with only buildings that will reach level 5 anyway at some point. Also got annoyed with the traffic simulation when the city grew (I play vanilla but it felt mandatory to use traffic mods as core systems were missing).

The Plaza of Transference needs to be places next to the city's main transit hub. That's the obvious place to put a teleportation station. hold on, new thought: Could this mean one could make a mod that takes this functionality and uses it for a 2x2 teleportation station or maybe even a 2x1 Stargate thing?

To answer your "cry for help", The first time I played Cities; Skylines I was very confused and overwhelmed. My first city went bankrupt almost immediately after I unlocked emergency services. I then left the game alone for a few weeks, until Natural disasters came out. I bought it, built a quick city with infinite money and just destroyed it with all the disasters over and over. This got boring quick, then I left the game alone again. When Mass transit came out, I decided to pick it up and try once more with C:S. I still played with infinite money just so I could map out my city with no constraints, however much like a Sims player builds a giant shoebox as their first house, my city was disproportionate with its district sizes and neighbourhoods, but as I built up this city I designated areas of the map for different zones. It wasn't until fairly recent, when Hubs and Transport released that I started a new city and, rather than treating it as a target to hit, I viewed it more like a painting, being patient and careful with each neighbourhood. I still like to play with infinite money, but that's more for the ability to lay down roads and rail networks first and build my districts from there. My most current city now generates on average C//120,000.00 a day and I have a booming population just over 100K. Some may judge me for using infinite money, but I believe the beauty of a sandbox is to let creativity flourish, plus if the devs didn't want us to use infinite money, they wouldn't have coded it into the game, and they certainly wouldn't show as much support for mods like Move It and Traffic Management. My city has lore and depth, and each borough has its own story to tell. Cities: Skylines, to me is an escape from a turbulent, unpredictable, disillusioned world on the brink of a climate/AI/nuclear catastrophe, and having control over a fake city is better than having no control in real life.

What they really should fix is the traffic.... not realistic at all. I can have a city of 50-100k people in skylines 1, ridiculous number of highways, intersections, tunnels every 3 blocs etc. and there is traffic. Meanwhile irl I live in a city of 500.000, with 10x less road infrastructure and there is "some" traffic in rush hour. But it's, like, if you need to wait for 3 light cycles and will be 15 minutes later than if there is 0 traffic, it will be reported in local radio as a "traffic jam on road xyz, drivers beware".......

I was hooked on Cities: Skylines even though I didn't have a proper computer to run it. Now, I'm hoping Cities: Skylines II will not leave me behind because of my computer (iMac late 2015). I get involved with my cities spending hours trying to make it easier for the Sims to get around. It's so easy to get lost in details.

CS1 was kinda frustrating for me as i was not able to play the game as is should be due playing it on an ancient laptop. It took me a little over eight years to finally own a decent enough gear to play the game an by that time i was so behind the rest of the world that i just enjoy watching the many Tubers making some awesome cities. I'd also want to mention the modding community. Without them CS1 would never have been what it is today. 😊

Slightly worried about the CS 2 specs on PC. 2080ti/6800xt for the recommended specs? First of all, why so high? Plus the 6800xt is better than the 2080ti for the most part. Is it because of the upscaling/dowscaling tools and raytracing? Just seems so bizarre to ask for such specs for this game. What is this, Cyberpunk? x)

As I watch many CC from Cities Skylines, after the trailer nobody spoke about little details, such as assigning specific buildings to certain districts. This option was shown with the university fragment. Also, upgrades of buildings, much more realistic infrastructure and many options of industry are a big +. BUT I am most frustrated about these strangely looking crossings, like in CS1. You are laying this tremendously beautiful roads and suddenly BAM a pedestrian crossing at a strange angle and you cannot straighten them up. I am also worrying that Collosal would like to exploit the game for years as it was with CS2. I hope that most of the stuff such as bus lane roads or dunno, pedestrian roads, we will get in the base game

Not a regular, but I can share my experience. The thing with CS1 for me was that if you want your City to look any good, you're gonna have to force it to look good. You can't make a nice City through the course of gameplay, you have to stop, go place props, decals, and it just feels like setting a scene in blender. What's also irritating is that the city doesn't really grow. I was transitioning from SC4 and the fact that you don't get growth stages increasing naturally as your city expands is uninteresting. It makes your city feel dead. Like it doesn't live on its own. The building level system also doesn't help the case since at least for me it's confusing. It does... what exactly? You get better houses or larger houses or what? What's the impact? After reading up on that I found out that it changes the house model, but doesn't really do anything big. The game is also very beige and desaturated on vanilla. Most things are light grey which isn't very interesting to look at. That's all of my first impressions, and why I stopped on a single city.
