In this episode we finish with stripping the antifouling of our hull. On about a third of the hull the paint is so broken that we strip the hull down to bare steel. A tough job with the needle gun and the angle grinder, but one that will be worth it once we get to rebuild our underwater hull. This is one huge step in the refit of our steel expedition sailboat,

1tip try to import terco rotary blaster. I think its a dutch product but is works perfect!! Can Bay it in 1/2/3 blade for a drill and 5 blad on 1 special fine machine. Used it on my boat in 1 day it's going to bare steel.

Yeah the terco wheel is pretty great! We are using the 2 wheel variant. We still found it to be a bit too slow touse for the whole bittom of the boat, but for smaller patches down to bare steel its perfect!

Good question! We stripped the keel botom to bare steel and build up new epoxy, tie coat and antifouling as well.

Can I ask how much paint remover you used?

Can't remember the exact amount. The stuff is pretty aggressive, so we used it economically. I think it was around 6L. Depends on the brand as well, there is special nautical stuff and it will have the surface area that it can be used for on the packaging.
