Gaara and Shinki prove that it’s possible to have a father son connection despite being the kage of his village, and Shinki isn’t even his own son. So I do feel a bit bad for Boruto that Naruto was never willing to train him.
After rewatching Naruto repeatedly I have come to realize something quite important...Naruto never wanted a family he wanted to be Hokage...so he would have respect and acknowledgment. Throughout the whole series his goals/ambitions/ thoughts all were to get his Sasuke back and become Hokage, not "I want more friends," "I need a girl," and "I want to have unconditional love." There was no "I'm going to be a better dad" moment that I can recall. *This is not an excuse for him dropping the ball/ having no interest in his family.
Bro what 😂 Obviously when you’re a kid you say “ I want to be an astronaut” not “ I will give my children the unconditional love I didn’t receive as a kid”. But Naruto did initially blame his dad for not being there for him and it was a reoccurring theme of him watching other people leave with their parents and being sad that he does not have parents. It got to the point where there were full scenes showcasing how much he appreciated Jiraiya and Iruka as father figures. I get what you’re saying, but the argument that he mentioned being hokage as a kid doesn’t really hold up.
i think its less of naruto never having parents so he would smother his kids they way he wasn't but more of naruto never had parents and doesn't know how a parent should really treat their child so he doesn't know the correct way to go about his work and kids balance
Honestly I see naruto's screw up as it being the result of how he lived as a child. Everyone avoided him when he was a kid, and I feel like he basically didn't learn some social skills because of it, and he grew used to being alone, so he assumes boruto would get used to it as well, and so he never realises how much he's screwing up

Naruto shouldnt even be letting hinata raise his children, she should be on missions for the villiage and himiwari should already be in training to also be a ninja. Vinland saga actually shows being a child soldier as a traumatic horrible thing. They dont have it both ways and its much better for it.
How is Naruto supposed to know how to be a good dad when He never had one nor even saw one as an exemple. Plus Naruto went from "I have no family" to "the whole village is my family". Those two factors explain why Naruto is so akward around Boruto. He doesn't how to be with him, how to act ,cause he never saw how a father is supposed to act, and He refuse to prioritize him or Himawari and Hinata over the rest of the village because it is litterally what being Hokage means to him : being port of a big familly where everyone eeds protevtion and attention, not just the Hokage's son.
To be fair, if my dad adopted 50k+ people into our family and suddently had no time for me and my sister anymore, I'd feel and act exactly like Boruto. Boruto is right that there is no reason for Naruto to live 24/7 in the hokage's office and Naruto is right that it is his duty to protect the whole village and make saccrifices in his personal life for the most important job in the village. But this is neither about Boruto nor about Naruto being right. This is about them acting in a very human way in their situation, the rift that forms between them due to lack of communication and refusal to open up, aswell as their inevitable reconciliation. In peace times tiny problems can tear families apart, but when shit goes down, love and familial bonds outweigh everything. Life is hard and managing all responsibilities at the same time takes practice. I love that Naruto's family is not perfect, but they love and care for each other deeply. That's all I wished for him since the first episode of Naruto.

I dont see how thats any different than putting on technology that lets you do jutsu. Is cheating only ok if its organic? @@nullakjg767 That is true and Konohamaru uses the same tool as Boruto in the movie. The issue is that the chunin exams are a test of skill as a Shinobi. It's hard to judge that when there's a ninja tool that gives you access to a wide variety of jutsu with no cost to one's own chakra. It's perfectly fine on a mission but in a test setting it overcomplicates things

You’re misunderstanding naruto at this point of the story. His goals, his job and duties as a father. He was a great father until he became hokage. Its only been a few years. Plus, he didnt have a father to show him how much it means to be there so he cant fully grasp the same feeling/concepts. It all makes sense the more you watch

Naruto’s bad parenthood is definitely the cause of Boruto’s path. I’m not saying that Boruto isn’t to blame for cheating, but at this point Naruto didn’t even raise his children he was just occasionally there. Naruto literally had a nicer relationship with Sarada and those few episodes than he does with Boruto 💀 I blame Kishimoto for this, even if he wanted to have that theme of Naruto being a bad father, he could’ve nuanced it just a bit to the point where it doesn’t seem like it’s everything else > Boruto. At this point Naruto would rather do house chores than spend time with Boruto.

What I don't get is why Naruto doesn't just make an army of clones to do all of his hokage work which he already kinda did during the war. In my view Naruto's the president or at least the mayor of the village which is a lot of responsibility, we could only hope that someone like Naruto got to positions of power, willing to throw away his personal needs for the people but when you can literally clone yourself and they're perfect copies you don't even have to do that so what gives.
That is what he has been doing, you can see that in other episodes he took an interview, to check on other projects I think, that time he sent one to his house. But everytime the clone disappears all of the knowledge and experiences are sent back, that's why he is so tired at the end of the day.
The writing needs naruto to have some excuse to be a deadbeat. This is the easiest cop out for the author. He easily could hire people to help but won’t.

But when Naruto became hokage, he was very dedicated to his work that he often neglected his family because that's his dream. Reason Mitzuki dont want to go sage mode is that Orochimaru forbid him, he wont be able to stay in Konoha whit Boruto i fthey know about his power. What always bothered me was that boruto could have gone to see naruto at anytime. But the same can be said about naruto especially since the man can use clones like clock work and just have them work for a bit. You see naruto with other kids more than his own lol.
How can Boruto just go to see him at any time? While he is at work in the office? That's not who he wants to see, he wants his dad's attention not the Hokage. In the office Naruto is very different than he is at home, to the point he corrects Boruto and dissalowes him to call him dad in the Hokage office. Boruto has completely mentally separated Dad and Hokage in his mind as was made very clear in the first few arcs. Naruto is just the hokage to Boruto while he is working, he doesn't even see him as just his dad in that situation so why would he go see him?
Nah Boruto cant see Naruto whenever he wants and that's pretty obvious. Naruto can tho but he specifically chooses not to because he thinks its more important to actually be in the office or out training the Jonin in order to ensure the Leaf is always safe and prepared.

Mitsuki didn't show his sage mode because it would "inconvenience his parent" and so he could "stay here longer". I copied and pasted an explanation from @Olarinde Olanrewaju on Quora below that explains it in full detail. "An OVA once said sage mode is banned due to the unfair advantage it will grant over other Chunnin hopefuls. It is a very advanced power that easily puts its wielder in Jounin level or higher depending on their pre-existing skill set. Also, being able to use sage mode at the age of 12/13 will bring about unwanted attention. People who have largely ignored Mitsuki will start to wonder about his ancestry and how he came to be in Konoha. Also, when it is noticed that his sage mode is snake themed, the smart ones will put it together and know there must be a connection between him and Orochimaru. This is something Orochimaru, Mitsuki and Naruto won’t want to happen because Konoha really isn’t much of an Orochimaru fan. He might have been forgiven, but people will be wary of him having a kid around tem and it can lead to a child Naruto situation all over again in which he would be ignored and distrusted for something that he can’t really help."
To put it simply without much spoilers its more because it puts strain and suffering on his body and organs and we all know that it makes him being alive and able to stay in konoha difficult. Especially as a synthetic human.

The problem is that they are testing their personal growth, abilities and skills so that they can become stronger themselves, if they let a tool do everything for them then they're gonna become dependant and when they don't have that tool they're gonna be defenseless
Naruto tought boruto about as much as the tool did, Naruto having kurama was basically cheating as the tailed beasts were being used as tools for power, being a shinobi is about using everything at your disposal to come out on top, I understand it's to rate their skills but just like the written exam in Naruto cheating is a huge shinobi skill and boruto didn't get caught till the end so he won imo, also using purple lightning like that might also awaiken deeper levels faster with the stress that comes with using powerful justu so I thought it was a cool idea to implement

Well Boruto didn’t NOT have parents. He had Hinata. And when you grow up in certain circumstances it’s always 50/50 what you’ll do. You’ll either do the same thing or work to change and be better. Naruto did both. He started off, as the father you pictured him to be. Until he became Hokage and then his time started being taken from them. Borito says this himself. I think you probably skipped the episode. Naruto simply sucked at balancing work and home. You’ll get the explanation in episode 65 from Naruto himself. Which I think you probably watched on patreon already. So I don’t think it doesn’t make sense. It’s not like Naruto was just never there ever from the time they were born. It gets resolved and their relationship flourishes from there. Also, about the animation with the purple lightning. If you watched the episodes you skipped, you would’ve seen much better animation than that. I really don’t know why you skipped the academy arcs. Boruto at this point doesn't give a damn about being ninja or the shinobi ways nor power, this isn't about winning or being the strongest like it was in OG for the others, he doesn't care about those things in the least, this is all about Naruto and his attention. No it was stated somewhere before that he can’t do that because the mental strain of doing it all will also be applied to all the clones so when he releases the jutsu it will be bad for his health

@@Koonski He definitely could. It's kind of a plot hole that they poorly tried to address. Naruto had hundreds of clones trying to apply wind style to the rasengan for hours and was fine until the clones didn't have enough chakra to subdue Kurama. Having a couple of clones do paperwork should be easy. If Gaara can make Shinki as strong as he is, Naruto should have had time to teach Boruto the rasengan at least. Hell, he could've asked Kakashi to help since he could teach Boruto a bunch more jutsu and has nothing but free time.
as far as I can remember he didn't. I'm pretty sure it's mentioned in one of the novels that Boruto learned shadow clone Jutsu by simply observing Naruto doing it a few times. pretty much them trying to show he's a prodigy from an early age.

The only reason that made Boruto cheat is the same reason that ACTUALLY made him participate in the Chunin Exams, which is Naruto watching him fight and ACTUALLY remember that he has kids, so if Naruto was a good father, and had trained at least a little with Boruto, he literally wouldn't have even one reason to cheat, and there is also Katatsuke, if he was not in a genjutsu, Boruto wouldn't have cheated.

Shippuden didn't animate ch700, the final chapter of naruto which established Naruto current mindset as hokage and his relationship with his children is why you probably feel naruto to be so jarring because the transition is sloppy.
