Ya thats why I look at my rate per mile so seriously. whether im working the truck, driving locally, deadheading somewhere, ect. A Mile is A Mile. If my truck is making me money every single mile. Then it's worth buying a new truck if it's making you money, or at least until you find a better opportunity in life. With that being said you really don't want to do hotshot more than 4 years anyways. It ought on family life and your health. But what hotshot is good for, is getting your feet into the door of the logistics industry. The Biggest industry in the world.

@@tg9388 nice! Ya the Diamond C’s are going to be more expensive but they are better quality. But no matter what you get brand wise. Make sure it has Air Ride. You will thank me later. Besides the fact that some loads you see on the load board require air ride, air Ride is safer and minimize the chance of your fright coming insecure. You won’t understand that until you drive through some of the cities in the country. The road can get “3rd world country bad. Also if you take an oil field load from Wyoming to Dallas. When you drop in Dallas you’ll be taking other freight. As a flatbed you can prefer to take one type of commodity but be prepared to take anything and everything you can.

@@Babylionhotshot Since I'm new I'll get your course, wait few months until my DOT/MC is setup then buy the correct trailer which seems to be Diamond C 35+5 with air ride, 17.5" tires, spread axles then buy it once my MC is ready.

Baby Steps. Trucking isn't going anywhere. Sometimes the steps you take are small but necessary. Have a vision, Stick to it, no matter what. There is a saying that goes "The easiest way to kill Big Dreams are to tell them to small minds". Know your Plan, Work toward it in silence. I know I keep that in the back of my mind.

Id say the biggest single number in my CPM(Cost Per Mile) is .60 Cents for my truck and trailer. My set up cost $120,000. (80k for the truck, 7k for the bed and 33K for the trailer.) I want my equipment paid off by 200,000 Miles. I know im paying it off aggressively but id rather cry now than cry later. Now once my truck and trailer are paid off, the trailer will pretty much last for a long time(idk exactly how long but it will out let the truck). The truck will probably run for another 150,000Miles I hope. Than that .60 Cents that im taking out for my equipment will go away and I'll be making real good money by my definition. But Paying off the equipment at a rate of .60 a mile is doable but does take discipline. I do wish you the best and I'll see you in the course. Im still adding to it but the main info is in there. step by step and exactly who to contact for your Cheap CDL. Setting up an LLC. Registering for your own USDOT Number and MC number and paying no sales tax on your equipment.

Ya you'er pretty much right. Definitely get rid of the dispatching free as soon as you can. All these things are a slow learning process but you're out there and trying. booking your own load is scary at first know your cost per mile and know what works for you. because believe it or not there are brokers out there that don't care if you make any money 😉. One thing to consider is that you will have to keep insurance for your trucking company on file with the FMCSA. And if you're running loads under another MC number and get into an accident, That might be a loophole for an insurance company not to pay out. IDK im not a professional with that stuff but one thing I can say.... is that once you get your own authority I highly doubt you will even last 2 months working for someone else when you can take the loads yourself and set up factoring straight into your bank account. Learn what you can as fast as you can with what you're doing right now, and start your own journey with your own company as soon as you feel comfortable. Also a major thing to keep in mind! If by some Miracle 40%of your gross is profit (which in my experience would be considered high, but lets stay on the best case scenario) and they are taking 10%. Thats 25% of your Profit. Having your own company will increase your profit 25%. And I know you know this and are on the right track. I wish you the best Concyman

since your younger than 21 I think a CDL Might be a killer for you. But there is a better route you can go down. FREIGHT BROKERING. Id look into it. You can have a nice long carrier and make lots of money after about a year or 2. I have hade over 3 brokers tell me they make 250k+ a year but full disclosure they had been doing it for 10+ years and or knew someone in the business already. Which I would recommend finding someone in the business to learn from anyways.good luck bro. I will eventually be a broker. shhh🤫

This is a tough business indeed! Thats a fact and the time away from home sucks. BUT.... when I first started this its almost like I didn't pick this but my back was against the wall and I had to do something. And that something had to make good money no Matter how much it sucked. With my back up against a financial wall when I started to now.... I think that this trucking thing could pull more people out of a financial hole if you are a hard working. Thats why I have the drive to make videos. I want success for everyone that want to put in the work and make sacrifices. One last point I do want to start saying on the channel is that Hotshot is just a starting place/ A Place where you can get yourself in a position to learn an industry while making money. (Unlike going to a school) Then you can shoot any which direction, for example... Freight brokering, Semi truck Driver, Hire people under your own authority, get into selling commercial truck insurance, heavy haul, dispatcher... So many opportunities its worth a look. It's hard and especially being away from home all the time. In my hart I do want to bring the truth about hotshot to people that are researching it just like you did. My Master Plan is to put all the CDL schools that charge 5K$ out of business and have schools all over the place that can get a CDL to someone for under $1,000. @Babylionhotshot I laughed really hard at your DOT remark. 🤣🤣 Yes, sir, people dont get it until they live it, and then its a constant battle to make enough money. Yeah, man, it's true even I got taken advantage of when first starting. Especially now with the cdl stuff, it's so expensive, but little do people know you can do online ELDT and then go test if you have your own equipment. It gets expensive and long when you have to go to someone's school and use their equipment to test. Happy New Year to you also, and I hope you have great success. Recommend producing another statistic... Profit ÷ total hours worked = earned hourly rate. Let "Total hours worked" = (booking time + load time + road time + off load time) With this number, one can compare this profession vs. other professions. It seems to me the money in trucking is in mechanical repair and towing. Then owning a fleet of rigs and hiring good people to run them. When not running, your people are retrieving & repairing broken down rigs. I don't know sh!t about trucking, but I know something about managing a fleet of planes. Principles from that industry could be applied to trucking. As an example, when hiring cargo pilots, we like them educated with their Airframe & Powerplant Certification to both fly and fix planes ‐ much cheaper doing your own maintenance. Overall, I love your videos! Very educational and learning a lot from your real-world experiences.

Well I profit 37% because thats what the numbers tell me. Gross/Milage driven= Rate Per Mile Rate Per Mile - Cost per Mile ($1.44)= .88 Cents Per Mile Profit .88 Cents of my Gross per mile = 37.94% Then your next question is probably thats a high rate per mile, Isn't it? Im guessing here and trying to explain to you so I can give you value. Thanks for checking out my channel too. Just fuel is at least .50 Per mile. If you're getting 8MPG and Fuel Costs are $4 Per Gallon. Truck and trailer Payment thats another .60 Cents. (which the trailer payment will eventually fall off ) Anyways thats not even getting into insurance and everything else and we are already at a $1.10. @@bartg7790yes he does. Also the pay per hour he averaged would be nice to see but he probably didn’t track that. And the hours you work will include all the calls you have to make to set up theses hauls, all the time you spend buying, fixing, using the computer, miscellaneous. No cheating on how much time is really spent. As a business owner I know what I do everyday that my subs don’t have to!

Hopefully truck and trailer payments, insurance, and maintenance costs are included in CPM.

Not from May 17th to December 22nd while averaging a 2 week work month. Thats Less half a year. Also in about a year I'll have a paid off 23' 550 and 22' Dimond C Step Deck. Ware house isn't the way for me. But some people out there have kids and cherish being home every night more than I do. I'm Sure it will be harder than it already is once kids come into the picture.

Once you start your MC number you have to start paying insurance. It sucks but when you first start you can't really sit on your equipment until it ages. unless you have the financial backing to do so. Also, Winter is tougher though just a heads up. But Ya you're on the right idea.

MC/DOT #, then insurance and BOC3, Then you're good. but I don't know if your CDL of not you may need iota and Apportion plates too.

No question is dumb. I dint even know what a rate con is when I started. But to answer your question. Ya I have everything in my cost per mile. that way it makes the math easy. tiers are .02 cents of my Cost per mile and I plan on doing a video on my cost per mile soon, Very soon.

1. I would hire a driver. It's already hard enough to make a decent profit and the money you will make isn't worth being on the phone with them all the time problem solving. But it is a good thought in theory. If I think I could make lots of money without putting my MC number at risk ( like my driver having an accident) I would put someone in my F-250 and big tex trailer. Also i have spoken to people that did hire on drivers that messed up their MC number and insurance rates and now they don't hire people on. 2. Yes you can find local runs but that depend hugely on where you live. I could easily make 200$ a day locally but im not working 5 days a week to make $1,000. Thats not going to get me too far. Just something to think about. 3. Now you're making me work, lol im kidding. Ya so you just go on the load board, which is an application on your phone and find postings that are by where you are currently with your truck and trailer. you can use the filter options to make this a quick search. If you fond a load in Alabama and you're in NY. That would be a no go for you. Put in the filters option on your load board, ( current location +250 Mile radius) That what I do. Lots to learn and questions to answer that why im building out my website that will be a tremendous help for people. Ya I mean if you're getting your bills paid thats the start. You obviously have your CDL. You have the desire to make more. And that is a recipe for success and forward movement in your life. And because you have put in the work and continue to maintain your Job I know you're a hustler. I'm rooting for you. With that being said. I have talked to some drivers and they tell me their pay per mile and also it being every mile. My next question naturally is, How many mile do you drive a week? Also more factors may play into a decision to hop ship like if you have kids and stuff like that. You know thanks for the question. So im actually seeing this question a lot. I honestly believe that there is a better education system than what we have know. Because in the school system the only thing we don't learn about is taxes; But then when we turn into adults it's suddenly the most important thing on earth. Don't you think the Adults would be teaching the students about taxes. Ok so before taxes I make 37% I choose to spend/ Reinvest every dollar back into the business which allows me to write off (meaning don't pay tax on the "income") these purchases as Business expenses. Tax deductible if you spend money on anything ordinary and necessary to run your business. With that being said my world revolves around my work so everything eventually trickles down to a business expense. I have more buying power this way so I choose to stay at operating as a business rather than living in a world where they can tax the hell out of my income. Let me know if im crazy Id Love you hear your thoughts on this.

No that’s the way I do all of my business that’s the best way to do it but still I will recommend you to paid yourself as a driver something insignificant at least.30 cents per mile also how many day out the month you usually run? Btw thank you for response

I have converted into hours before and it was like 30$ an hour..... but that was counting even the hours you are sleeping. because I count when im away from home im working

In my view looking at pay rate per hour doesn’t really work for trucking. This is an industry where you’re going to be away from home. The military is another example. The argument of I can get more per hour working at Lowes or McDonald’s doesn’t compare because you will never work enough hours to earn what you can make per week in trucking if you’re successful. The real question is can I have the quality of life I desire doing this job …

Not to mention all the nice stuff we have and get because we can wright it off, computers cameras trailers trucks drones chains tarps binders office supplies everything really

Too much risk and im not going to do people dirty and take 30% anything less then robbing people isn't worth it so I can see both sides. so I just choose to teach people how to start there own. It's actually cheaper believe it or not.

I run my fuel cost at about .50 cents a Mile. so if I drive 10,000 miles that's 5,000 Dollars. I say .50 cents because I figure 8 miles to the gallon at $4 a gallon. comes out to be .50 Cents

That 38% is the money I made before taxes. Since I choose to reinvest every single dollar then thats me spending money untaxed so I have more buying power. Reinvesting make the business stronger and then more money comes your way faster. IDK if im answering your question but pretty much that whole 38% is up to me to spend as I wish wether that be on personal things or business. hope I answered your question Tommy

Honestly I would even try. but to offer some light for the situation. I would look into freight brokering. go work for someone and learns the ropes. That could be a good avenue if you stick with it. you can make a good living after about a year.

It depends on the accidents, who was at fault, and how long ago.

Open an llc and then hire yourself w2 as a driver. Hire a attorney to clean up the wreck records.

The only thing that will prevent you from getting a CDL is if you fail any of the tests. However you probably will not be able to be insured irregardless of rate.

So I was able to pass my skills test . I found a company that will insure me . I only need to wait 3 months . They and go back 2 years and in 3 months I will not have any issues on my license. Hallelujah

Honestly the Sensor in the Brand New truck is a piece of SHI* im guessing 7-9 Depending if im loaded or not. Colorado is up there with lower oxygen so thats on the lower end for sure when im out there. I also round sadly when im figuring out how much I spent on fuel. I say 4$ even if I didn't spend over 3.80 a gallon all week long. o and my gears are 4-10. What ever the hell that means but I know it's like a middle grade between my f250 gearing and an f650.

My honest thoughts: I thought that it would appeal to more Semi drivers and make them consider starting out with their own MC#. I want to inspire people who may have forgot that starting your own business is still an option if you let your mind wonder down that road.

He said dead head is included. Meaning he's driving that truck only for work . When he's home I'm sure he don't go to 711 in his 550 . Make sense? It's still on the job miles your just not getting paid but it's still cost you fuel time insurance payments etc.

No but fore real I do 99% only use that for work and since I believe a mile is a mile that why dead head doesn't really matter to me. Obviously you want to not dead head any longer then you have to but if your out in Utah and the ONLY load is 300 Miles a way... Dead head distant matter.... just add the total number of DH miles to the loaded miles, Then divide that by the gross so it should look like ($/Miles) It will make life easier. If my Math is wrong then you arent thinking right. I dream about this stuff all day all night. I love running numbers. I Know that no matter how many people are like your numbers are wrong or you need to be making more.... I know the truth im im making money because business don't speak in any other language then Math. I have learned quickly when I was non cdl that I do the same job as a semi truck driver but they make more because they have bigger equipment. So I went as big as I could financially and I think having my set up is an advantage as my brother and I have proven when we compete against each other quite often. I should put out a video showing the actual difference in expenses for the ratio against the extra reward/money. Long story short bigger expenses bigger profits.

You have to remember I'll have may truck and trailer paid off by 200K Miles. So im projecting my truck will last about 350,000 miles, in between 200K miles and 350K Miles my Cost Per Mile will drop .60 Cents. So I'll be bringing in "if I drive 10K Miles a month" an extra 6K$ a Month on top of my profits I already make. O and My trailer will out last 3 trucks, I'm certain of it With minimal maintenance. Maybe I make the same as drivers now but I will pass them up. I also am building relationships and those are hard to put a price on. Just wanted to provide so more perspective. @@Babylionhotshot yea no I understand that I really want to start hotshoting this year I been driving big rigs for 3 years now but this video really discouraged me I have an 01 f250 7.3 paid off that I wanted to start with and the cash to buy my 40ft trailer out right but this year I did 115 as a driver and about 60 hours a week all year so seeing this idk if it would be worth it especially because when I check the load boards I don’t really see loads paying more then 2.39

I have talked to many people that got the Cheap CDL Course, mainly to get some feedback about how the school I sent them to treated them. And they thank me. Maybe I'll bring them on the Channel to share their experience. But it's really nice helping people out and I think I have found an area in trucking that few people are in.... and that genuinely helping people. I hope I can change your opinion about me in the future.

Shoot I think I need to change the price back down to $299 instead of $499. Because I had that as an expiration till the end of the year but I didn't get all of the courses done yet.
