I finally installed a Harbor Freight motorcycle hitch carrier on my 2016 Honda Pilot. Now I can put my Honda CRF250L on the back and drive it anywhere to ride. This isn't a "How to" video as much as it is a "How I did it". This checks off one of my 2022 Moto Goals. Enjoy.

wanting to get one for my dual sport but was oblivious to tongue weight requirements when I bought my 2016 2WD thinking I only want to take my moto that weighs 340lb wet surely the 3,500lb towing capacity is enough. thanks for the video. looks great!

Great useful one man project! Wow once you figure out the strapping the possibilities of where to ride is endless. Ok based on leave time and cost but what a new avenue to explore. Good job!

Wow! I actually have a Honda pilot am thinking about going this route to get my bike from Tennessee to Arizona while visiting my wife’s parents this summer. I have a diesel truck but can save a bunch of money in fuel if we use the pilot. Hitch looks great installed! Has it held up? Have you made any long trips? I am concerned I can bottom out the rear while pulling out of parking lots with incline. Have you had those issues? Good job and thanks for the video!

I’ve used it a couple times on long trips and it works great. It has held up really well so far. It does drag occasionally when pulling in and out of places with a steep incline, but not as often as I anticipated.

Hey man, are you still using this on your Pilot? I just recently purchased a used Pilot I got a good deal on, and bouncing back and forth between using a trailer and the hitch carrier. My plan is to haul a KTM 690 Enduro (roughly same weight as 250L) to hotels close to the end of the various BDRs, which will save me loads of painful highway miles on a motorcycle not really made for the task. Not using a trailer would be great, but I worry about damaging the unibody on the Pilot. With that said, the pilot has some fairly beefy connections to the hitch. Has your setup help up to extended usage? Would you trust to traverse multiple states? Thanks.

I still have the Pilot and have used this hitch carrier many times without any problems. I have used it with my CRF250L and a Yamaha Zuma Scooter to travel over 600 miles and back without any issues.

@@arideinthecountry Well that pretty much settles it then. I was asking around on the Piloteers forum, but most thought it was a bad idea. I was more or less on the fence and just needed someone with some real-world experience with this particular application. Greatly appreciate your response!

My Pilot is a 2016 and has 142,000 miles. I have had no issues with the use of the hitch mounted carrier. The weight of my bike is well below the tongue weight specification limit.

I really love this. It’s time for me to trade in my truck and I was wondering if I needed to get another truck or not. This opens up the possibility of getting a different kind of car! How big of a bike can it hold?

It can hold up to 400 Lbs. My bike is just a little over 300 so I’m good.

Did the bike carrier work for the crf or was it too heavy?

Works great. Been using it for 2 years now. No issues.

You manage to keep the bike from slamming into your back window?

So far so good! It has bumped the window when I’m loading it but no damage to the car or the bike

Get a small impact gun. Pb blaster a few days straight first. 12v actually works better has less power. Actuallly your way was better.😊😊
