Finally! New saw, first cut. Seems to be compact, quiet, lightweight, with good dust collection and a clean cut on both sides of a janky old piece of conti-board I’ve had knocking around forever. Must remember to not pull the workpiece back through the blade though! 🤦‍♂️

More to come on this. 👍

Despite the cost, these machines are selling well with the stand. A cabinet maker asked me if they have electronic adjustment on the rip fence. I found out its only the blade which has the .1 mm height adjustment.The price in Western Australia is $2,600 without batteries charger or stand. I got batteries and charger so perhaps one day I will take the plunge and buy this tool.

Living in Tokyo Japan I can certainly see a place for this tool on the job-site, but at well over $2000 in the states, it’s going to be double that here in Japan, in fact I don’t even see it for sale here in Japan. Certainly a niche tool, but for those in that niche I’m sure it will be great.
@bestyoutubernonegraternumber1
Uh, it is 1500 in the states. For 2k, you get the workstation and the batteries with it, too… It is not a niche tool. It is a tool for people with track saws who basically shun table saws anyway. It is a convenient way to do rips. It is better than any saw in the price range & you cannot touch a saw of this quality this cheap anywhere else. Anything cheaper is big, LOUD, framer/construction saws & they are junk.

Tokyo Craftsman, My friend will move to Philipines from Australia. I know what you are talking about. I was told Milwaukee tools are twice as expensive in Philippines as that of Australia. I imagine Japan has similar with inflated prices opposed to UK and USA. In fact I think USA are cheaper in comparison to Australia. In Australia this tool is available I think with batteries $2,500 Aud. I will need to confirm.

@@ron1martens Milwaukee is now in Japan, but aside from a drill or impact driver, they are not bringing in any woodworking specific tools yet. I went to buy the M18 drill/hammer drill and Milwaukee Japan was still selling the gen three drill, the 2903-20. I bought the new gen four 2904-22 off of eBay for about half the price, shipped, for what Milwaukee Japan wanted for the gen three. I still have to buy my batteries from MJ, but that’s OK, at least I get a warranty on the batteries. It’s like some of these companies don’t think that the average consumer know how to use Google Translate on the web LOL
@ron1martens

@@TokyoCraftsman On a bigger picture and from speaking world wide to people in different Countries. Markets are manipulated specifically for each Country. I believe this is done by design. I may wonder a bit off subject here although it does also concern manufacture and distribution of power tools such as festool and other platforms. Government made regulations stating batteries over 100 watt hour had to be individually packaged. Batteries with higher amp hour were then a lot more expensive. Tool manufactures such as hikoki then made batteries multivolt 2.5 5. Being slightly under 100 watt hour. Metabo made the high density 5.5. Online sellers such as ebay tended to make a lot of money after covert. It was June of 2019 Australian Government made it taxable anything under $1,000 online sale. Before that time purchases under $1,000 was tax exempt.Anyway, besides been hoodwinked by the big shots, lets enjoy our lives and the tools we use. I wish to eventually purchase this machine as it seems to be the best on the market at this time.

For folks talking about how “expensive” this saw is, the question really is “relative to what?” I paid $4500 for a zero-turn mower 20 yrs ago. A decent side-by side runs $20K (I don’t own one). Folks routinely spend $60K for pickups - same guy may have a $2000 Binelli shotgun. What does a week at the beach cost you? My point is, a lot of people *have* money to spend, and do, so why shouldn’t they spend it on a $2K saw? People routinely spend that much for a shop TS - why wouldn’t you spend that much when your “shop” is a job site?

The intention was to make it with a cord (it's been in development for 5/6 years now.) But they decided, with this generation of batteries that battery powered was more convienent. I asked our festool representative about it and he came with that awnser. It's also impossible to make a battery adapter kind of thing ( like the 18V sanding machines ) that you can use it with a plug-it cable. This is because of the high usage of Amps. they can get from batteries and not from normal powersockets.

It’s a trim saw aimed at kitchen installers and fitted furniture guys, who don’t generally need large capacity. It uses a standard Festool blade - same as the current TS60 tracksaw. Dado stacks aren’t illegal in the UK/EU but there’s no way to actually use them commercially and comply with health and safety regulations, so very few saws sold in the UK/EU have an arbor long enough to take dado stacks, and this saw is no exception.
