Zach Johnson, the “Millennial Farmer” is a 5th-generation farmer who’s spent his life growing, working, and learning on his family’s farm. His wit and dry sense of humor appeal to children and adults alike. A product of the millennial generation, his appreciation of new technology blends with his old-fashioned work ethic, and he offers a unique ability to deliver his message in a way that resonates with lifelong farmers as well as those with no knowledge of agriculture.
With growing consumer awareness about where their food comes from, Zach has identified the need for an independent voice from the front lines of agriculture. Zach actively promotes agriculture by sharing his day-to-day experiences in the agriculture world while providing farmer-to-farmer education to help facilitate a collaborative conversation between farmers and the public.

Thanks for the first planter video of the season. Ya!!!!! Well, you got the planter going after a lot of adjusting and doing this and that. Sounds like your planter took a harder hit than thought in the storm. But, you got the bugs worked out and it is going now the way it sounds/ya!!!!! Appreciate your patience with the planter. Do understand you want it to just go but technology get in the way. Good job with getting it going correctly. Should be ready to go now. Will be anxious to hear on next video how it went. If it is working ok have it going round the clock until done. Got to be a good feeling to finally be planting after all the problems. Amazing that the dogs will ride in the four by four and nothing else. Interesting. Guess I will leave you alone now, you have enough to do without me talking. My compliments to you on all of this. You got it going. Sincerely appreciate you keeping us all on the video. Know with all of the problems would be simple to forget filming. So do appreciate you keeping us in the loop. You all take care and be safe. Looking forward to the next video. Thanks to Becky for editing. Thanks for everything Zach and Dad. The Iowa farm boy. Steve.

My #1 Rule when troubleshooting stuff is "Is it plugged in?" I don't know what sort and how many connectors those planters have, but with all the vibration and heat cycles those things go through, it might be worth unplugging and replugging all the connectors in the spring.

@ronchappel4812
@ronchappel4812 2 года назад
I'm curious about that too. As i understand it, corn can mature too early and thus you've lost yield potential. Or it can mature too late, and you waste money drying it. Obviously he's trying to aim for some point between those. That said i don't know how much wiggle room there is, and that's kind of what you're asking,right?
@Roy-gi1lu
@Roy-gi1lu 2 года назад
He’ll do approximately 120 acres on a 50 unit can of seed. Depends on population though. Going from 99 to 94 day corn could make for 2-3% drier corn, and be the difference between quality mature grain, and poor quality corn. The cost of that 2-3% varies based on a lot of things, like if you are drying the grain yourself or paying the grain buyer to do it. Paying the grain buyer to dry an extra 3% can eat up all of your profit on a year when margins are tight.
@kencotton4645
