◦Find out what your aesthetic/style is by following my 8-step method, in which we discuss the details and necessary tools to knowing who you really want to be (in terms of fashion, lifestyle, etc). This is a general video about how to find your aesthetic, but it's only the beginning of the journey! I'm first giving a little explanation on some basic things to take into account when you start your journey (or maybe even your transition into another aesthetic), and then diving deep into really finding out what you like, dislike, what you need to get started, and what aesthetic that may be.

I really love how you put an emphasis on self-love, it is very important and I believe that these reminders are always needed. 😊 My mom always tells me to not wear straight-legged jeans because it's not pretty and I looked very good in skinny jeans, but straight-legged jeans are much more comfortable for me, so I need to defend myself as well. She also thinks that academia is very old lady-like, but I will still wear it, because I like it, and I don't see it old lady-like at all. 😅 I think these things depend on our perception, fashion is very subjective. Also, a very helpful video, thank you ❤️ It is very useful to know that there are different basics for different aesthetics. It was kind of obvious, but I just processed it now. 😹

Aww, thank you, I'm glad you found this video helpful! I try to remind people to love themselves, because in the world of fashion, it's so easy to start hating yourself/your style/your body, especially with how the media portrays "attractive" people. I don't want anyone to think they're not "good enough" for a certain style (I definitely have felt that way!) or that they can't pull it off. I feel you on the "defending myself" part...I've definitely had to tell some family members that leggings aren't "too revealing", and they don't have to worry about it since they're not wearing it👏 And yessss I used to be called a "grandma" for my preference for academia clothing too haha~My mom didn't mind it, because it meant that I often looked put-together, but I've had some people have the audacity to call me a grandma haha. It's not our fault that their era of fashion was so beautiful and timeless!😍

I think there should be another step between "what you don't like" and "what you do like", and that is "what you like to see on others, but it's just not you". For example, I love goth and witchcore on other people, but when I think of trying outfits like that myself, my brain immediately goes nope! My actual aesthetic that I feel comfortable in and represents me well is the exact opposite. Why do I like the clothes I have in my wardrobe at the moment? Because almost all of them are in very bright strong cold colors. I own only three black tops and no browns or neutrals whatsoever. I'm excited because I found my aesthetic, finally. It's a combination of indie and soft girl. I saw a couple of indie kid pieces that I most likely won't resist buying, and they feel so right for me! I can also make some of my own, as I am an avid knitter and crocheter. Now I have an explanation for why I can't resist integrating beads of a contrasting color into everything I knit, as usually if they add beads, knitters use beads of the same color as the yarn.

Oh yeah, that's a great way to know what you want for yourself vs what looks good on others (or even what's trendy). And ah I envy you, I wish I could knit/crochet, I love knitted cardigans and sweaters! 💜

Aww thank you!💜 both of our cats wore their collars on the first 2 months at home so they wouldn't get lost (there was a bell attached to their kitten collar so we could hear them). Paws got lost for TWO HOURS as a kitten once and it turns out he snuck under a drawer and couldn't get out. And because he's quiet, we could barely hear his meows. So after that he had to wear a collar until he couldn't fit into the most absurd spaces haha. These days the kitties also have little "scarf" accessories I've made them and they wear them pretty proudly. 💙

Hi again, Thank you for answering my last question and for directing me to this video. I was just curious: what if you come up with an aesthetic and want to share it with other people? How would one do that? Because, about a month ago I got this idea to mix like Greek aesthetics with Goth and also some Medusa themed imagery, and I think it could be pretty cool but I have no idea how to put it out there. Thanks 😊

Oh that sounds like a great mix! Pinterest and instagram are great ways to start, and if you wanted to dedicate to it, you could also share it on a platform like Tiktok. I find most of my images for my aesthetic videos on Pinterest, and it's a great place to collect images without making a photo collage yourself. I'm mostly commenting for support because I know how important engagement is for yt's algorithm. But I wanted to add that I'm glad you talked about self-love. I struggle with that quite a bit, to the point where I just wear holey clothes and refuse to do anything about it because I already feel like garbage. It's something that I struggle with on top of generally not fitting into anything the stores sell. I can't even buy hats or wigs because my head is too big--they just don't fit. I've been planning to make my own stuff for some time now, I just need to go an do it--getting supplies has been hard though, with the pandemic. @__@; Also, I love your cats. I have a little black purrtato myself.

Thank you so much for commenting! The algorithm hasn't really liked me these past couple months so it's been harder to get my videos shown to others. 😩 And I know how you feel, I am on a healing journey myself, which is why I want to emphasize self-love, since our lives usually are constantly saturated with self-hatred. And haha, I have the opposite problem, I can't wear anything except beanies because my head is too small for all hats. I'd definitely try out making your own clothes if you feel like that's a good choice for you! I want to buy a sewing machine and learn to make my clothes (I can barely knit though haha), but it'll have to wait till I have a big enough place to do so. Meanwhile, thrifting is definitely a great alternative. I found 90% of my academia clothes in thrift stores. I don't really buy into most fast fashion trends so it's harder to find things just for my style. You got this though! And yes, I love my kitties, Cool (the black kitten) is currently meowing for attention 💞
