‘Head Honcho’ is American lingo for a person in charge, and while they probably got it from the Japanese, it still makes sense for it to be used on an American character.

not sure if anyones mentioned this, but both the Condor Cap and Screamin' Eagle referencing the 101st Airborne is important because they were one of the paratropper divisions involved in Operation Market Garden.

The doe-boy's name is also in reference to American soldiers during World War 1 who were called doughboys and wore the British brodie helmet which is what the helmet in bioshock was modeled after.

The head Honcho's headcap being called "Honcho" is most likely because General MacArthur actually "ruled" over japan after WWII, or maybe because of some Large Guy or whatever they told me in history class

The refeence to Pirattes of Carrabean (conquistador) is named after unnamed pirate from Singapore who was on the ship. Author of this hat was probably big history buff like me because I saw this hat too and I remembered it untill now.

The holy hand grenade is also a reference to Monty Python and the Holy Grail.

I hope that this category of videos won’t be the only thing that makes this channel relevant.

The Armored Authority could also be a reference to General Patton and his appearence on the homonymous movie about him, where Patton is seen with the 3 star helmet

Thanks for including my comment at 1:42! It means a lot to me. As I stated in that comment, the traffic cone hat for pyro is also a Plants vs Zombies reference. Also, the brigade helm could be a reference to Ray Bradbury's book Fahrenheit 451, where Firemen, instead of putting out fires, burn books along with the houses that store them.

Now that, was one hell of a campaign son. For this video was as always very well written and gave me a lot of information into something’s that I didn’t know about solider. The Necronomicrown is a hat based of the series Ash Vs the evil dead particularly in the third film where evil dead ash dawns the hat on the assault in the castle scene.

for pyro (if you are doing them next): Wondering Wraith (yes it is a hat, it covers the "top of the head" region, so you cannot wear it with other hats), anyway, the Wondering Wraith is a reference to an enemy from a game series called "Doom", the enemy who's design was taken as an inspiration for the cosmetic are the "Lost souls". If you check the workshop page for the item, you can see on the banner image that Wondering Wraith looks like a lost soul, being separated from pyro's body in the background. As well as the item description being a reference to how they were described in the Doom Manual. I have interviewed the creator, and they have confirmed that yes, It is a reference to the Lost Souls. For the Pyro video, the "Dead Cone" cosmetic is a promotional item that references Plants VS Zombies. It mimics the look of the Conehead Zombies from that game.

at 2:50 it's actually modeled after a US military fatigue cap, the German caps were much different in many ways

While the Grenadier's Softcap isn't a ww2 German field cap (it's just a generic American army cap), the medic actually has his own genuine ww2 German fieldcap called the "Medic's Mountain Cap". He also has the "Combat Medic's Crusher Cap" which is a ww2 German Officer's Crusher Cap which were just soft versions of the rigid officer's hat you often see on TV Really good video overall, can't wait for the other classes :))))

The Doe Boy is a reference to US WWI Helmets, on top of the Bioshock reference. In 1917, when the US joined, the US Armed Forces expanded rapidly, and long story short, we ended up using the British WWI helmet as a stop-gap measure initially, and then full-time later on. Also, with the Cloud Crasher, the Ace of Spades wasn't only a sign of good luck. The 101st Airborne, which the 506th PIR was a part of, used insignia on it's helmets to help identify regiment, battalion, and job. In this case the helmet signifies the wearer is part of the 2nd Battalion, 506th PIR, identified by the little vertical line underneath the Ace of Spades. Which itself could be a reference to the TV Miniseries Band of Brothers which was about Easy Company, 2nd Battalion, 506th PIR, 101st Airborne. The Armored Authority is undoubtedly a reference to Lt. General George S. Patton, a corps-level commander that specialized in Armored Warfare in WWII. He is commonly represented as having worn that black helmet. Another interesting thing about him is the belief that German generals saw him as the best American (or Allied, depending on who you ask) Corps-level commander. Even though the archives suggest if you asked any German general who he was, you would more than likely get a response of "Who?". As for the Defiant Spartan. You state that the Romans wore the Corinthian Style helmet. This is partly true, but by the time of the Early Republic, it had fallen out of favor alongside the Roman abandonment of Phalanx warfare. Corinth, in ancient Greece at least, was anything but a "small city". Being the home of Aphrodite, the goddess of love and lust, has its perks. I suspect that the Honcho's Headcap isn't just a reference to Douglas MacArthur, since the shape of the cap is highly reminiscent of Japanese Army officer headware, hence the "Honcho" part of the name. Also, for the Stahlhelm, lit. steel helmet, it is technically a WWI model, rather than the WWII model that would have been accurate to the battle of Stalingrad. This is evidenced by the big studs near to the where the temple would be on your forhead, as that is where extra armor would be attached by troops maning static emplacements in the trenches. That feature was removed by the time of WWII, to cut down on costs.

The Cadaver's Capper is likely another fighting game reference. This character has a different name in japan but they go by "Hsien Ko". A character who wears a very similar hat with a talisman. She is also laterally the monster the hat references.

Foster’s Façade is a PROMOTIONAL ITEM for Pyro that is a direct reference to the gas mask worn by the character Mr. Foster in the Killing Floor games.

Minor thing about the Doe-boy. The hat itself is similar to a WW1 helmet worn by both British and American soldiers. American soldiers in WW1 were nicknamed “Doughboys”.

Also, this makes me realize Soldier needs a War of 1812 hat.

Well, Conquistador is definetly from fourth movie On Stranger Tides, since its the most recent, and fourth is based the most around Spanish elements, Ponce de Leon and overall Conquistador thematic. First one also had some spanish elements, but i dont remember anyone wearing it. I think someone even drank water from that hat in forth movie, but im not sure. Or its either from last scene at Fountain, so im also happy to find out to which character it belongs.

would the Packable Provisions for Engineer count as a reference? the backpack is a reference to Uncle Dane's weapon idea for Engineer where the engineer would replace the pistol for a backpack that could heal and give metal over time, like a dispenser on the engie's back. it wasn't added as a weapon, but became a cosmetic instead.

The armoured authority is actually designed after General George S. Patton's helmet. Also you should take the time on jump maps to learn rocket jumping, you are frequently overshooting your jumps and you aren't airstrafing.

The Beast from Below is a Cthulhu reference. I *think* the Rugged Respirator is a callout to some kind of post-apoc setting? Oh, and the Raven's Visage is probably mentioning *something* but I have no clue what. (All of these are Halloween hats, so they might be entirely irrelevant.)
