This one was cut a little shorter than I would have liked, but I still found several shells that made the trip worthwhile (honestly, any visit to the beach is worthwhile in my opinion)! I still can't get over that teeny tiny little freak dwarf cowrie - how absolutely unique!
Let me know which ones were your favourites ;D and if you enjoyed this and want to see more shell finding videos, I'd appreciate a like or a comment. I read all of them and try to reply when I can. You have no idea how much of a smile you guys put on my face. Thanks everyone!

I didn't even realise that Point Cartwright and the surrounding beaches had such lovely seashells until I saw "Shellcade Shelling Down Under" - I admire him a lot; he's a wonderful local shell! You can check out his amazing shelling videos here:

I like when you focus down on the massive shell pile. You give us a moment just to focus on the shells. I love the teeny little sand dollars. 🐕🥰🇺🇸

G’day Guadalupe 👋🏻🐚 I’ve been trying to remember to show the shell pile; I often times focus on showing shell finds rather than letting everyone else have a look as well… I’m glad you enjoyed it, it’s definitely something I’ll need do more with shell piles like this one 👍🏻 Hehe, the sanddollars are cute, but I’d love to find some big ones someday 🤩 Thank you so much for watching 🥰

Good morning Oceanluvn Gal 👋🏻 Fair enough, all the shells are just so different 🤩 I often only pick one or two favourites, but there is usually probably 5 or 6 favourites in my heart 🤣 Thank you so much for watching ❤️

I love that orange limpet, and that black and white sundial. Thanks for sharing!

G’day Erin 👋🏻 Oh, those are great picks for the favourites; I was surprised by both of them! The sundial was really big for what I’d usually find, and the orange limpet didn’t turn white when it dried 🤗 very nice shell indeed! Thank you so much for watching 🥰

Good morning Maddie, the limpets, small sanddollars, the sundial and all the rest are beautiful. Thank you for another beautiful shelling day. I hope you did not get to wet from the rain. Have a great day

G’day Toni 👋🏻💖 I’ve had a really big focus on the mini shells lately, I hope you don’t mind the little ones. The limpets, sanddollars, and sundials have been so nice lately, though! Hahaha, I got soaked to the bone, even my undies 🩲 weren’t spared a drenching 🤣 But it was okay, the rain wasn’t cold and there wasn’t really any wind. Today was a much nicer day… pretty hot, though! Thank you for joining me on this shorter adventure today 🥰

The minis are beautiful as well. I am just amazed at all the lines, colors, shapes and learning the names and remembering them. Thank you very much Maddie.

Oh wow, you might even learn their names better than me! Feel free to correct me if I get something wrong, it happens more often than you thing 🤣🤣🤣 Thank you Toni 💖

That freak cowrie was really cool. I hate you missed the shuttle shell. 😭😭😭 You be careful out in the surf! 🌊 Poor little ring top being stuck in that hole. I’m glad you saved it. Loved the zebra top snail and the limpets! Enjoyed your video, keep up the good work! 🥰🥰🥰

G’day Pam 👋🏻💖 Hehe, that little freak cowrie made another avid sheller a bit jealous when I showed him 🤣 it’s a really, really unusual shell; probably not just a freak but also an unusually small dwarf of the species. It certainly isn’t as shiny and beautiful as the other shells though, I’m also a bit frustrated that I missed that shuttle 🥲 I reckon I might have found it if the rain didn’t hit 🤣 I’ll have another chance to find it today though, so wish me luck! About that ringtop, I wasn’t sure if it could goop back up the sides, but anyway, I put him in a protected rocky place 🐌 Thank you for enjoying the video, I wasn’t sure how it would come out… there was just a lot of continuous technical issues all day between both of my filming devices. I’m up for a new, rugged, somewhat waterproof phone now 😅 it should arrive in a few days (I needed it before my trip to the capitol)… maybe I can do some underwater filming with it if I’m brave enough? Anyhoo, I’m rambling. Thank you, as always, for joining the adventures 🥰

G’day Florida Fam 👋🏻💖 That’s a great pick for the favourite; that sundial is definitely the nicest I’ve ever found 🤩 I’m looking forward to seeing your next shell day too 👀 Thank you so much for watching my soggy adventure today 🥰

G’day Reet 👋🏻🐚 The limpets we’re really nice today, right?! That orange one in particular caught my eye the most 😉 Ahhh, that spindle was soooo obvious to me in the video… I can’t believe I didn’t see it on the day 😅 Maybe I’ll find it waiting for me when I go shelling later today? Thank you so much for watching 💖

Good morning Maddie, love all the cowers today. On one of the scallop with the white spots looks like it might have had some bonacols on it and then come of. Can't wait to see the next video and have a great day. The shells I was telling you about that I have for you are at least 20 years old. I move from the coast around that time
@SandCoffeeRocks
@SandCoffeeRocks Год назад
Good morning Kayle 👋🏻❤️ I’m so pleased you enjoyed the shells…I felt like I had to leave just as I was starting to find the good stuff 🤣 I think you’re right; the white most likely is barnacles that had grown and dropped off the scallop. Kinda weird, those barnacles usually stick on really well! Oh my goodness, those shells are definitely vintage now! I’ll definitely talk more about this with you in the future, thank you again 💖 I hope you have a lovely rest of your day as well. I’ll be off to the beach soon… wish me luck at the beach today 😉 Thank you so much for watching! 🥰

G'day Nelly 👋🏻💖 Ohhh really! Wow, do you find many Granulated Frog Shells?? I hardly ever see intact ones, and they are usually taken quickly by the hermit crabs 🦀😅 so I don't get to show them often in a video. I think I've only ever found two intact and unoccupied Granulated Frog Shells in two years of searching! I'm glad that I could finally give you a name for the shells you find 😉 Thanks for watching 🥰

Wow the freak cowrie is amazing!! It is called a rostrated form and is ultra rare, with most coming from New Caledonia and northern Queensland
@SandCoffeeRocks
@SandCoffeeRocks 10 месяцев назад
G’day Yao 👋🏻🏖 It’s a really cool freak, right?!! I knew it was pretty rare when I found it, but I didn’t fully understand how much at the time. A friend that was there with me on the day also me that it was rostrated; I hadn’t heard the term before that. What’s also cool about this freak cowrie (a Naria labrolineata) is that it’s about a quarter of the size of a typical one, so it’s an ultra small dwarf too! Add on the freakish double set of teeth on the bottom (shown better at the end display of the video) and it’s just super special; probably my most unique and rarer find to date 🤩 It’s nice to see find someone who appreciates it, I think it might have been overlooked by a lot of people this time because it’s appearance wasn’t as visually stunning as the regular shell finds. It takes a knowledgeable and discerning eye to see this one’s real beauty. I’m gushing, sorry, you caught me in a nerd-out moment 🤣 Also, I had no idea that most freaks came from New Caledonia and North Queensland, I wonder what makes those so special? Probably the GBR for up north 🤔 anyhoo! Thank you so much for watching 🐚❤️

Good Morning Maddie, My favorite Common Limpet and Scaly Scallop. I hope you did not get soaked but the rain would possibly be warm. Have a good day Maddie til next time. XXOO. TRUDY
@SandCoffeeRocks
@SandCoffeeRocks Год назад
Good morning Trudy 👋🏻💖 The common limpet was a cool one; it really kept its orange colour after it dried! Oh, and also the little scaly scallop? It’s colours were really lovely as well 🤩 Haha, ahhh I got completely soaked to the bone, the rain was relentlessly heavy and there wasn’t much cover. But, being in the middle of summer, the rain wasn’t cold, so luckily I wasn’t too uncomfortable 😅 I hope you have a lovely day too, thanks for watching, Trudy 🥰

Thanks for your amazing shell combing. I love all your videos. Where do find your shell identity info from?
@SandCoffeeRocks
@SandCoffeeRocks Год назад
G’day Rachel 👋🏻 You are very welcome 🙏 I mostly just love shelling for myself, it’s so much fun- and even better when I actually have someone to share it with 🤣 For my shell IDs, I use a few places; first is usually the website: www.seqshells.com/seqgastropods.php -just because it’s so accessible and specifically made for this area of Australia. The website is FAR from comprehensive, so second is a shell book titled; A Field Guide to Australian Shells: Prosobranch Gastropods. Third, if those two fail me, I try to look on Conchology: www.conchology.be/?t=261 but it’s hard to use when you don’t actually know the family name of the species you’re looking for. Finally, I could just post a picture on Instagram, and I sometimes get the answer from there - people are really nice and helpful in the shelling community! Phew, I think that’s about it 🤣 Thank you so much for watching 🥰

Such cool finds as always. Shame on that shuttle shell. There was also what look like a Humphrey cowrie teeth next to the bucket when you dropped the frog shell. Did you see it?
@SandCoffeeRocks
@SandCoffeeRocks Год назад
G'day Isabel! Yeah, I can only blame myself for being so unobservant XD Oh nice catch!!- I see the Humphrey's teeth you mean and yes, I did pick that one up! It ended up being a "deleted scene" because the cowrie's condition wasn't too good and I had already found a much nicer one to show this time around. Oh, this is embarrassing... I usually put most of my deleted scenes together for a short bonus video on my Facebook page, but I haven't done it yet :P I'm a bit behind with time because I'm hitting the beach all week to stock up on fun content while the tides are good. I'll be putting it up that deleted scene with a few others ones in probably a day or two if you want to follow along over there?: facebook.com/SandCoffeeRocks Thank you so much for watching

Ahh, you’re Belix ❤️ Thank you so much for already following me over there, I’m sorry that I didn’t put two and two together 🙃 I remember that one in the rock, ahhh, I never really found that rock to look at again… the cowrie is probably still there 🤣 Thank you once again for all the support, I’ll be putting the outtakes reel on FB later today (when I get my butt in gear ⚙️) so keep an eye out for it. I must say, you’re quite good at spotting those Humphrey’s cowries!

Hehe, I really do! They are pretty common here; at least the 4 or 5 different species that I can think of. And the variation between them is pretty spectacular! I’m quite lucky, I really should pick up more of the, for everyone to see 🤩
