Suddenly: blue skies!! The weather has been alternating between rainy and beautiful, no one can make heads or tails of it. The shells don't seem to mind; they'll wash up anytime! I really grabbed a bit of everything today, and I really surprised myself with the amount of nice limpets that I collected. My favorites were the yellow Chameleon Nerite, Kiener's Cowrie, and Textile Cone, what cuties!
Let me know which ones were your favourites ;D and if you enjoyed this and want to see more shell finding videos, I'd appreciate a like or a comment. I read all of them and try to reply when I can. You have no idea how much of a smile you guys put on my face. Thanks everyone!

G'day everyone! Wow, you're actually reading the description? Um, thank you! You will be rewarded with extra content... my Facebook page (link above) is loaded with out-takes and deleted scenes that don't make it into the RU-vid videos. Check out the extra funsies over there if you're desperate for more shelling content ;D

I didn't even realise that Point Cartwright and the surrounding beaches had such lovely seashells until I saw "Shellcade Shelling Down Under" - I admired him a lot, and you can check out his videos here:

G'day Green Thumb Gardener 👋🏻☘️❤️ Hehe, that Donkey is getting a lot of love today 🦓 I'm glad that you like it as well, it really is an amazing type of shell. The Bonnet and Captain Cones were nice too, but yes, the Donkey does come out on top! Thanks for watching 🥰

I absolutely loved the variety of limpets today! 🗻🗻🗻 Of course as always, all the shells 🐚🐚🐚 were beautiful. The bonnet, the drupe, and the textile cone stood out today, but there is one particular shell that I love love love. ❤️❤️❤️ The gyre triton. They are just so pretty to me! My other favorite this time was the kieners cowrie. What unusual markings! Happy you didn’t lose your container of shells!!! That would not have been good. 😵‍💫😭😂 Great adventure Maddie! 🥰🥰🥰

G'day Pam 👋🏻💖 I really packed a lot of limpets into this trip; I have no idea what happened, but I kept picking them up! So the Drupe, Bonnet, and adorable Textile Cone stood out to you - they are such wonderful shells! Oh wow, and the Gyre Triton was the main favourite in the end 🐚 it's a little shell, but it has really nicely defined textures that give it an air of elegance. Oh Pam, I think you're the first person to mention the Kierner's Cowrie this time (maybe because it has such an odd name) it's rarer than a donkey and much harder to come across; I adore it! I'm so glad it got a mention somewhere in the comments 😁 Thanks for watching 🥰

G'day Line 👋🏻🏖️ Nerites really catch my eyes, I don't know why!! Oh goodness, I hope it's warming up after such a long winter for you - going for a cruise in the kayak sounds like a lot of fun! Theoretically, I'd love to adventure through the mangroves in a kayak and look for land snails, but practically: I wouldn't know where to look, and I think I'm not very good at using a kayak 🤣!! I hope you find some goodies for yourself out there! Thanks for watching 🥰

The Donkey is the crowd favourite this time, but wow, I'm glad to see that you also liked the Humphrey's Cowrie too. Of course, the Captain Cone, Drupe, and Ram's Horn all deserve the favourite spots as well 😉 Thank you so much for watching 🥰

You're close: it's a Bush Turkey! Also called a Scrub Turkey 🦃 they're a very common bird around this part of the Queensland...they're protected too, which is good because they're considered a bit of a nuisance 😅 harmless, but a nuisance for the landscaping everywhere. Also, they're probably delicious but no one knows anymore 😲 because they're protected. These Bush Turkeys always try to peck at my shells 🤣

@@SandCoffeeRocks G'day Maddie 😊👋 Yes, yes, Maddie! So I’m saying that in your videos people can see them👍👍👍And if a person doesn’t know, he’ll think it’s an olive 🐚 or something like that😁 I had a strange shell lying around for a long time, I wondered for a long time what it was👀, in the end, an experienced collector at an age suggested that it was most likely a juvenile shell of one of the Strombus. Then I looked and it’s really very similar😊

Would you ever sell the cowries you find I live further down the nsw coast and most cowries aren't accessible here
@SandCoffeeRocks
@SandCoffeeRocks 4 месяца назад
G'day Maiden 👋🏻🐚 Wow, hello to you down in NSW!! You are correct; a lot of cowries don't like the colder non-tropical waters of southern NSW, you'd probably need to start looking north if Coff's Harbour yo start finding them. There are a lot of places with lovely cowries in northern NSW if you find yourself up there! As for selling shells, I don't do that for various reasons, however, would you like me to recommend some reputable sellers to you? They are Australian based, though part or a lot of their stock probably comes from overseas in places that eat these snail and would discard the shells. Let me know if you'd like the store names, but alas, I will personally leave selling shells to the professions 😅 Thanks for watching 🥰

Sure thing! Here we go: I would like to mention two sellers that I generally think of as cheap and/or good value (I usually recommend these two for their ability to ship internationally, too), but also remember that you can sometimes find people selling shells on Facebook Marketplace too, but that's going to be cash and door to door pick up only. First is Naturally Wild: natwild.com.au/collections/seashells-natural I have been meaning to do a buy and rate video for this store... I don't actually know the quality of the shells, but I've only heard good things so far. Plus, I met the owner at the Brisbane Shell Show (he had a store there) and the shells looked good - he is also the biggest supplier of goods to museum gifts stores within Australia. The prices are very cheap; I believe he buys them wholesale from outside of Australia in those countries that eat the snails and discard the shells. Someone must have a deal to vendor the shells to people like Naturally Wild. Also, the owner at the shell show said that you can message them and ask for a specific shell if you don't see it, but remember that some species can become very expensive very quickly. Second (and last) is She Sells Shells: www.she-sells-shells.com.au/ She also has an eBay store that you can look for, but prices on her website are a little better, but I think the stock is sometimes a little different between the website and the eBay, so I will link both: www.ebay.com.au/str/shesellsshellscaloundra The prices are more in line with what I typically think they should be while still being affordable for what they are, and the best part about this store is that you're getting the EXACT shell pictured in the photo, not just a generic shop photo like on Naturally Wild. Less guesswork, but you pay a little more for it. Also, the store restocks quite slowly because of the time needed to photograph the shells (the owner mentioned this recently on her Instagram). I will also mention that you can buy many shells from eBay too, though the postage can become quite large, especially if you buy from overseas. Hopefully this will give you something to look at! Also, if there are any souvenir stores around you, then you might be surprised that some could stock shells! Anyhoo, good luck!!

Also, I don't know about the legalities of collecting and selling shells in the Philippines, so be sure to look into that first: some countries allow it, some only allow with a permit, and some ban it all together. Be sure you know what your laws are for the places around you ;)

@SandCoffeeRocks
@SandCoffeeRocks 4 месяца назад
Hello Frax 👋🏻🐚 Wow, you're from the Philippines! For your question, I don't sell any shells: I only collect and show them to be entertaining on RU-vid. If you do want to sell shells, then you might consider connecting with people via websites like eBay and Etsy. Keep in mind that many buyers will be from overseas, so you need to make sure the shells are ok to pass through any kind of customs screening, such as making sure the shells are clean and without any creatures inside. I don't know much about selling shells, but you could also turn them into crafts and try selling them at the local markets as well. Best of luck 🤞🏻
