When I started collecting hockey cards, the triangle penguins logo and the blues jerseys with red diagonal stripes were all I knew so I considered these looks to be the norm 🤣

RARE NHL JERSEY! During the 1977-78 season, NHL players were required to wear their surnames for the first time on their jerseys. But stubborn Leafs owner Harold Ballard refused, claiming that it would cause a decrease in Leafs program sales at Maple Leaf Gardens. Therefore in order to comply he had BLUE letters stitched onto BLUE away jerseys, making the names unreadable. The following year however, Ballard complied to the new surname rule ( or else face a heavy fine $$ ). Those blue letter jerseys must still be out there and therefore quite rare and valuable.

I think it would’ve been a better direction to take for a rebrand (Although I think I would replace the badge with the A-Paw logo they used - that or use the Paw as a template for their Alt/Captain badges

I was interested to see your Detroit pick! That jersey you showed was definitely sharp. However I personally loved the 2014 winter classic jerseys, they have such a cool "cabin" kinda feel that really suits a winter classic.

That Rangers Jersey is one I've always loved, something about that logo takes me back and Mike Richter's helmet looked so cool with that logo on it too.

That red Canucks jersey was so FIRE back in the day, I loved it!

ANA: ...yup. Other than that, I'd suggest the 2014 Stadium Series. Not often you see an almost wholly orange jersey. ARI: Fair pick, a design you could only really get with Rbk Edge... BOS: The WC is a good pick. I appreciate the brown. I did recently get a '16 WC with the similarly textured bear which is a lot of fun BUF: Turdburger is definitely the ugliest, so yeah, butterknives is a good pick CGY: I might've picked the Pedestals just because no other team has really tried that...not that it worked well in that case CAR: Probably the only pick you could really go with CHI: If not that one (which I'd probably peg as ugliest) I'd say the '09 WC with the tan chest stripe. COL: Yeah...that's the one. I don't think it's good looking, but I respect the heck out of the audacity. CBJ: I may have gone with the white rather than the blue with the thick waist striping DAL: Agreed, with the current alts as second for the unique neon green DET: Classy, sort of a Cougars vibe, though I think the '16 SS is even more unique with the diagonal stripe EDM: Yep, and I think it would be a great alt in their current colours...not that I've already mocked that up... FLA: They're a tough nut to crack, but that's the most unique in their closet. MIN: Maybe the original '03 version rather than the Edge one, but yeah, red and green butting up against one another is bold MTL: How the heck did you get that and how much was it? NSH: Hard to decide between those two for the most unique, but I respect that call. I do want that checker pattern alt... NJD: They're so consistent, you really couldn't go with anything else NYI: I think the current alt is a slight downgrade from that SS one (which I picked up not long ago); otherwise I'd say the weirdly patterned orange one NYR: That white Lady Liberty really does stand alone in their closet in a fascinating way. I do kind of like it more than the blue, yeah. OTT: The swoooooosh... I kind of love it, it's probably their most interesting version. Now that deserves a Reverse Retro treatment (working on it...) PHI: That logo treatment was awful, and the sleeve pattern was...odd. Only one I could think of otherwise was the '19 SS just because of the white-less look almost causing chromostereopsis PIT: Yep...yep... It's got a lot of awkward glitches, but it's fascinating. It's surprising how many people are clamoring for that to come back. SJS: I get that pick for the unique stripe treatment. Second pick would be that '98-07 design STL: With the skewed numbers, yeah, the red era was quite unique. TBL: The thunderstorm jersey is clearly the most unique pick but in the absence of that, I definitely agree with that stormy night jersey TOR: My inclination was toward the ARE-T-NAS throwback at first, but that's even more brilliantly stripey, so I can live with that pick VAN: I agree with the flying V as the ugliest, and it's hard to pick against it as most unique. My second pick was your honourable mention as well VGK: The gold. Had to be the gold, 100% agreed. And yes, it's bloody uncomfortable. WAS: I guess that's a reasonable pick. I was thinking it would be the primaries from that era, though I also think those are their ugliest. WPG: You blew my mind with that pick. Did not see that coming. I did agree with the WPG-specific pick. I actually quite like it, got a Hellebuyck for myself.

For Detroit I would've went with their 2016 Stadium Series jerseys for uniqueness. The big white numbers and the Refreshed English 'D' looks pretty good for what it was. And I see it a good amount of those jerseys when I walk into LCA.

Anyone could make a video with this same concept, but the fact that Shannon has all of the jerseys in his collection is truly impressive.

11:24 - Well, if I am not mistaken, Minnesota came up with the retro-looking circle logos as first (I think that Florida were the second and Columbus third, before all the others), so they definitely should not be getting accused of being unoriginal and stuff.

I'm so glad I got one of those centennial classic jerseys for Detroit at the time. It's such a handsome thing. Should have talked about the collar being closer to a proper knit sweater and not a modern jersey collar. Shame he doesn't have one with a player, as the lettering and numbers have this spectacular silver sparkle border on them. I have an Abdelkader jersey (even one with the A on it) and the disappointment with which his play and departure brought is deeply softened by those letters and numbers.

I’m sorta surprised you didn’t use the gradient jersey for angeles, tbh. By the way, those sabres jerseys (with the bull, including the one you had here) are fire. It’s too bad they’re now forgotten and Buffalo only uses those boring variations of the same uniform

I really liked the Arizona and Nashville jerseys here (even though I'm not a fan of either team), and would like to see them make a comeback. Sharp looks :)

It feels like that Lightning jersey would be really sharp with some blue mixed in, maybe the shoulders and a touch to the main logo. As it is here it's a little too reminiscent of the LA Kings colors.

Them Blues jerseys are sick, the home, away, and that red version were all unique and cool, but I'm not a st. Louis fan so maybe that's why I like them

I kinda like the Florida Panthers Alternate, because it has blue and dark blue on the jersey. The 2nd jersey I like is the Carolina Hurricanes jersey because of the makeover on that jersey that includes a flag getting involved in the stormy wind. The 3rd jersey I like is the Atlanta Thrashers jersey because of the red style with sharp object put on the jersey. And the last jersey I like is the Anaheim Ducks jersey because it feels like it comes from the 2 movies called D2 and D3 The Mighty Ducks. Those are the jerseys I’m trying to get to add to the collection.

3:19 this was their 3rd jerseys while they had the goat as their main jersey. this wasnt a retro. but yeah, the recent retro was a white and blue and gold version of it.

I have that same Dallas jersey. My godmother wanted me to have it after she passed away from breast cancer when I was 7. I still have it in the closet sealed in a bag with some other jerseys. It is too important to me to let it sit out and get dirty or to be worn and be stained.

The red in the st. Louis jersey could be from the city flag which is red white and blue with a gold coin surrounding the fleur de lis. The colors aren't exact though, so who knows for sure.

Love the Thrashers alternate. The dark blue mesh underarms and the dark blue stitching are such a nice little detail along with the ATLANTA script down one sleeve.

Shannon, as a NYR fan, the white Liberty jersey is THE BEST alternate jersey they’ve ever had with respect to the blue version, the heritage jersey, and the white stadium series. Most NYR fans truly miss the white liberties, myself included.

Old Jets logo is definitely superior. New one is graphically well designed, but it's austere and corporate looking. It looks like it could be the logo for Bombardier or something or a Canadian military logo.

Gotta say Arizona's reverse retro is their most unique hands down. I loved the idea Colorado went for the mountain in their jersey, but yeah I'll admit it didn't pan out.
