I was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis about three years ago. My pains are very much concentrated on my fingers and entire arms. Most of the time I rely on pain medication which rarely takes my pain away. This morning i was desperately looking for pain relief for my painful fingers when i saw your video. I watched and exercised following your techniques and was able to feel relieved for the first time. I will be following you thank you very much.
Hello I also have the same disease...it gets worse in the morning..I was diagnosed at the age of 18.. how do you cope with this illness? And what meds you are on?
Good exercises to get them moving. But the best way is first or overnight to wear a 100% wool or other natural fiber like mohair, alpaca or angora, hand or wrist warmer, glove or mitt. This will warm up your hands and increase circulation to alleviate pain and increase the capcity for movement. Wool works well as long as it is not superwash or has any synthetic. Mohair is 4 x warmer than wool, alpaca is 6x warmer and angora is 8x warmer than wool . But it must be 100% with no synthetic or nylon. If you have difficulty wearing wool make sure it is merino under 21 microns. Angora is the best because it has amazing thermal properties that increase circulation and is well known for alleviating pain. Thermal means it is hollow and the air in the hollow fiber is what contributes to the warmth. The other natural fibers have insulating capacity meaning air is trapped between the fibers. But angora has both making it the warmest fiber on the planet. It works wonders on arthritis, carpal tunnel and neuropathy . So if you knit and can make your own find some natural or even handspun natural fiber yarn to make them . And don't ever let your fingers get cold .
My dad and I both had arthritis in our thumbs from constantly grabbing the mail. He passed in 2011. I wish I had seen this video then. It would have saved us alot of pain. Thank you.
Unfortunately I do not have a video for this since there is a very specific protocol to follow but your hand therapist or doctor should be able to guide you through a protected motion program.

My job that I have now I’ve been working there 2years I work for a laundry service for a major hospital in my city before I started working there I had no problem with my hands so these exercises help my thumb on my right hand since that’s my dominant hand was very stiff before I started these exercises, but now I can move it freely
Lately my hands get cramped making it difficult for me to move or pick up stuff. This is a new thing but it’s frustrating me. I have a lot of arthritis in my hands. I don’t know if maybe the arthritis is getting worse and think that’s the issue. Do you have any suggestions?
I have osteathritis in a first beginning stage, so its not developed so bad yet. I have found out a couple of great excersices and tips below that helped me tremendously, especially point 2. has been a miracle excercise for me. 1. soak hands in warm water (not so hot as it burns, but still more hot than lurk warm). Keep them submerged for 3-5 minutes. 2. Now this one I haven't really heard about or read anywhere, but I figure it out myself where I was just massaging my fingers. I was kinda mindblown at the result. So, anyway here it is: Pull and squeeze each finger from the root to tip in such a fashion that can feel the blood being squeezed into the finger. it's important to do this very slowly and gently, do not squeeze too hard or pull to fast/hard (dont wanna tear your joints or anything else apart!!). Also be very careful not to twist the finger, must pull in straight direction and not either left or right but straigth away from the hand. This significantly reduces or even get rid of stiffness and finger joint pain, almost immediately and over time. It also feels incredibly nice for some reason, sometimes I get the goosebumbs on my arms or back as I feel the blood being squeezed into the finger. 3. squeeze a soft rubber ball now and then. This trains the muscles in your hands which will over time help support you joints causing them to wear down slower. Be mindful to not overdo it with repetiveness as this what causes osteoathritis in the first place. 4. Lift weights. But be very careful how you grip the weights as to not twist, turn or otherwise stress the joints fingers incorrectly with the weights. But just like with the rubber ball this will build muscles, also in the hand/fingers. 5. Generally be very mindful on how you handle objects with your fingers. A wrong motion, grip, twist, pull etc may cause further damage to your already vulnerable joints. And sadly some damage can never fully recover if it was too extensive, or you were unlucky. 6. consider using alternatives to mouse and keyboard as the extreme repetitiveness daily for years and decades is a major culprit for osteoathritis. 7. Take daily supplements of fishoil; make sure to use products that are certified free from toxins, as fatty fish almost always contains very poisonous fat-soluble toxins such as dioxin and mercury etc. These toxins can easily be 100% removed through refinement by the producers of the product, but some do not do this properly because it allows them to save a little bit on the process earning them a slightly higher profit. So avoid those products, you may need to do some research. Also I take double the fish oil dosis we use in my country, but your country may have different dosis set, so dont just take double. But personally I do not believe there can be any harm in eating too much fish oil unless you got into some kind of extreme amount. 8. Generally eat healthily, lots of vegetables, no sugar, cut down on fat. Avoid all candy, cakes, chocolate etc. 9. Exercise at least 30 minute moderate intensity every day. And twice per week at least 20 min high intensity. Note that for 2. and 3. there may be hand/finger injuries where these excersises could instead actually cause damage. So you have the full responsibility to take care of yourself. It is impossible for me to guarantee if my information would not work for you or even cause harm. This depends on your specific condition, the way you do it and on the specific kind of condition/injury/athritis your hands has. So make sure to seek professional health advice and care from a authorized specialist first, and let them help and instruct you in the care and treatment for you. That being said these 5 points has completely removed the finger and finger joint pain and stiffness for me. I cant still pain in the joints if I grip and object the wrong way or apply too much pressure to fingers in certain positions, so I have learned the situation and certain ways to use my fingers to not cause stress to worsen the wear down. But apart from that I can use my hand fingers almost normally like anyone else. I also box (on a punchingbag) with boxing gloves on, and have no problems with any pain from that at all as long as I use proper technique.
Hi Michelle my left fingers have little eyes popping out on the top of my fingers, what exercise can i do to decrease my hand from getting worse I am 65 years this year.
I had a tendon cut repaired 2 months ago in DIP of middle finger, but my PIP joint become swollen and can not be stretched like other fingers because i used fiber glass for 6 weeks and my hand and fingers were bended under it because of of tendon cut surgery. Kindly advice me what to do, thanks
I'm having arthritis on both my hands but my little finger in right hand i keep getting a burning pain at the end of finger. Pls advise home for this pain
Joints do not get broken from osteoarthritis alone. Moving the joints gently (these don't strain) improves flexibility, increases blood flow and synovial fluid which helps lubricate the joints so they don't hurt as bad when you move them. Plus a lot of daily activities do not take your joints through the full range of motion necessary.
Oh my thank you for this finger exercise session. As a former athlete my hands are stiff in the morning but this will truly help. Thanks again and may God richly bless you and this channel.
Wow! What a great video. Just started these finger joint excerises yesterday afternoon and again this morning. This afternoon I am already feeling remarkable improvement in flexibility and less pain. Amazing! Thank you. I thumbed up and subscribed. I especially enjoyed your relaxed pace and voice along with full explanations on the proper technique while I follow along. Indeed, well done! 🥰
Both of my hands hurt from arthritis and fibromyalgia. I'm a righty so that one seems to hurt more often. After doing your exercises once both hands feel looser. While doing the exercises I felt a bit nauseous, but I will keep doing them to try to relieve some pain down the road. Thanks for making videos to try to help people in pain.
I have R.A. 15 years, my fingers are so painful. Soaking hands in warm water for about 15 minutes relaxes muscles and relieve pain I was dishes in the morning, kill 2 birds with one stone. Exercising my hands will help. 5hank you.😊
Amazing! Thank you! I will do these before, during and after all the cross stitching I do. These are the best I’ve done, I can literally feel the circulation and warmed hands. Subscribed!! HOPE ❤️
I’ve had problems with my hands for years - but I’ve just tried these exercises and have been able to do them so I’m going to keep them up. Thank you… 😊
Hello Michelle, when I do the workout where the thumb meets each finger, I can't do so for my middle finger without the ring finger bending along with it. The knuckle of my ring finger and bone/nerves that lead to the back of the wrist hurt if I try to keep the ring finger up while bending the middle finger to meet the thumb. This is particular to the right hand. In this case, what do you suggest I do? This is a very particular description of the particular pain that I am experiencing, and I realize the workout you are instructing here is magnifying this pain and perhaps may provide insight into what the problem is.
I had a fracture on my ring finger last year and I really didn't try to work on it or get therapy as I fell in a chronic depression. I couldn't do tattoos or play guitar due to that and now I finally decided to do therapy so I did your routines for days and it's my first time seeing the PIP joints of two of my fingers actually improve a looooot. Thank you so much for your work! I'll forever be grateful for you 😭🥺
Thank You Michelle. I have severe osteoarthritis in my hands and fingers. I utilizes many therapies and have added these exercises to the ones I already have. I have great days and bad ones. But the exercises help the most.
This is wonderful. I need this to help my sore joints. I also have trigger fingers to deal with, so this helps a great deal. Felt good to do these exercises. Thank you. :)
My right hand - the fingers bent and got stuck part way closing. In messing around I realized that if I adjusted my neck - sort of up and back - it released my stuck claw fingers. Works like a charm. Try it. Looking for the root cause is a successful way to go. Also - I was limping and I thought it was planter facia. But I kept watching videos and messing around. I finally realized my hip was the problem. I put my right leg on a chair and then with my arm pushed my hip forward. Works like a charm. Could have been my ankle, my knee, my back - but it was my hip. The foot problem was referral pain. Not the root cause. Just love fixing the root cause. My poor unfortunate friend instead had his fingers operated on. Scar tissue…. Oh Well!!!
Same. I wish my poor mother could've seen this when she was still here. Bad arthritis in her hands. It's great that you are on RU-vid. In her time this would have required individual instruction at a Drs. office. I filled plastic coke bottles with sand to make exercise dumbbells for her to use while sitting. The weight was perfect for the strength level and the fat grip didn't hurt and actually helped exercise hands too. Cost was zero.
Both my hands have arthritis, and having just done your exercises, they do feel a little better, so will practice regular, thankyou, as a fifth exercise I grip a can of beer, amazing results. Cheers
The inflamation and pain jumps from joint to joint. One day one or three joints can be swollen and painful and then it transfers to another joint. Its the weirdest thing. I'll give these exercises another go. Thanks
Very effective exercise, good feel in the fingers. Thank u so much. My left hand index finger got trigger finger. I can't bend bend it in the middle joint. Will this exercise help to get it back normal?please reply .
I've just tried these exercises for the first time. I am 76 and have general osteoarthritis. My left thumb joint is very swollen and at times extremely painful, even if I'm not moving my thumb or hand. On my right hand the second finger has started giving me problems - this only started a few weeks ago. When I wake up in the morning it's curved and stiff. I usually wriggle my fingers around and the stiffness goes; however, this can return during the course of the day. My biggest fear is that I will end up with clawlike hands and not be able to sew - my favourite hobby. Will these exercises, if done regularly, say every day, at least slow down the process? Does it help to wear a finger splint overnight? What about gloves? Hiw often should the exercises be done? By the way, although these exercises seem gentle, some of my fingers hurt a lot. Is this normal in the beginning?
Thankfully an exercise that helps me I have rum tied arthritis in both hands and wrists this helped me touch my little fingers and thumbs together which I haven’t been able to for years thank you again ❤❤
Thank you for this video - the exercises did help, and I will do them daily. Your voice is very soothing! I have osteoarthritis, fibromyalgia, two carpel tunnel surgeries and one thumb surgery so pain and stiffness are daily companions. It is doubly hard because all my hobbies involved my hands (cross stitch, quilting, tennis, etc.) So any pain relief is most welcome, and I also appreciate the comments in this thread. I subscribed!
Thank you for this clip of exercises. I have bad arthritis in my top joints from playing guitar all my life. Its great to see something that can help. ❤️👍
In the first exercise, what about MUSCLE BALANCE by ALSO starting with the smallest finger and moving in an outward direction with the thumb moving last? Injured hands need strength and agility in the two lesser used fingers, too!
Thank you very much. I had my middle finger tip bent. After doing your exercise it has completely straightened after just 2 days. Also the fingers feel RELAXED with feel of blood circulating.
When you have arthritis in your big knuckle on your index finger you’re pretty much SOL. My hand doctor said there’s nothing he can do about that and there’s no surgery. You can do on that particular knuckle so you are stuck with getting steroid shots which only last about a week if you’re lucky and then you gotta wait three or four months before you can get the next one so basically those are totally worthless and you’re gonna live in pain.
Nice to come across your vlog on Fingers arthritis. My lefthand fingers except thumb & index are in pain for the past 2, 3 months. After doing exactly as you, I think it gona help me, will repeat many times every day. Hopefully to be relieved. thanks for your relaxing voice explanation.
Just saw your vedio ,, and I found so helpful,, I have problem my middle finger on my left hand and ring finger on my right hand,,, hopefully by doing this tips will solve my problem, ❤😮
My middle fingers are definitely the worst! Thank you for these exercises I will begin with them 🙏 They say that moringa rheumatoid arthritis like myself. So I bought Moringa powder and I'm going to make my own pills at home and start putting that into my body. People say they have been cured from it
Am I supposed to feel that the stiffness is gone just after the first try? Cause it's not. Is that normal. Knowing that I just started having them recently, and I'm 45. Thx❤
I have really bad arthritis in my hands and saw your video this morning and I tried it. It helped a bit. It is worse in the morning. I was getting steroid needles in my nuckles from a Rhumatologist. My daughter was with me and cringed. I intend to do these several times per day. Thank you so much.
I wasn’t diagnosed with arthritis, but I know that I have arthritis cause when I crochet my hands get sore really quickly so I’m really hoping that these exercises will help. Thank you. I appreciate your video.

thank-you, lot of hand pain this morning, well everyday, but this morning was most noticeable. subscribed. have done many therapies and even carpal tunnel surgery, also have fibromyalgia, i will follow your workouts and be hopeful.
It's the diet. You have to stop eating and drinking vegetable oils. The worst diet to follow is low fat synthetic sugars processed vegetable oil GMO grains. Eat simple. Takes about 3 to 6 months to rid your body.
