Finger stalls are a great way to protect your fingers when shooting a recurve bow or longbow. I've been using them for quite a while. Here's a quick video showing how to make them.

I've never seen these before. I'd like to give those a shot. I always use a glove, not a fan of a tab. So these may be the ticket for me.

Do you like these better than gloves and tabs and if so why? All the best Aaron Ps love your videos.

I've never liked a tab. They're about the same as a glove, only easier to make.

What sewing machine double you use there? Thanks

I would like to try making these. (Wish me luck! Nearly flunked the sewing part of home economic when I was in school. Clearly shoot better than I sew, thank God.). Could you tell me the height and width of the little pattern you use. That will give me a place to start. Thanks for this. Can't wait to try these. Love your videos. 🎯

Trace your fingers, then add about a quarter inch all around. that'll get you in the ball park.

Clay Hayes -Thanks so much. I shoot with an 80-year-old gentleman who has nerve damage in his fingertips, causing difficulty with release. I think these might be perfect!

Jees, I noticed those the other day and going to ask. Guess I don't have to now. Of course I'm a little lazier. Being a falconer who uses welding gloves instead of buying an expensive falconry glove... I have a few right handed gloves I don't use. So I'll e cutting the finger tips off and adding a layer of leather to the inside. Thanks for the tip.

you'll probably have to re stitch them to make them fit close. Otherwise they'll fly off when you shoot.

ya I'm noticing that they are a touch loose. I glued a couple layers to the inside of the fingers,, but still working with the concept. Thanks for the head start on the build though.

When did you go to a tab? All your new videos use a tab. How tight do you need these to be to stay on your finger?
@clayhayeshunter
@clayhayeshunter 5 лет назад
I've been shooting a tab for a couple years. These don't need to be super tight but having them fitted to your fingers is important.

Would a soft leather be good or should it be a hard slick finish for durability?
@clayhayeshunter
@clayhayeshunter 6 лет назад
either will work

I wonder if just using some old denim jeans would work? They're pretty durable.
@MustObeyTheRules

Then again might not protect your fingers near as much as the leather.
@clayhayeshunter
@clayhayeshunter 8 лет назад
yea, that'd be pretty thin.

how thick should your stalls be clay? because I have some made from cow hide and my fingers are still a little sore after shooting.
@clayhayeshunter

I have the one that goes on my middle finger padded a little on the inside. The middle finger gets most of the pressure so it needed a little more protection. Give that a try. Just glue another piece of leather on the inside. ch

Ha, I used to do a lot of brain tanning but don't have the time now. It takes a big commitment to brain tan a hide.
