Happy Almost 1 year anniversary! I think it's so nice to make a matching stick season sweater for your boyfriend! I don't know you guys, but it will be so cute! I can't wait to see your colorwork adventures. I've knitted a few pairs of colorwork socks and a headband, and really enjoyed it. I really want to make a colorwork sweater, but I haven't find the perfect one yet, so I really love all the colorwork sweaters mentioned, maybe I'll find the perfect one. I was working on my scrappy blanket, finished two squares during this podcast 🎉

Another lovely episode Marlene! I truly enjoyed seeing your Stick Season grow in the test group. A little tip for knitting with unspun held double is to preball up the yarn into palm sized balls and then place them in a yarn bowl as you knit to reduce the tension from pulling on the yarn. This will help with the splitting.
@marleneknits

Thank you so much Mia! 🧡 I have been trying too pre pull some yarn every once in a while and it has been helping with less breakage which I think is a similar solution and I don’t have a yarn bowl (yet)

Your podcast anniversary day is also my birthday! 🎉 Your finished objects look perfect. It was surprising to get to know there are some hidden “mistakes”. It puts things into perspective: others would never notice any issue when looking at our missteps 😅 I casted on a Sweet Shop Blanket inspired by yours and I’m excited to knit on it into December as well, such a cozy knit! Thank you for keeping me company, Marlene. I was watching you right after having put my daughter to bed and I need some “me time” 🙏

Love your finished sweaters! Yes, Masham is pronounced how Jule pronounces it - ‘mass-um’. I believe the Masham breed of sheep are named after the town Masham which is North Yorkshire in the UK. 😊

Working on my Killiney Blouse while watching. All of your FO’s look great. And I love the idea of Sunday Socks as gifts. At the top of the year I bought Drops yarn to make all my family sweaters by Christmas but I have not cast on a single one! 😅 so everyone might end up with socks or beanies! I do think I’d like to make Emily Curtis’s Dad Sweater either for my Dad or Uncle. They both are very knitworthy and would love to have their own sweater. Hoping your partner enjoys his sweater and his birthday! Mine is November also! You know it’s interesting to me that you weren’t paid for the WoolyKnit promotion, just gifted yarn. Gifted yarn is great but I’m sure there are many people who purchased just off your recommendation. I know I only knew of and purchased from them when Bethany of Well Loved Knits and Rebecca Clow had their offers with them. It only seems right you all would get a piece of the pie! Hoping that’s something that changes in our industry sooner. I don’t think there is anything wrong with being compensated for recommending a product you enjoy that led others to purchase it. 🤔
@marleneknits
@marleneknits 9 месяцев назад
Oh yes! I also want to make that Dad’s Sweater too, hopefully in the new year ☺️ Hope you get some gift knitting done before the holidays and I do think socks and hats are great options! 🎄 I get what you are saying and I would very much agree that we have to change gears when it comes to paying people for beautiful content and advertisement and marketing basically. I have decided to allow brands to send me goodies to try out, if I would purchase them with my own money anyways or have purchased and enjoyed their goods before & if they’re not expecting anything particularly from me (no certain wording, X amount of postings or mentions) so it is up to me if and how I talk about it! This rule certainly makes more sense for smaller businesses and friends who have brands that I want to highlight and obviously I felt flattered by Woolyknit asking me to collaborate and had asked them if they had a budget to which they unfortunately said no, still I did say yes to this partly because I wanted to try more yarn / colors from them myself and because I thought that some of my followers and friends would like the discount they offered with no strings attached. but I will certainly keep this in mind for the future and am only accepting about 10-20% of gift offerings and collaboration requests anyway because I don’t want my videos to become too ad heavy even though it doesn’t affect my judgment of the things at all! Thanks for sharing your thoughts about this topic with me, it’s very appreciated ☺️🧡

I just finished my second petal drop sock as I was watching , such a cozy episode . Regarding books, I think Emily Henry and Hannah Grace are quite distinct in how thru approach romance and I can definitely see why you might like one but not the other . For more books in the line of Emily Henry, I would suggest Rachel Lynn Solomon’s books (you have the tiny woman in some of those too, but she approaches mental health in a very nice way and the PNW setting might appeal to you). I also loved Julia Whelan’s “Thank you for listening” which is especially great on audio (:

I just finished my Traveler's Cardigan and had some trouble doing the button band the way that it was described in the pattern (stitches were way too loose) that's why I ribbed back and used my interchangeable needles and switch the needles every time when I knitted the button band - hope this description makes sense. So if you're having trouble there is an alternative :)

Hi Marlene! I recently got into knitting (while I was pregnant) and I found you. So happy for this! I'm currently working on 1 crochet cardigan and 3 knitting projects (the peacock blouse, the flutter buttershirt and the cloud sweater) and I was a monogamous maker 😅... And I have so many more projects ready to cast on! 😊 can't wait! Kisses from Italy

A year?! Your hair looks very nice as does that lip color. Not sure if that’s new too but looks great on you. All your knits are are beautiful. I’m also just now knitting on sweater no. 26 in an orange, (yes, orange) color. May not be your preferred rusty type orange but rather more of a tomato-soup orange. Maybe influenced by High Fiber Knits. 😁
