This week I got both of my lower cabinets installed. I was also able to get the butcher block all cut up and installed as well. The oven is fitting really nice, I’m excited to get the propane lines run so we can get this bad boy fired up. The sink turned out really nice and I’m stoked with how the gold hardware/faucet is looking in the van.
As you can tell, I have some electrical done and also did some work on the back walls. That stuff will be coming in future videos, so stay tuned. Yewwwwwwwww!

Another option for tiny sinks that won't need to be sealed or resealed are bar sinks. Made of metal and function just like kitchen sinks, but smaller! I'll most likely be using one in my future can to save on weight and avoid worrying about maintenance on the stone :)

Definitely, bar sinks are a great option too

Jason, could you share a bit more color on how you built those beams to cover up the metal pillars? Loved how they turned out with the outlets and switches on them. The wall behind / adjacent seems to curve relative to the front surface of the beam, so curious how you trimmed the side panels so they would be flush against both the front panel (with outlets) and the back wall.
@JasonKlunk
@JasonKlunk 3 года назад
Thanks. They were a bit tricky to make, but it's like everything else in the van, you have to learn how to scribe and create templates. For the side pieces, I did one at a time with cardboard. I started with the back/curve, got it to fit nicely against the curve, and then cut the piece to the right depth. Repeat for the second side, and match the depth. The front is easy, it's just a matter of squaring it up.

Hey Jason, Have loved watching your van build, you’re providing me with lots of inspiration and guidance as I convert our sprinter into a tiny home on wheels. Just wanted to know how you secured your cabinets to the van? I love how much you’re getting the most out of your Kreg jig, so I assumed this would be the method? Thanks again for your detailed videos! Love your work!
@JasonKlunk
@JasonKlunk 3 года назад
thanks. The cabinets are secured to the floor and to the wall. I used pocket screws in some spots but also just regular screws in areas where I could.

Jason, your videos have been a huge help. I was installing ceiling furring strips today and used your craft paper tip. Also created a furring strip for the front of the van in the same way you showed. Clutch! I had a couple questions - Do you have any tips for finishing the area where the Promaster wall juts out in the middle of the van? Also, did you panel the back or top of your upper cabinet after attaching them to the furring strips? Thank you, I hope you are enjoying the van!
@JasonKlunk
@JasonKlunk 3 года назад
Awesome. I ended up building small 'beams' to go over those pillars, they sit in between my uppers and the butcher block. I ran most of my electrical through those pillars and then on my beams I have light switches and outlets. I paneled behind the uppers before I put them up. If I were to build another one, that's the only thing I would do different - find a better way to panel that whole wall.

Can you share how you anchored the cabinets to the floor/wall? Of all the videos out there, none show how that part goes… Thanks!
@JasonKlunk
@JasonKlunk 2 года назад
Sure. I used normal screwed to go into the furing strips on the walls. I also used pocket screws to go into the floor.

Question for you! We just purchased a two burner stovetop / oven combo from Thetford, and are curious if you added any kind of insulation layer between the oven itself and the surrounding plywood on the cabinets or backwall?
@JasonKlunk
@JasonKlunk 3 года назад
No, I was concerned about that as well though. There are very specific requirements for installation that I followed with my model, I'm sure yours is similar. You basically don't want gaps between the range and any surrounding cabinet, no combustible material next to the range, and make sure you have enough clearance above. Here's the documentation on mine: www.dometic.com/assets/31/72/installation%20and%20operating%20manual_63172.pdf

What did you use to secure the stone sink to the plywood base? Adhesive or mechanical?

No adhesive, it’s locked in tight between the cab and the countertop.

Hi, we love your build & colour choices. We noticed that the Vigo vessel sink is advertised as non-porous, but you mention needing to seal it because it's porous...can you clarify please?
@JasonKlunk
@JasonKlunk 3 года назад
Thanks. From what I've seen in person, it needs to be sealed. You can test it out yourself on a piece of the sink that won't ever be visible. There are other people using the same sink who suggest a sealant as well.

@@JasonKlunk Thank you so much for replying! I think we'll seal it just to be on the safe side :) On another note, how have your push to open drawer slides worked out for you? We're looking into those as well!
