Hi Boby!! I love your videos. I am from Brazil. I think if is possible to change the configuration when use a kind material and thickness, could have an better quality of the cut process. Even if you do this manual, like setting the configuration before to start the cut process. Because each material has different properties and the length is important too to this process. Those values combined will give the right velocity and distance to cut with an good precision. You could find some table with those values, like in drilling cut we have too. Those values come of experiments the industry/university have done. Thank you so much for share your knolegwe :)

Right now it's word of mouth on getting work. I charge a per hour rate + metal cost for jobs because I have to draw out everything I cut. I spend more time drawing than I do cutting. Thanks for watching!
@felipealves1284

@@MakingStuff I have the same problem and I was thinking if I could find someone do the drawing in home office regime. Tha way I can increase the productivity, instead of lost time drawing and that person could work from home and do other things, not only my job. Pay for each drawing. Really great upgrade. A professional plasma cutter is going to give you a lot better cuts all the time. Yeah I know the cheaper ones will cut but not nearly as well.

So looks like you have a fan input, what about exhaust? You pull cool air in, is there a way to get hot air out? Maybe I missed it.
@MakingStuff
@MakingStuff 4 года назад
I can tell a difference with the fan turned on and off. An exhaust port will probably be necessary this summer or if it gets used for long periods of time. I just wanted to see how well it worked before cutting more holes in the enclosure.
@josephinring
@josephinring 4 года назад
I was about to ask that in a comment until I saw this comment. Personally I have no fan or vents on my enclosure but I only have a single power supply and rarely run the machine for longer than a couple of hours at a time and have never had a problem.
@sbirdranch
@sbirdranch 4 года назад
It turned out very nice. I will finish mine in the next week or so. I yoo have a Power Max 45 and Proma HTC. I noticed you ran the plasma at full amperage for that thin metal. Would you consider a video on your HTC settings (specifically the HTC) and then the work flow for changing settings for different material thickness? P.
@MakingStuff
@MakingStuff 4 года назад
I just used the settings in the Hypertherm manual. If you lower the amps, then you have to lower the speed also, so I just leave it at max then the amchine can run at full speed. Also, that makes one less thing to worry about on the setup when the amps are always max.
@Ricardo-uw3ov
@Ricardo-uw3ov 3 года назад
The problem is that the cut offset is not constant. It depends on speed, so the software should correct in function of speed.

Brilliant build and excellent explanations all the way through. I will be trying this build myself. One question though, did you find that the plasma caused any issues with the sensitive electronics you used? I have seen other videos where this was a real issue, not sure if you did something to avoid this as I don’t think you mentioned it in the videos. Thanks again for the really useful information man, i am now a subscriber for life!
@MakingStuff
@MakingStuff 3 года назад
I used shielded cables and it seems to have done the trick. I recently also had to ad some filter caps on the Mesa board. Don't know why, but it started interfering with the THC signals but the caps fixed the problem.
@michaelosborne4065
@michaelosborne4065 3 года назад
I have ordered the shielded cables, I have also opted for the Pokeys57CNC board, it’s got the relays built in and seems to be a little in front of the other boards. Pokeys also make the PlasmaSens so this will work natively with the board. Your videos are brilliant and I will be joining your patron! I wasn’t going to attempt this build until I watched you run through the process, I am hoping you didn’t just make it look easy 😂

The only thing I would do different is build it 4ft x 4ft instead on 2ft x 4ft. also, maybe make the water pan 3 inches deep instead of 4inches. It's been working great and is my favorite tool to use in the shop.

Nice upgrade like the cable guide. I have one question about the THC Proma ( I also have one) . When you change your cutting amperage on your plasma cutter for thickness of material do you deem it neccessary to change the voltage reading on the Proma THC? I am having a problem trying to adjust the correct voltage on the THC for correct tracking. I am using Mach3.
@MakingStuff
@MakingStuff 4 года назад
I leave the plasma cutter set to max all the time. It's just one less thing to deal with. The cut charts in the Hypertherm manual are all set to 45A (max) unless you get into thin stuff like 20ga or thinner.
@TheJR914
@TheJR914 4 года назад
@@MakingStuff Thanks for replying! That's a good idea I normally I cut 1/4 to 1/2" plate. I am using a Miller 2050 which is 50 amps max. Adjusting the speed for each thickness would be the way to go thanks. Keep up the good videos I have been watching for years.

I'm wondering, I couldn't see a vent or anything like that to draw in air, only the fan mounted to extract air from the enclosure. Did you hide the intake vent under the mounting plate?
@OlivierLopezCh
@OlivierLopezCh 4 года назад
The fan that he installed pulls air into the enclosure, but it seems he did not add an output fan or grille. Also, the 3D printed fan enclosure needs to have some type of mesh or scotch-brite material to avoid getting debris or dust in the electronics compartment.
@FullMetalFox2
@FullMetalFox2 4 года назад
@@OlivierLopezCh Look at the fan again, it's top and blades leading edges are visible inside the box, so its pulling air out of the box. So I questioned if he forgot holes for the air to get into the enclosure first, or if he placed them on a location not visible in the video.

I hope u can teach an old man new tricks. Concerning power controllers used to power a dc motor on a wood lathe or for that matter any woodworking tool. Do all, some or what accept regular 110 house current as power input or is there some that require only dc power input? Just a bit confused in reading the descriptions to some on Amazon, ebay, etc. Sometimes neither is mentioned and I wonder if I’m just stupid or missed something. I have my wood lathe running with a dc motor through the MC-60 that came on the same treadmill. I was wondering if you could just avoid using the mc-60 altogether and use a power controller. Hope u can teach an old dog new tricks. Thanks a lot Oh I forgot, on my wood lathe where I have the dc motor running through the mc-60, I want to fix it where it will run forward and reverse. I have a DTDP switch wire up and ready to install & I wanted to know if I could piggy back to the connectors inside the mc-60 where the power and motor are connected? In other words can I connect the DTDP switch wires onto the same posts where they are connected to the Mc-60? If this isn’t clear please let me know and I’ll try to go from another direction. And finally, whew! I have seen contradictory statements on RU-vid about which set of wires go where on the DTDP switch. One site says the middle two wires go to motor & the pair on end goes to power supply. Other sites say opposite. Some say it Doesn’t matter. Which is it? Thank you, I’m really learning a lot from watching your videos.
