@@jadedrock1 Hey, Wes can add a whole new viewership this way! I wondered what was going on occasionally, but if you've ever seen guys from like Indonesia work on engines and such, they are generally quiet and on occasion add "English" subtitles. Silent works for many foreigners as English is currently the second language around the world and one can pause the video to look up an English word in the dictionary.
No problems with a commentary Wes. Half the reason for watching this kind of content is for the makers personality. If people don't like it there is always a volume control :-)
Also have to agree. Wes talks just enough for me. Some guys I follow can be a bit long winded, then on the other side of the spectrum are the guys that don’t say anything... Wes is like the perfect mix between the two!
@@budandbean1 there's a definite difference in someone just yammering because they like the sound and talking while there's action. Talking while working is a whole different deal.
The best bit in the non-talking bit was when you started talking about not talking. Max scared the crap out of me. Keep the chatter, it's why I hang around in your shop.
Viewers who don’t want or need commentary must already have mastered this task and are only here to judge. I would prefer to hear what you’re opinion and experience has to offer. Plus there is the appreciation by those who see this channel for what it is.
Silent fork lift repair? How in the world should I exactly know now what you are doing and learn additionally from it without your explanations? Your videos had been excellent with the "talking" respectively all the necessary explanations. That's definitely fundamental. If viewers don't want to hear that they could simply turn the volume down/off or use fast forward until explanations are over.
The silent repair is very good, because then we have no information about why he choose a given strategy. That opens up for a bucketfull of second guessing. And second guessing, along with pure disinformation seems to be the only thing that get people out of bed these days.
Super WEIRD, forgot whomever stated you should not be narrating, they can go watch other channels in my opinion, your narration and commentary no matter how dry or querkee it may be is part of your channel and makes you who you are, I say you keep following your gut, do it the way you always have been and press on, look at the numbers, they DO NOT LIE, 68,000 subscribers, obviously agree with me WesWork..!
Part of learning is hearing someones thought processes, and experiences while they are doing a job. What pitfalls to avoid, and general chatter is welcome as well. You need to keep doing you Wes, and stop worrying about ridiculous comments like that.
Great job with Max! I would not be watching, subscribed, or recommending your videos to others if you were silent. Keep talking and sharing your knowledge. Thanks for the awesome work so far!
Wes, you have a great talent and ability to explain what you are doing. Keep it up! Some other yahoo RU-vid "mechanics" just blather on and are just plain annoying.
Have to agree just stumbled onto this channel this past month and definitely one of the more knowledgeable people on a lot of subjects and honest when hes just winging it and doesnt know. You can tell he is a very wholseome man brings me vibes of my ole home town.
Wes, you talk as much as you want. I love how you explain everything in depth. The ones who want less of you talking are the ones not wanting to learn.
Never give in to the "comments NAZIs" they will just find something else to whine about. Ignore them, it's your channel, talk as much as you want. I enjoy the conversation.
I learn from your talks. Learn something new each time. This isn't a "Restore a 70-year-old abandoned garden tiller" channel. I put them on when I want to go to sleep.
If they don't like you talking, they can mute the sound. As a non-mechanic, i like hearing what you are doing, what a certain component does, etc. It's YOUR channel.
@@looklookerlooking Not necessarily. I'm seeing more and more channels saying that some of the trolls are now unblockable. Usually its the objective political/general news commentary channels and the trolls are the far leftist tools that never bring anything intelligent or valid to a conversation but I occasionally now see some of these troll account posting stupid stuff in non political/general news channels and nothing is being done about it there either, as if those channel owners cant remove them either.
Wes, your a good man, a good father and a good mechanic. Just be yourself...that's good enough for most of us. Always remember the words of John Lydgate: “You can please some of the people all of the time, you can please all of the people some of the time, but you can’t please all of the people all of the time”.”
Wes, the no talking thing doesn’t work for me. I come here to watch and listen to you work. You provide a unique perspective about your jobs and that is refreshing. Cheers from Australia
I skipped most of the part without commentary because your personality is what makes the channel. There are a million channels that fix heavy equipment, etc. but there is only one Wes.
Wes, I love how you are just baiting the youtube armchair experts. Keep it up and don't let them get to you. Love the videos! Also I think the things I really enjoy on your channel IS the narration!
Your talking is half the reason the videos are so entertaining. You explain what we’re seeing and the frequent use of sarcasm is really funny. Plus, it’s refreshing to see someone as talented as you get frustrated at doing this.
Love your commentary. Especially when you say things like: Be sure to comment that I'm using the file wrong, that's always fun to read. And the classic about pouring oil in a bald eagles nest. Have a good one and looking forward to the next one. 👍
I watch your videos for education / entertainment.... so the narration is 100% part of the learning experience for me. So my vote is YES on the narration.
Wes, keep up the good work! Also, keep talking us through your work. Its how we learn from you and your personality is what makes the video enjoyable. I missed the "There is your problem lady.". Ignore the know it alls. They can just mute if they do not like it. Looking forward to your next video.
I prefer when you explain things what they are and how they function. I also like your humor and stories you tell. That is what makes your channel unique.
Oh, that dog scared the hell outta me too. And for me the experiment failed. I like to listen to you telling what you do. It's just chill; way better than over the top kids slamming body mods on expensive cars and think that's real content.
I expect you'll throw your hands up in frustration, but i enjoy your commentary. I'm not familiar with the tools and techniques you commonly use to get a job done, so your descriptions are important to me. Keep up the interesting videos, and glad the the pup came away unscathed.
Sort of the point of these videos - to inform the uninformed and those who are interested. If I knew exactly what he was doing and why I wouldn't bother watching.
My dad was a mechanic, a country mechanic, he would and could fix anything. But for a long time he was a John Deere field service guy, he loved the damn things. I love your video's, it takes me back to working with him in the '70's and '80's doing virtually the same stuff (without the rust here in Aus). Don't change anything you do especially the chatter, anyone who doesn't like it can bugger off I reckon.
Hey Wes This is YOUR channel, not anyone else's. If they dont like it, they dont have to watch it, why would you even care what others think. You have a whole lot more of us, who really enjoy your details on how you fix things. Thanks for Sharing your videos
I like the trick with the pliers to install the rod seal in the gland end, I’ll have to use that next time instead of wrestling with it. Oh and please keep commentating, it was a bit awkward.
I watch for the content, and that includes the commentary. The “No Commentary” thing does work for some channels, but in my opinion, yours is better with it.
Wes shows you that engineering is far more than swapping out parts - he is a good model for any youngsters who like to use hands and brain - so for me I much prefer him to ‘talk us through’ his reasoning to get a sound workable solution to the problems he encounters - many thanks Wes
One of the primary reasons I subscribed to you channel was due to your commentary, probably one of the best , clear, easy to follow and very informative. I wouldn’t listen to comments that say otherwise.
You're just being modest, I know you didn't actually forget to tighten the hoses on the forklift, you were just flushing the fittings of any debris before final torque per manufacturer's spec. I personally like the narration. You're a knowledgeable and thorough guy and I appreciate the insight as to why/when/how you are doing things.
Hi Wes, I love the videos. Without talking how would we learn a few tricks of the trade. sadly you'll have to ignore the small percentage of ignorant people and keep doing what you do. we are drawn in, watch and subscribe to watch Wes work.
I can only agree that the narration adds a lot to the video. We are here because we like what you do, and when you are not telling us what you are doing it makes it harder to watch. Keep up the great work Wes!
Like it when you share the job verbally Wes, much more fun and interesting, those that think that Talking is to much they need to get a devise that has a mute and volume control...
@@donniebrown2896 👍'SHE' always has something to say....be it, 'you're doing it wrong, it's too small, too big, too wide, too narrow'....we all know SHE is always right, even when she's not...lol🤣🤣🤣👍🇦🇺
I watch your videos for the learning first and entertainment second. Really love the narration contrary to what some may say. Great job Wes. I love the fact that you are a gentleman to your family and customers. You have real class.
After watching wes work for a while now I realise how glad I am for Wes actually explaining etc. I work on heavy machinery myself and basically Wes knows a whole lot. Im REALLY and I mean REALLY glad he narrates.
Because I know so little about these things, I much prefer when you explain as you go. You have a great way of talking about what you do and sharing your knowledge. Either way, I still find it fascinating to watch.
Because some just love to complain. Ever been on a tech forum where the arm chair know it all's have decided they run the show? It doesn't matter how fact and reality based your info is. They will find a way to claim it's all invalid even if it has absolutely nothing to do with refuting anything you have said about an actual technical subject.
One of the attributes we humans possess that separate us from other bipeds is the ability to talk. We can easily transfer huge amounts of very detailed information to each other and entertain with talk. Some are very good at it, some not so much. You are one of the BEST on RU-vid with a perfect balance of info and esoteric humor at a very comfortable pace and demeanor. Let the complainers make their own vids the way they want and let's see how successful they are. The numbers would tell but we know they won't even attempt. Your making this vid says you listen and attempt to please which makes your channel a conversation instead of a regular video. You keep making the vids and we'll all keep watching, even the complainers.
Hello from Ireland, enjoying your videos quite a bit here! Regarding the non commentary on the forklift fix, i was able to follow what was being done while only having a VERY basic understanding of mechanics involved, and a little guess work on my behalf as to whats happening on screen. I think id prefer the commentary as i enjoy hearing your take on things and the step by step detailing you do throughout your work, and your thought process behind it. Your diagrams and explanations of systems are very helpful to the average joe soap like myself without an in depth knowledge of the mechanics involved! Thank you for the videos, keep up the good work and looking forward to more videos in the future!
Well first off I enjoy your rambling narrations, secondly I never realized Proto made v gullet angle wrenches and finally lets hope the puppy doesn't stick his head in there again. Good idea using TFE tape on the pliers.
The external mic does sound better and you're using the file wrong. I guess. I don't know. You told me to say it.... And my two cents on yacking, I prefer verbose mode. I think you say some funny shit.
No more silence. Your conversational style makes the videos enjoyable. Great save with the dog. You could tell that his body language was saying thanks Dad..
I feel your explanations are very helpful to me, I enjoy learning how things are supposed to be fixed or work. The silent is interesting but I like the education you give us 😊
Wes you are an excellent narrator. You talk and ask questions and move the camera as though we are assisting you. Someone is just jealous, because you do it so well!
Wes, it’s your channel, your work. You do what is good for you. Personally, I subscribed to the channel to increase my knowledge of mechanics, you’re my teacher man!! I need the talking/ explanations so I can learn. If there’s people that don’t like it, they can watch other stuff. You’re great at what you do, don’t change, keep it up!! Thank you!!
Oh man, so glad Max is ok after getting stuck in the fender well. Lucky he didn’t break his neck trying to pull his way out. You saved him in a nick of time. BTW, your narration is what makes the channel!
I enjoy your commentary. It made me realize that there is such a thing as a Midwestern point of view. I've now lived in Scotland for twenty years, but before that I lived in Michigan for fifty years. I miss the Midwest a little.
Yep. I'm working on fixing up a old International 300 Utility and half the hydraulics fitting are barely hand tight and the other half make up for it by being so over tight it takes a 24" wrench to break lose 1/2" hose fittings. That and apparently every hose that only needed to be 24" - 36" long had to have one at least 42' - 60"+ in its place and any hose that needed to be 40" - 76" long had to be made up of at lest 2 - 4 miss matched 18 - 36" pieces. Then to really make it all head scratcher. Any bolt that that anything pivoted on that was loose had to be welded (Baddly) in place rather than being replaced with a new one of the correct diameter and length.
@@tcmtech7515 Oh wow! That sounds like some of the stuff I've worked on in the past. Really makes you wonder what people were thinking when they did stuff like that...
@@kd5byb Oh it gets better! " When I had the new tires put on I had ~ 400 #'s of solution put in." BUT IT'S ALL IN ONE TIRE .......... W T F? HOW....... WHY!!!?????? Both tires were replaced at the same time. 😵😵😵😵🤯🤯🤯🤯 The previous owner had both rear tires set all the way and I needed them all the way in so I figured that the easiest way to move them was to just take them off the axles and switch them left for right. First tire assy was easy to take off and move around by hand. The second one needed a forklift to move. (same forklift holding up the tractor while both rear tires were off.) Beyond that, every lug nut and outer rim bolt was rusted solid in place (but still lose enough to not hold anything tight to what it was supposed to) and needed to be rethreaded to be usable enough to hold things in place until I can get to town tomorrow and get all new ones. That was not how I wanted to take 30 minute tire switch around and turn it into a 3+ hour hard labor job. 😋
Mind? Hell, I enjoy your commentary... learning is why I tune in. I’m not a mechanic but in the factories I’ve worked the mechanics were the guys I turned when problem solving quality failures... I love to hear you talk through the diagnostics, a systematic approach.
I have been a mechanic for 60 year Wes. I generally can fix anything. I like your talking. All the time any time you feel like. Please don't listen to people who are not mechanics that don't want to learn anything. It almost made me swear as I wrote this. Thank you Wes for explaining what you are doing. Please consider the guy who would tell you you are filing wrong to not be me.
Nice video! Seeing wiring jobs like that never fails to make me laugh! Also I think commentary is essential for learning something which is a big part of why I watch your videos. Well that and the humor. Keep it up!
Without you talking its like having a shop background noise simulator, I could play the video in a mother tab and feel like I'm at work, keep up the chatter Wes! Its good stuff
