Population numbers don't matter when considering social programs like this. The economy of scale makes it just as easy to make this in the US, which per capita is even richer than Finland. It needs more work, but there is also a lot more resources, so that scales out. "We are a bigger country" is a really bad excuse for not fixing fixable things.
I love your reactions and enjoy your perspective to new ideas and cultures, politics whatever. I agree with what you said about trying to speak different language, everyone should get points for trying and I love whenever a foreigner tries to speak Finnish to me, its hard to describe that feeling but its kinda humbling and really respectful to see someone try. And I kinda understand the view from people living in that situation with low self-esteem that they think they are living with just drug addicts, i've been in deep waters in my life and sometimes its easier to blame society and everything else so it becomes stigmatic and you only start seeing black and white. So I understand why she mentioned that houseful of drug addicts because its kinda what media would say about that situation to make it more dramatic or something like that but its far more complicated.
And in the US a homes/houses is seen like a convenience and business. Its not supposed to be a business or a way to make money its a right, a right to have a home. That needs to change before anything will get better.
Like aquelll said, it’s all proportional. If you got more taxpayers, you got more money. If you want to compare numbers take Minnesota (similar population), why couldn’t they implement something like this?
I always hear this population size argument, but The United States has 50 States, so you can just have these programs in One State at a time, or even one city at a time. The Federal State probably won't do much to change the homelessness problem, but a more local approach is definitely doable. The USA has the resources to do something about this, don't hide behind population numbers. Like your channel, Gio, keep at it! :)
