Bought my rifle from Roses dept store in NC many years ago. They had them in a galvanized trash can just standing there. 25 dollars per rifle. I bought only one. ***Kicking myself now****
I’ve had a strange fascination with WWII era Finland since learning a bit about Simo Häyhä, definitely not a part of the war most Americans know much about.
The M39 is the mercedes of all mosin nagants. But the Kar 98 K is amuch better designed and engineered peace of art. But the Finnish made this merc of a russian Lada. i own both and i like them both. for shooting with only sights the m39 is superior, since the sights are very well designed and the barrel is quite a bit longer. Both cartridges are still pretty good.
Newly subscribed! Loved this video! In my honest opinion, the Mosin was the finest rifle to come out o' WWII. Yeah, the Springfield M1903A4, Lee-Enfield 303 MK4, Mosin-Nagant 91/30 'n' the Kar98k are all great rifles. But the Mosin-Nagant M39 is the finest in me honest opinion. Despite the issues wi' the Mosin in general, it was still a great rifle. The Finnish just fixed those issues with the Mosin. So if I were to pick a rifle from that time, you can bet yer arse I'm pickin' a Mosin-Nagant M39 😆 Also, don't mind the way I spelled some words. I tend to write usin' phonetic spellin' 😆 Again, great video, mate!
@masonkemp6251 2nd, just behind the M1917 “American Enfield” and ahead of the M1896 Swedish Mauser. Now this is accuracy in my hands mind you, realistically the Swedish Mauser is probably the most accurate of the three but oddly I shoot it the worst of the three 🤷🏻♂️
@@GreatNorthwestWeaponry That's funny how that works. I remember that the Springfield M1903A4 (which is known for being very accurate and reliable) was modelled off the Swedish Mauser with some slight differences and the company that made the Springfield was sued by the company that made the Swedish Mauser. Any idea why ye might shoot the Swedish Mauser the worst out o' the three? Still, those are some amazin' rifles. I'm honestly impressed that the Mosin's in second place, let alone the top three ye've shot.
It’s 100% the sights that make me not as good with that rifle, both the Swede and the M39 are objectively more accurate than the M1917 but the peep sight on the 1917 is easier to get a fine bead with
The Mauser sights suck. I can't stand them anymore. I sold my last Mauser and bought a M39. I also love the Swiss K31 (I have two of them) and the sight set is similar to the M39's.
Always a Mauser over a Mosin but I have 2 M-39's that I think have better sights but you can't beat the action and also a rimless round over a rimmed one.. be well.
@@GreatNorthwestWeaponry , I have a bunch of Mausers and Not One has good sights even Swedish suck.... I can out shoot Mausers because of the M-39's sights even with milsurp ammo..... Except I do have a Yugo M-48a in .8mm that is basically a new rifle with a excellent bore that gets boring hitting steel at 200 yds.... Ya can't beat a German K-98 action like butter but Many of their bores are worn.....Sometimes I put on a S&K rear sight scope mount on good milsurp rifles because I can put it back into OEM in a few min.'s.. I have a 1928 Izzy Ex-Dragoon with a pistol scope that can hit 4 out of 5 steel at 300yds. with some Factory 188 ammo.... Too bad the Golden Age of Milsurps is over.... Our country is going into a very bad way now and only going to get worse with the current administration..... In NC gas is now $4.29 , NJ is $4.69 shortages on every shelf in food stores I feel by the end of the summer big cities will be rioting again.... Stock up on basic needs, meds. and have a bunch of .22lr.'s for your 10/22.... This guy has sold us out.... Be Well.
