you would be surprised how helpful neighbors can be. I had an upstairs neighbor knock on my door one day. I don't talk to anyone here, and I rarely am out and about. Turned out, he wanted to know if it was my garage just outside my unit. I said yes and he let me know he saw a large snake go in there under the door. He didn't know what kind of snake, but he knew it went inside and was big. Turned out after opening the door using the remote, I had 2 snakes in there all cuddled together right next to the door to my truck. If I did decide to go somewhere, i would have stepped right next to them with no idea they were there due to some cardboard scraps they were hiding under. Keep in mind this wasn't farmers helping farmers. This is in an apartment complex in San Antonio. Eventually pest control guy came and needed help with the snakes. Another neighbor helped him catch them even though he lives on the other side of the building upstairs. I met 3 neighbors in one day because they were concerned about a snake in my garage.

Gotta be thankful for such wonderful neighbors. The importance of having them can never be underrated. Having said all that, the most impressive display of lessening the spreading of the flames goes to Jeff and his fancy footwork. Glad to see it didn't get out of hand.

I remember when I was really young, early 1970's; Right at dinner time our neighbor called in a panic; their barn was on fire and she couldn't get hold of her husband who was in town getting feed. My Dad and one of my older brothers dropped what they were eating, ran out the door, jumped in our stock truck and headed to the fire. The neighbors two tractors were in the burning barn. They got one started and out of danger. The other one wouldn't start so they wrapped a chain on it and drug it out as the barn started to collapse. There weren't any animals in the barn. The neighbor followed the fire trucks out to his farm. Since he had no idea it was his barn on fire he was just following to see where it was. Once the fire trucks, and the neighbor got there my Dad and brother came home, ate dinner then went about their day. The neighbors were very grateful to my Dad and brother. Then again, this is farm country it's what we do; help each other.

Was a volunteer fireman and EMT while in college in Moscow Idaho. Fought a few field fires in stubble but no standing grain we and the farmers got it under control. One the old timers told me about a really bad field fire in standing grain during high winds. Multiple department and farm family. The fire jump one mile across a highway 95 road cut. It burned around 50,000 acres. Glad no one was hurt, equipment lost, and not much of the hay burned. It is nice that neighbors helped. I appreciate this channel and videos. It was out in no time thanks to the neighbors helping neighbors ethic in the farming/ranching community! It’s something I’ll never forget. When the fire was out, everyone came to the house where my grandma had a big pot of coffee, cold milk, and a variety of cookies and pies! Every one sat around and talked about the fire in order to bring their heart rate down I’m sure!!! I thought I was so lucky to have been out checking on cattle with my grandpa so I got to see the action!! So many teenagers were there too with their dads etc. and worked hard right next to the older men.

I'm wicked glad that you guys got on that fire so quickly, and the loss was minimal. Prairie fires / grass fires are just one more risk that comes with farming. I started a grass fire when I was bull cooking for a road construction outfit - didn't mean to, of course. Boss said to use a 45 gal grease drum for a burning barrel. I put the thing on a dirt pile, because I'm smart enough not to put in the grass area. I threw a bunch of garbage paper in and lit it. So proud of myself. What I didn't realize is that the residual grease would melt and become little rivers of fire running out of the vent holes I had punched in the bottom of the barrel. Of course, they ran into the dry grass with a strong wind blowing. The village and curling rink were down wind and here was me with a piece of plywood trying to fight it, and getting burned in the process. Luckily, there was a dozer nearby and someone with some smarts that knew what to do with it. He turned that fire back very quickly, and all was calm again. That's how I felt when I saw you guys go after that fire ... you knew what you were doing. No hand wringing, just kill that sucker. Yeah, well done guys.

Glad everything worked out and it didn’t do more damage than what it did.

This drought will have an affect on all of us. But you farmers mostly. Prayers are going up for rain for all of you up north. Are you deep breathing while you’re doing your exercises? It truly will help with the pain and healing. My nephews are firefighters. Take care all of you. Thanks for sharing. Hi Brian. Hi Jeff.

My least favorite part of ACL repair therapy is when my therapist would extend my leg and lean on the knee. Lol. Good thing she was cute, otherwise...well, I'd have cried. I think the doc cut the patella ligament short, and figured: "yeah, it'll stretch" SOB. LOL.

LOL I'm with you. I had a handsome 6'4" PT holding me up. I told him if it didn't hurt so much, I'd be wanting to dance.

I’m glad you guys finally got some rain on July 6. Looked like it rained most of the day! And maybe more tomorrow.

When I was a young lad we always had pairs of old jeans in 5 gallon buckets scattered about. Whackin the ground with a wet pair of jeans (hold from the bottom, use the waist area as a wet club) is a lot more effective then trying to stomp it out. Glad you guys caught it so quick and kept the damage to a minimum. Be safe.

This would be a good year to keep a full water tank, pump and hose loaded up and ready to go.

Your name in German means sun! I'm glad you were able to extinguish the fire before it went out of control. We have fires here in Rocky Mountain House Alberta Canada from idiots with cigarettes, or 4 wheeling or even the trains. So thankful for the neighbours assistance! In a small community people pull together in times of crisis. God Bless all of you!!!

Glad the loss wasnt much. Great to see neighbors are still out helping each other when needed no questions asked. I bet that while Brian continued to haul dirt his next purchase is going to be a solid used water tanker from the fire department auctions. Would be great to have on hand not for these situations, but for spray season as well.
