@@HalAnime2 More than just that.. as I understand it, museums have lots of great stuff, but have a hard time showing it off to the public. People like Jonathan doing social media outreach make a good example for what other museums can try for.
All games I want him to look at. I really want him to look at Post Scriptum and Hell Let Loose and compare them and say which he thinks does the guns better.
@@MrMarci878 That's how it should go with researchers, but unfortunately many tend to lie in order to appease whoever is footing the bill. The Large Hadron Collider has an infamous story of how the CERN scientists were asked if the discovery of the Higgs Boson "God Particle" would determine if God exists. Clearly the theory being tested had absolutely nothing to do with theology but they lied and said it did in order to ensure funding and interest. Its very similar to how global warming is propagated despite having zero scientific credibility and all predictions having been disproven over a course of over a century, and yet even people who aren't in the field of chemistry or meteorological science come out and propagate it simply because their universities pressure them to do so in order to maintain funding by governments. After all, no one cares about solubility of organic salts, but if you say it could mean the difference between survival or THE APOCALPSE, then you get the attention and priority of your government. It's just like the fountain of youth or alchemy, a lie propagated for the greater good. Supposedly.
@@mijisthebest If you are under 30 years old then you probably don't know about all the claims they made that never came to be. Tony Heller here on youtube has an excellent array of videos with all the sources you will need. He also goes back to decades of statistics to analyze exactly where the claims originated and when they stopped being accurate. The most obvious lie is the ozone hole. Any chemist knows that ozone is formulated by diatomic oxygen bonding together into ozone. The activation energy is obtained by UV ray exposure. Naturally this means if less ozone is in the atmosphere, more UV ray is emitted which leads to more ozone production. This is directly contradictory to the claim that carbon based gases create a permanent hole in the atmosphere which has never been seen, even with modern satellite imaging technology. Satellite imaging also debunked global warming. Note we call it climate change now because global warming was disproven as the world is not constantly heating, but heating and cooling in cycles, currently we are on a cooling phase.
@@vicecityrocks1 There is battlepacks you can buy for attachment customization. The only part is that they're a noob trap because if you put in ~400 kills you get everything anyways. It was during the microtransaction transition period and EA caught flakk for it until they backed off. Sadly people don't have good memories and EA has only gone even farther downhill.
Wasn't it an actual viable option first starting out, too? I remember either Westie or JackFrags or someone talking about it being a pocket sniper. Then when it was released to the wider community, Dice nerfed it to oblivion so that it was basically useless lol
@@SFxTAGG3 In the real world mare's leg is not practical, but not sure about it in game. I own a 44mag leg, but purely for it's aesthetic cause I love westerns.

This! He looks at a lot of guns, and shows the real ones, and talks about how they are coresct/incorect, but i would rather see a gunsmith look at them, and speak about how they work. Im noit an gunsmith, but at least some of them look like they would work

as someone from China, I would like to mention that the official government-issued QBZ/QBB family of rifles are not integrated with the Picatinny rail system, yet some police and military units are using Picatinny rail modified kits to convert their Type95s into Christmas trees
Well, from a realistic standpoint, this weapon was considered a next generation innovation. The spent brass was released into an upper tube within the rifle. After five spent casings filled the tube, the extra thereafter would be pushed out the front of the rifle making it completely ambidextrous, and completely noninvasive to the rest of your fire team shooting next to you.
@@kirbyis4ever I guess so, but after using a few bullpups, I tried to like them but I could never quite like the ergonomics. I also don’t understand why in BF the F2000 is more powerful than other 5.56 rifles.
It doesn't help that BF1 and BFV both dropped the ball on the BF3/BF4 game feel. BF1 is good in it's own right, and I'll give BFV the benefit of the doubt that it learned from it's mistakes. I think it's safe to assume that BF4 was the last truely great Battlefield title that the entire community can get behind. It's just sad that it's aging and casual players drop it for newer titles thinking newer = better. 2013, we haven't had that inital experience for 8 years. That's long enough to probably get a medical degree and to currently be looking into getting a certified practice, that's saying something.
@@AlfredFJones1776 Atmosphere, definitely. It has it's perks over BF4. BF4 has better gun play, better vehicles, better weapon classes (universal DMRs, carbines, and shotguns), and debatably better gadgets. Only thing BF1 has going for it is the game modes and atmosphere. Breakthrough is awesome, and "rush" isn't dead on that game. BF4 technically has better modes but now-a-days all you see is Seige and Locker 24/7 servers; while there is Verdun (Fort De Vaus(?)) 24/7 servers, the game is still alive outside of them.
I really wanted him to talk about the GOL magnum, unica6, AEK971, MPX,LSAT and the SRAW launcher. Would honestly love to see a part 2 to him reacting to bf4 weapons
Yes and the AN-94 with its 2-shot hyperburst (wich is in the game). He even has one in the backround just sitting there but they didnt talk about it :(
@@Ch4pp13 Launchers and shotguns aren't that fun as they mostly ruin the fun for other players. - EDIT Realizing how stupid this sounded now since I wrote it really late, I meant to say something entirely different as I use shotguns all the time.

I know, right? It's driving me crazy. I love this series, but they've done enough BF for the moment. Do the Rising Storm or Red Orchestra series! Any of them!
can i just say how much i respect and appreciate Jonathan's work here? like, man is put to watch videos of various videogames multiple times so he can get the details and he clearly pays close attention to detail. that's a thing i can call as him being fully professional specially with how he does it Such is just well, really nice. And that he has this way of explaining things that makes it so pleasant. he isn't stiff and explains things at just the right speed. the way he sneaks in funny comments and how he takes even the silly weapons he is asked to see with a straight face and gives it a full check i just, love the work of this man, i hope his museum is doing great cause he deserves it.
Thank you! I only get one chance to watch the clips, but if I have time and it's a game I haven't played I will look up what's in so that I can find some suitable objects to show, and in the process get a heads-up on what to expect.
@@jonathanferguson1211 i wasn't expecting a response from the man himself, fascinating to know the process from the one who is put to do the work i respect what you do and i love seeing you breakdown and explaining the things you are put to examine and display, thank you for your work on these videos
@@drewnames651 No problem. The most fun ones to do are where I haven't played the game or had time to look anything up ahead of time. But then I'm apt to say something daft :)
@@jonathanferguson1211 Back in 2014/15 BF4 had a Community Test Environment (ongoing public beta sort of) and during that time I got the chance to work with one of DICE LA's animators on polishing up a bunch of weapon authenticity details (correcting reloads, mag capacities, cartridges used, even a couple weapon names) so seeing someone of your calibre looking through all this stuff all these years later is incredibly satisfying haha. Huge fan of this series you've been doing, and I hope to see you do something with Ian from ForgottenWeapons again sometime too. :)
You guys should do more guns from BF4 like the 2013 AK-12, AEK-971, AN-94, MBT LAW, FGM-172 SRAW e other weapons that aren't that common in other games I would love to see that
Yeah I think it was a gameplay balance choice as much as anything, you don’t want to give people a weapon they can one shot enemies behind cover with . .
More like Splinter Cell SC2000. Halo AR was based around it, but tbh, varies a lot in design. Instead, The Halo Sniper has a much better resemblance in the Denel NTW 20.
I went to the range near where I live and there were some national guard guys there, one had the master key shotgun under his M4. He found a live shotgun shell, loaded it up and fired. I was right next to him and could feel the blast from the gun going off move through my chest. Was pretty cool honestly
@@Grinch556 Also the blast you feel when standing next to a 12ga being fired isn't much different than a 5.56, unless it has some crazy muzzle brake on it.

Today I made my donation to the Royal Armory Museum and for Jonathan of 25 pounds. They have such a grand collection of historical equipment and weapons that I want to see when it is safe to travel again. We all got to help each other out these times. It is not restricted to one country the generosity and it makes a difference. Love hearing your expertise Jonathan in these videos!🤩 I have a deep love and passion for history and war/weapon history since middle school. So that adds more joy seeing Jonathan on these weapons in games and likely going to buy his book to read too.
Back in BF4's CTE days (and a bit before) I had the pleasure of working with one of DICE's animators and one of their gameplay guys on fixing and improving a massive amount of the weapon authenticity and attention to detail stuff, so it's really satisfying to see someone as knowledgeable (and all-round nice guy) as Jonathan look through some of them. We got a ton of "small" stuff fixed like reload timings and save points, or the default paint on the AK-12/ACE families and similar removed, but also bigger stuff like changing the calibres (JS2 from 5.8mm / 50 rounds to 9mm / 30 rounds comes to mind) or mag capacities (QBB-95 to 75 rounds like we see in this video, 93R to 15, U-100 to 30, CS/LR4 to 5, etc), and even getting a couple of them renamed (which has to go through Legal). This is why the "RPK-74M" and "L96A1" were corrected to "RPK" and "L115", respectively, with the matching calibre and mag size fixes. :)
Metal Gear in general has a lot of good stuff ripe for this series. I remember watching a tour of Kojima’s old studio and there was like a pile of props-everything from rocket launchers to a giant claymore sword.
I still play battlefield 4 occasionally. I always loved the bullet drop feature, because while a bit exaggerated at times, it makes sniping a hell of a lot more difficult and rewarding than in a game like Call of Duty.
The _Mare's Leg_ is a decent secondary in Hardcore, where its scope and little muzzleflash and rather quite sound make it a decent mid-range concealment sniper. But thats might be more working around the weaknesses than exploiting its potential. It was fun though.
I remember having a lot of fun with the Mare's Leg while I was using a run-and-gun setup but still needing something to counter snipe and humiliate. Hoping Battlefield 6 brings that kind of fun back.
Has Gamespot/Jonathan done this with R6S yet? I know it's another modern military setting but there are a few interesting weapons as well like Finka's spear. And maybe Jonathan can also comment on some of the gadgets?
The Marlin underlever. 44 is the same model I own, it came in the stainless Alaskan style with big lever loop for operating with gloves/mittens, but the rectangular lever is the standard fitted and very hard on the fingers (I've para wrapped mine for speed shooting). Watched a few of these vids with Jonathan and thoroughly enjoying
About the mtar-21 As an active service man in IDF The so called mtar is actually called x-95 by iwi Still used today the same version you see in the game Some battalions do received the upgraded version but still the "old" version still being used Great weapon for CQB missions but also good on effective range of 250 meters in open combat
That perception of very pronounced bullet drop on snipers is indeed actually happening not just a perception. It’s happening because the devs make the snipers bullets drop at a rate higher than earths gravity in real life. Gravity’s force is equivalent to ~9.81 meters per second, whereas the snipers in bf4 had a drop rate of ~15 meters per second (barring a couple exceptions like the FY-JS which I think had something like 8m/s bullet drop). As well as lower mussel velocity from their real life counterparts.
You know a gun is rare when the guy who helps run the Royal Armories has NEVER seen the real thing before lol And I will always appreciate that Jonathan thinks about game balance when some things are not quite as accurate as they could be
Like Ian from ForgottenWeapons, he's the best sort of expert you can hope for in any field. Humble and willing to admit to not knowing things, and also understanding of why certain liberties are taken in media and such.
Would love to see Jonathan react to DayZ weapons. Repairing weapons with duct tape/using a bottle as a suppressor or having frequent jams based on the weapons condition
2:36 Reason for the high bullet drop is that snipers in BF4 have a 15m/s^2 rate of fall, much more than the 9.81m/s^2 in real life. For balancing purposes, I would assume.
As for the QBB - 95 - 1 ( Chinese Type 95 ), check with any of your Canadian friends as well. A small number of civilian versions had been imported there, iirc. Thank you to Jonathan at The Royal Armouries.
