I just spent an hour reading up on this guy. I almost never say this. THIS guy, former Greensboro Police Captain Charles Cherry, is/was a good cop. THAT is why he was fired. He may have still been an ass on the street, which I hope and pray is not the case, but he tried to fix some corruption in his department. Charles Cherry, my hat is off to you sir.

Their is never an issue with using the proper medical term for an anatomic bodypart. He did not use a fowl term. Just like the term breast. The left breast pocket is the pocket over your heart. The meetings are open to the public. Kids are part of the public. Here's a thought for the council members: you do not have the authority to censure anyone discussing material matters in a public meeting. When children have questions regarding legitimate issues, be a parent! Find a way to explain what is being discussed into terms that have raised a child's curiosity.

The goal was to make council uncomfortable. I remember seeing this on TV that night. He spoke every city council meeting making them uncomfortable until he got what he wanted. He could have used even more explicit language involving those acts.

The officer has legitimate concerns, and I support what he was trying to do here. However, he was out of line with his language! He obviously has no class, and will not be taken seriously as long as he pulls stunts like that.
I think everyone except maybe the mayor is missing the only significant angle to this, and that is the one the FCC would look at this from. Obscene material can't be publicly broadcasted, period. That being said, his speech obviously wasn't obscene, the only criterion it might meet is being patently offensive. What it would be ruled as is profanity, since basically, all it takes is for people who hear it feel uncomfortable. IMHO, the lady is just too PC, his description of reality carries a "shock factor" and her first response is to close her eyes block her ears and pretend she didn't hear it instead of looking to deal with the actual problem. But the simple fact that she is offended, in all likeliness, is all it takes for his speech to be deemed profane (as being "grossly offensive"), and broadcasting profane content in those hours can get the FCC coming down on you, usually with warnings then heavy fines, but they do have the authority to pull station licenses. It's why "live broadcast" isn't "as short as possible from tape to air" but deferred by a delay of several seconds so the network's s&p ppl can allow for emergency bleeping and mosaicing.
First, little kids shouldn't watch this meeting on tv and/or be there listening when adult issues are being talked about! Clearly, these meetings are not set in place to talk about rainbows and butterflies, they're for dealing with problems, and serious issues that people have with city pertaining to public officials, police, taxes, city officials getting really big raises when they don't do shit to earn that much money in the first place and get them at our expense in raising our taxes!And second, he has a Right to free speech and to address his concerns and grieves toward the actions of criminal behavior of their law enforcement and city leaders! When seditious criminals gain governmental positions, of course they do not want their crimes and the crimes of their subordinates discussed. The solution is to stop the crimes, and it is not to stop the discussion of the crimes. The professional class and families (who become rich and millionaires by causing poverty, suffering and death) (and who think that they are superior people with superior rights, social, economic and otherwise), have a very disturbed and distorted mental configuration. My big mouth and trips to the courthouse--not to council for I hate wasting trips--got me the Greensboro Police Department at Valley Hills Mall, the Newton Public Library and Patrick Beaver with residuals at the gym. What the Department does in District 3 is illegal and well-known by Justin Outling's empty brain and probably every single person that lives there; the Department's reputation hasn't gotten any better, I've lived other places and have never had problems with the police like I had in Greensboro and that includes Jacksonville where we were "inebriated" as often as possible (I would say "drunk" but enough people have been offended).
Now how funny is all this? When a cop does something horrible these "council" people will do and say whatever they must to support, defend, and protect that officer. But when an officer stands up against corruption, they will do and say whatever they must to shut him up. You dont have to be a brain surgeon to figure it out. Just watch serpico.
