Hey all, recently I decided it was time to add some airbags to the rear suspension of the Tundra to help with any sag while hauling heavyweight. I went with the Firestone Airbags and some Daystar Cradles to help with suspension travel. We drove 900 miles with them fully loaded down and the ride was great. Thanks for watching and please subscribe and hit the thumbs up it really helps the channel grow.

Exactly what I'm looking to do to my tundra. Like you, I'm also running a topper with gear is keep in the truck so my truck sits dead level even with my lift setup. want to add abit of rake back to the rear end. That little air pump is awesome and so convenient.
@828findadventure
@828findadventure 2 года назад
Thank you . The airbags with the cradles will lift the rear .75” and I run about 18 psi in the bags. Rides great even when loaded down. I use that pump about every four weeks to check the air pressure and store it in my door pocket. Thanks for commenting.

@@828findadventure That's just about what lift I'm trying to achieve. I was thinking adding shackles for more lift but I already have the icon leaf pack. I'm planning to run the bags around 10 when I get the with the way I have my truck setup right now. With more gear I plan to add down the road Ill bump it up if need be. Appreciate the help.

In addition to what the other guy said about the top plate allignment, your mechanic installed the lower leaf spring mount plates upside down.

Thanks for the video. I just installed the same kit on my 2019 TRD pro. Sorry to tell ya but your installer put your top plates on 180 degrees out. Thats creating the poor alignment to your cradles. The bags should sit to the inside of the frame. The top plates will be flush with the inside of the frame. Yours are 1" to the outside. Hope that helps. The firestone directions were absolute junk.

@steelerfancal how does it ride with airbags I just pickup 2019 trd pro was considering airbags
@Steelerfancal
@Steelerfancal 2 месяца назад
@brotherjoeyt811 rides great. Didn't change the ride at all. You can keep factory height with almost any load or trailer. I use a small 18v compressor to adjust. I keep 10lbs in the bags unloaded. 50lbs with a 10,000 30ft toy hauler with a side by side Ln the back. Handles better than my last GMC 2500 HD.

What's the purpose of the cradle and is it really necessary? Did rear pads on my 07 today and noticed bump stop was hanging by a thread so I yanked it off, also noticed the other side was already gone... 😅😅😅😅 Was thinking of getting air bags so I'm glad to have seen the bump stops aren't needed so I'm glad I didn't replace em. TY for the vid. 👍😊

The cradle is for alignment of the airbag when flexing the suspension while driving off road. Thanks for watching.

Yes, I have the Firestone Airbags and I also bought some cradles. You only need cradles if you go off-road. Thanks for commenting.

Thanks!! Did the the bracket for the shrader valves come with the kit or was it purchased separately? Good video-appreciated!!

That bracket came separately. It was just a random joining plate that had two holes in it I didn't have to drill. It was similar to this but made of steel. www.tnutz.com/product/cb-015-e-black/

So I currently bought a 2018 trd sport with 13k miles but I noticed it’s a jittery ride and some vibration is that normal?
@828findadventure
@828findadventure Год назад
Absolutely not. It depends on the lift, the alignment, the Wheel balance, or the age of the tires. A Tundra, especially that new should drive really smooth. It will be your favorite vehicle for travel. Thanks for commenting.

The airbags are not leaking. As air get colder outside the pressure naturally goes down. I check them once a month. Thanks for commenting.

Does your truck have a lift?
@828findadventure

Only in the front using Bilstein 5100s on the highest perch. My truck came with the towing package so the back set up high. The airbags with cradles lift the rear .75 inches. Thanks for asking.

Can't you tell that the cradle isn't mounted in center with the airbag? Did a shop do this install for you?
@828findadventure
@828findadventure 2 года назад
I noticed that but sometimes it looks center and sometimes it does not. It could possibly be from axel flex on uneven ground? What are your thoughts and thanks for commenting?
@albowrx
@albowrx 2 года назад
@@828findadventure Is it on both sides the same way? My understanding is that the load on the airbag should be centered and not off-centered as it is currently, or you'll run into premature damage. Did you install it yourself? I guess the only way to find out for sure is to find the straightest possible road and test it that way. I was going to suggest if the camera is also distorting the image too?
@828findadventure
@828findadventure 2 года назад
@@albowrx I definitely notice the off-center look when parked on a hill. I will check into it and have it adjusted if needed. I assume if the cradles weren't there it would not matter. Now my OCD is going to kick in. LOL

What PSI do you run these at? And what is max PSI?
@828findadventure
@828findadventure Год назад
I run 15psi unloaded to level out the truck, and 22psi when loaded, but that depends on the load. I try to keep the vehicle level with no rake at all times so I adjust the PSI accordingly. I do not know the Max PSI.

You are not the first to say that. I took it back to the installer and asked and got nowhere. I might have to do it myself. I mostly blame the cradles, but besides that, they have worked great this whole year. Thanks for commenting, and if you haven't please subscribe for more truck videos.

Why not just take the bump stops off
@828findadventure
@828findadventure Год назад
I thought about that and asked. They said it wasn’t necessary. Yes it would look cleaner, but you can’t see them once the airbags are installed. I also assume that once removed your OE Ubolts would extend a little further down. Not really an issue. Thanks for commenting.

They have a slight arch when the bed is unloaded. Carrying 300-500 pounds all the time might be the reason, but the ride quality is still great.
