We are back with more portals! Brenan of Trail4R.com brought us his 2023 4Runner to cut up and install the first set of 74 Weld portals for this application. Follow along as we have unbox all the goodies and have fun along the way.

??.. 4runner,,looks like a 300 series toyota.. garbage.. here in aus.. why you using ausie parts.??..when theres sooo many manufacturers over there.. arb are expensive over built. not needed.. ronny dahl, had arb lockers,, destroyed his axles, moly. nothing wrong with a detroit.. portal axles, not needed.. ifs, rubbish.. the nissan 62, break cv,s. all day...@@stellarbuilt

Do you plan on doing a portal kit for the toyota hilux and Ford ranger? They tend to be the most popular 4wd platform in New Zealand.

Lots of stress on independent suspension with portals. Imagine a panic stop, it will create a lot of leverage on the control arms.

LS garbage, have build problems.. 2j, not needed. a good 4.2tdi, is all you need.. without a computer.. like my mwm sprint. s/duty.. 700nm.. 4.2tdi..

I was curious if it would make more sense to just get new lower arms that move the tire forward? that kit that you cut everything off looks like a ton of work. Just curious?

True, custom arms can shift your wheel forward, but you don't have any adjustability, and more importantly in this case, you won't get the beefy mounting points the JD kit provides. The combination of these two is what makes the JD kit the optimal choice for the portals.

What is the total lift to clear the 37s?, and do they have kit for s GX470?

It’s about 4 inches of lift for the portals. This kit should work on a GX

We love our solid axle swaps and do them all the time, but portals have their own set of benefits. One of the main ones being maximum ground clearance.

We were REALLY shooting to upload the video today, but we are going to have to push it back until after the weekend. Doing alignment and buttoning things up today, and we want to wrap Part 2 up with some good eye candy and testing it out.

why not? They saved on the "TRD PRO" and went with SR5 to actually make it outdo the "PRO"

@@Baebon6259 I never said start with a pro, that would be silly if changing the suspension. An Off-Road or ORP would have been better because you're getting a rear locker and A-Trac (essentially a front traction device..ish).
