Yes Tim, my dad was one of the Ilocanos who migrated to Hawaii that year. He was 16 years old, but there were no commercial airplanes yet. He was aboard the ship.
My wife and I are building a house with a Guest House about a mile or so from Viven hotel on the South edge of San Nicolas and we will be leaving Kansas City and arriving there in Mid May. 😀😀😀
Welcome to my province , Ilocos Norte!! Yes Tim my 2 uncles and grandfather all went to Hawaii help plant/harvest sugar cane and pineapple in the 1920's, 30's. Have fun? Try our Ilocano food and desserts.
Hey bro, great job on this latest set of videos. Makes me want to go North. It has been a while. Tired of California and need a different pace. Take care, be safe
Hey Gidday Tim Finally you are visiting our 2nd home, Illococ Norte, Laoag City in particular Sarrat which very close history ties sister towns Hope you enjoy this area as much as l do my Filipina wife and l built in Sarrat 2022 during Covid as visited there Dec 2022 ❤ I recommend you try this food empanada and garlic ilocos Longganisa Yes you pronounced Pagudpud correctly
My fiancee and I stayed in the Vivien Hotel in May, nice but small. The Shakey's pizza next door was awesome. Chelseafaye Guesthouse was great to stay there, big rooms big house. We went to Ft Ilocandia Beach just southwest of Laoag airport where Tom Cruise filmed the beach scenes of Born on the Fourth of July. The "Look back..." I broke necks in Laoag also...lol Filipina 's love white guys! My fiancee's brother works at a gas station South of the mall. I'll watch your next videos as always. Go to Pagupud, Claveria, and Sanchez Mira. Nice hotel in Sanchez, the Baggak Hotel. Eat at Komedor ni Ka Edong restaurant. Good luck Tim!
(sings) Big guy little coat. hahah. That would be me trying to hop into that little bike let alone trying to climb out. Thanks for sharing. Love your videos.
I really do miss packing myself into a trike and zipping around town. The only thing funner is on a motorcycle. Many years ago I use to stand on the outside step of a jeepney. Now that was exciting!
$2 dollars tip man that’s awesome that’s what I love Philippines sometimes but sometimes I get tired in the Philippines when I was there so I keep flying around Asia to see something new and different people and culture
Dear Tim, really sorry I didn't watch your vids in the last months. But being fed up with other travel RU-vidrs which are getting weird and stupid, losing their initial point. It was really great to watch your northern Philippines trip. This is the right content, not the guys arguing for a trip on a horse payment, or those around pyramids showing us the scammers just for the sake, or asking on a red street how much per night the girls get paid. Fk that. We need proper content, like yours. Cheers mate. All the best to everyone.
Nice video Tim. You seem much more like your normal affable self now that you’re back in the Philippines. Congratulations on using the word “flummoxed” in a proper sentence, very impressive! 😂 Have a nice trip and ride safely my friend.
Our next trip to Manila, we plan on renting a SUV 4x4 and driving it to Luzon Northernmost Point and The Blue Lagoon with stop over in La Union. I will be watching to see how your trip goes. Drive careful and be safe.
A VERY good price for the cycle driver, saw that one coming but you are so big, he was worried about the wear on his machine. I'm surprised you could fold up enough to get in. Lets go see what you can see.
Hey Tim and Chrissy. You are here in Laoag! Wow that's amazing. How long will you be here? Love to meet you both. I'm here in Laoag. Let me know when you both are available. ❤
Because you forced Roger to get the front desk involved (to make change) he couldn't accept your tip. If no one knew about it he would have taken it in a heartbeat. They're probably not allowed to accept tips.
That's what I like about Tim, he doesn't haggle to poor working Filipinos. "200? sounds good to me" means a good tourist. Some haggle it to the point that the driver is almost break even.
You being that tall of a dude reminds me of also being 'squeezed' into those tricycles..... they are very convenient, but not very comfy. 200p you had to pay? And what was the distance? When I was last year in Negros Occidental I paid usually 110p going from Sagay to Old Sagay, distance roughly 5km.
How'd that tow strap work out for you Tim? :) Whatever you end up using to secure your backseat luggage, make sure there's no loose straps flapping around. Sounds obvious, but I had a cheap, big bike saddle bag that I neglected to inspect and a strap got caught in the rear tire(yamaha R6), pulled the bag and trickle charger down between the tire and swing arm. Locked up my rear tire at high speed. "Lucky" to be alive. Dumb lesson I learned. Not implying you're as dumb n careless.
you are very smart to travel so much BUT I THINK it will be difficult to live for you in phillipin I am old and i think that i couldnt live in phillipin
I have an off-topic question. I will be flying back to the United States. Out of Cebu on the 25th. I have been here seven months and know that I need an exit visa. Can I get that at the airport on the day of flying or do I need to get it in advance?
I'm pretty sure over 6 months you need to go to the nearest immigration office 3 days before and get a clearance certificate. I've never had to do it as I'm a permanent resident and not necessary for me.
