This was a very good overview, really useful, covered real-world useability in a way that other reviews haven't, so thanks. Good to see the I-Pedal being used in proper driving.
I've been waiting for a UK test drive review so many thanks for this. I have the 4 on order and am waiting for my dealer to get their test car delivered. Cheers.
It actually does tell you when you’re using less than the max i-Pedal setting. On the dash, in the bottom of the right-hand dial, there’s a little tick mark that lets you know the setting, up to the maximum (which is i-pedal). I just purchased the EV model and I love it!
Good Job! I have EX version in order. Dont know what is UK version of that but we have LX, EX, Business Luxury and Business Premium here in Finland. Cant wait to get mine🙃
Extremely good efficiency considering it was only 17°C outside. I test drove one last Thursday and found the reflection of the central speakers on the dashboard had a very annoying reflection up onto the windscreen which could have been dangerous in certain circumstances. It was nice to see two routes that I know reasonably well being used as the test routes so I can attest to the steepness of some of the roads between Torquay and Exeter.
Just got my Niro EV in orange flame and trim 4. Of the around 15 cars I have driven for longer periods of time its the most satisfying experience ever. I've built up from hybrid over plug-in hybrid to what cars should always have been: electric. I foresee a great future for this car.
My key beef with it is that having done a major makeover on the car they haven’t bothered to upgrade the DC charging to 150 kW. That would be something fairly easy to do so I think that’s really fairly ordinary
I very happily own a 2-month-old Kia Niro hybrid after having bought the Kia ev6 and returning it in horror! There are almost no fast charge facilities in eastern North Carolina whatsoever. And fast charge is slow compared to getting gas.
2:14 Scuse ignorance but is it set up on a diff platform to the 70plate hybrid? I loved that car, especially the ride height- is the ride height same or lower or higher do you know than that? Tia
I test drove the new Niro EV also in the basic 2 trim yesterday. I agree the handling and ride are a slight improvement on my e-Niro 4 but overall I was underwhelmed by the experience. I truly hate the analogue speedo that replaces the clear digital display. Why have a speedo that goes up to 160mph making reading the small arc between 50 and 70mph difficult to read when driving. The lack of regeneration mode indication was noticeable and I could not find the I-Pedal mode. I found the thicker steering wheel difficult to find a comfortable hold. After a very enjoyable 75 mile drive home in my e-Niro 4 via Speyside in the Highlands, I phoned the dealer this morning to cancel my Niro EV 4 order. The changes over what I describe as the best car I have owned in 45 years of driving are just not justifiable in terms of enjoyable and cost.
In the new niro ev you have the analogy speedo and you can also see at the same time the digital display too. I, ve my new niro ev since past 2 of August and I am very happy with the experience for the moment. In this few time passed the car has 1.500 km.
I was thinking the same thing as you regarding the analog speedo but from other videos it looks like you can change it to digital in the setting under dynamic theme (or something named like that).
That was my experience too. Smooth test drive in the new Niro EV but the upgrades were underwhelming and needed to think was the extra £240 a month after trading in on my 2020 E Niro 4+ worth it ? On completion of the new Niro EV test drive, returned the car and after a little thought, I cancelled my Niro EV order. Pity I really wanted to like this car but it's too expensive and not a big move forward over the previous model. Looking forward to the EV4 or Ionic 4 arrival in 2023.
Even without I pedal on, the majority of braking through the brake pedal will only use the electric motor to slow you down. The physical brakes only come in at the very end to bring you to a stop. You have to really stand in the brakes to get them to engage at higher speeds.
6:09 Sorry to myder I’m thinking of getting one - iPedal- or lower regen levels- when you take foot off and regen kicks in do the brake lights come on? Without pressing the brake, when you release foot off accelerator do the brake lights come on? Always wondered - had diff answers ? Thanks
It’s been a month so you probably no the answer but I’ll answer: yes, I was able to see the brake lights go off in the reflection of the car behind me and I pressed the accelerator.
I can't agree with you as I found it very uncomfortable after 30 miles. I also found the noise from the tyres was very noisy. The heating controls are crap and I can't wait to get back to a normal car preferably a diesel one where I can fill it up within 2 minutes and will take me over 600 miles. the regenerate positions are terrible
Nice video. Too much torque on the previous version, but this looks much better. It's a family car.. so most people won't be wanting to make their passengers puke up as they go round every corner!
@@Banyan314 You know I'm kidding. The reviewer keeps implying the older Niro was some sort of hair on fore hot hatch (and sub 7seconds to 60mph is nice) - so it's a good thing they tamed it. Not so much.
@@anxiousappliance i tested the new niro. it went from 0 to 62 mph in 7.3 seconds. Its well rounded family car or a great car if youre bigger than the average human(like me. im 1,92 metres and 110 kg(6 feet 4 and 243 pounds)
@@anxiousappliance one reason they cut it is because it was proved to do a burn off (release smoke from the wheels) when you floored it. It must be healthier for the tyres or something
Certainly the Niro EV would drive acceptably based on nothing more than seat-of-the-pants, but you might consider why the 30% reduction in torque is a blanket derating rather than applying only outside of Sport mode?
@@koek1122 mines on business lease haven't had my car for 2 months haven't had courtesy car for 3 weeks they had to go enterprise to get me a car and that's fucking shit. Kia told me 1 year before I get my car back Kia is fucked.
