I truly believe that in order to be our strongest we must stand by our weaknesses. Showing vulnerability and transparency is without a doubt the most important thing for me to do, when I share my journey with you guys. It’s my greatest hope that you enjoyed watching this video. Maybe you learnt something from it or found it somewhat useful in any way. If so, then we both succeeded. I will continue to push myself and keep you guys in the loop. It’s not easy to cut down 7 days into a somewhat decent video. But I didn’t feel like I could leave out any part of it. Thank you once again for making this a safe space for me to share this part of my life with you. Now you tell me your goals and let’s achieve them together xx

Being transparent and open about recovery is the best thing to do! Once you begin hiding it is when the inner voice comes back. Letting people around you know whenever you’re going through the hardest times with that inner voice, and let them into your life to help you fight it alongside your side! Stay safe! Bliv ved med at tro på dig selv, og få opbakning fra kæreste og familie, og jeg er sikker på, at det kun kan gå opad bakke! Ikke den korteste bakke i verden, men toppen nås i sidste ende! Det lover jeg dig Katherina! 🙌🏼🙏🏼

I would recommend taking a break from exercise as someone who almost lost their life to anorexia a couple of years ago. It allows your body some room to repair damage and helps your mindset
@katharinaschneiderr
@katharinaschneiderr Год назад
I truly understand your advice. Thank you xx but as mentioned in the video, it’s not possible for me to stop. Because then, when I return to exercising, I won’t be able to control it. it’s personally better for me to learn to control myself and not overdo it - but get a healthy perspective on it. Hope you understand :)
@helena003
@helena003 Год назад
I get what you are saying but I feel like it’s a trick the mind plays on you, continuing to do it rather than knowing you are able to stop means you will never be mentally free, really if your body is struggling it would actually be healthiest to repair it a bit before breaking it down through exercise. You are determined, I believe you would be able to keep it under control if you took a break and slowly reintroduced it. I would also like to add that thee things re hard to hear and you are being absolutely mature and lovely about them I really appreciate that xx you are an amazing person and you deserve the best including full recovery. I’m sure you will get there! Xxxx

@@katharinaschneiderr okay just make sure you ask yourself before each time you exercise, why am I doing this? Do I want to do this because it’s fun or do I also want to change or maintain the way I look? Do I really feel like doing this right now? Am I exercising because I ate something that made me feel guilty? Do I feel guilty for not exercising?If there is even an ounce of Ed motive in there then don’t do it , this is how you train your mindset ❤️

first time on this channel and I am blown away by the amazing community that has been created here, truly. everyone is so helpful and sharing positive vibes only, so I thought i'd do the same! I absolutely loved this video, especially how raw and vulnerable you were. I've had my own disordered eating struggles but was "lucky" enough to have my body send physical sings very early on in the process... terrible acne, period loss right away, crippling pain. back then I hated that my body was smart enough to warn me so soon, but I am so incredibly grateful for it now. I wanna let you know that it does get better, but you really have to push yourself, and I loved seeing just that in this video. I am now very invested in your journey and I cannot wait to see you grow in front of my eyes. wishing you the best of luck girl. you got this! lots and lots of hugs from Amsterdam.

when you came out of the doctor's office crying and said "It destroys me how I've destroyed myself" I felt so sad yet so connected to you. I, too, struggle with anorexia and exercise compulsions and am in treatment to recover. I have been going in the wrong direction and although I feel functional and my labs are normal, I am in a scary place. I don't recognize myself. My parents think residential ED treatment is the only answer but this would be my third time going...clearly something isn't working. I need to gain weight but eating more/following my meal plan's high intake on top of cutting out exercise is proving to be a monumental task. regardless, please keep documenting your journey to healing as it is inspiring to me. your vulnerability is beautiful

I know how it feels when every doctors appointments ends in tears and you feel so ashamed of yourself for getting to such a bad place without even properly realising. I'm so proud of you for every step towards recovery you took in this video, and that you continue to take each day. Its so so so hard, one of the hardest things you'll probably have to do in your life but my oh my will it be worth it. I've been in recovery for a year now and its a very slow process, good days and bad days, sometimes it feels like you're going backwards but then you look at the bigger picture and eventually see how far you've come and thats the motivation to keep going. I also find it really hard to stay on top of eating on days that I'm working, but I pack lots of nut muesli bars to keep me going! It goes without saying, but you're so strong to be filming all of this and uploading it. You are going to help so many people around the world, including myself. Thank you

I would say its very difficult to recover whilst still exercising and gyming. When you are under nournished your body will have a hard time building muscle as all that energy needs to go into body repair from years of chronic depletion and stress and to fuelling and renourishing your organs to fully function. Working in ED clinics and having recovered myself, exercising like this is just not really part of the neural rewiring that needs to happen during recovery- removing the negative correlation and connection between body, food and exercise. Good luck with this, just some food for thought. I support you all the way.

You’re absolutely right, I don’t argue with you. It would be the best physically to stop completely: but Personally I just find that this is what worts the best for me in order to build a healthy relationship with exercising it general - and mindset too. Restricting myself completely is only going to result in a relapse to compulsive and excessive exercice. I know this because that’s what happened in the past when I was at an inpatient unit. And I don’t want it to happen again xx

Processed foods and high sugar ice cream won’t help you gain healthy weight, that’s actually a trigger food. Raising your blood sugar and insulin without anything to balance that right before back is insane. How about engaging a holistic health expert? Sugary foods are part of addiction, dear, pls reevaluate your choices, your addiction is fueling your choices and not helping you gaining HEALTH.🤯🙏

People don’t talk about exercise in recovery enough and how addictive it can be. Maybe because society sees it as being ‘healthy’. I went cold turkey because of my therapist and then I ran for hours after a month of nothing because I couldn’t maintain the habit of not running for any longer. At that point I was underweight and so needed to gain weight as well. Still recovering from bulimia, but I’m not addicted to exercise anymore. You’re amazing! Keep going!

I'm in almost the exact same position as you right now (seriously it's eerie how much eating disorder-related thoughts/behaviors/weight etc. we have in common...). For so long I've being trapped by my eating disorder and last week I got so fed up that I decided I needed to actually do things differently--I've made many changes and have already seen improvements (my mood has been SO much better). It's certainly not easy and I'm constantly conflicted and confused, but I've never been more committed than I am now (hoping my determination lasts as inevitable physical changes come :( ). It's encouraging to see someone else experience the same things as me--we got this! Thank you for the motivation and vulnerability!

I do notice how much happier I feel too! It's insane! But food is fuel for your brain to allow yourself to feel happiness, literally, so it's not that strange :') I'm so sorry to hear about your struggles as well.. But I'm glad to be helping you in the right direction! xx

i am so happy you posted this. though i havent struggled with an official ed , i did struggle with my overall relationship with food. when i was 12 my whole family was telling me that everything i eat now (growing stage) will affect me forever so i should be careful to not overeat so that i dont end up overweight. I didn't really believe them at first but then i did start gaining and so i started somewhat restricting and then eating high calorie addictive foods at night. Which was not helpful clearly. I didn't think at that time , like i wasnt restricting nor binging on purpose it just kind of happened. okay lemme just summarize and get this over with: at some point i did have a legit brain battle with food , never felt validated enough to say i actually had an eating disorder , but i did have to fight a lot. i started restricting and only thinking about food then i started obsessing over recovery and being healthy .. i watched over 150 videos on youtube in a span of a week all about nutrition , food , calories , fat loss . I did an inbody and was overweight in fats and that really messed with me . i needed to eat less. or i thought i did . i am at a point in my life were i dont diet but instead i intermittent fast and try to eat from 10 am to 6pm sometimes i fail and eat before/after and somedays i do great. please take care of yourself. your body is art always. i watched some movies and talked to people about food and found myself getting uncomfortable and even somewhat triggered by the subject and thats when i really saw that i am not doing well.

Thank you for sharing your story too. Realising that you’re unwell is the toughest part. But Once you do that, it gets harder but you’re moving forward. We must get comfortable with feeling uncomfortable in order to get healthy again. We can go this xx

The fear of relapse is common in ed recovery especially if your challenging yourself. Limiting your movement entirely will not break you as a person but make you stronger. You have to believe that you can do it even though your ed tells you that you’ll fail. I had to stop exercising for 6 months to recover and it was FREAKING HARD. But about 1 month in I began to enjoy and reap the physical and mental benefits of resting and since then I can confidently say that I enjoy movement. Don’t give up on yourself if even you have already tried and failed in the past. Instead use that as an example of what not to do and try again! You got this and remember that challenges make you stronger! So run to them and not away from them! :)
