Today we worked on Mer's Brother's Truck. Gunner needed lock up and a transmission rebuild. He left with a Billet Single disc, used billet input, and a Full Manual Valve Body with a ratchet shifter!
Way cool guys, ill be doing this next summer, what I will be doing tho is making the non lockup 518 to a 47rh with some parts I have a 2nd gen parts truck so it just a matter of time. Thanks for the video!
Great info, I"m planning on doing this to my first gen as well, finally nice to see what's actually different with the starters, I think I might be able to swap nose cones and gears from a dead 2nd gen starter onto my relatively new first gen starter body, it's currently running a well tuned up VE pump but it's going to get major upgrades soon, hence the need for getting rid of the slush-0-matic... Maybe I will do a FMVB in it...
Excellent video! Warms the heart with the friends and family projects. Almost makes me want to do the swap on my 92 4x4. I'm guessing some other things have to happen to mate the first gen transfercase to the 47rh. Really like the plug you guys made, nice touch. That input shaft is pure gold.
@@horsetorquesdiesel i was waiting to see the locked 2-3 shifts during the test drive. Any draw backs to locking the converter in lower gears while towing?
Subscribed so I have 84 ramcharger that is getting Cummins swapped with the 518 trans. Can that be swapped for the 47rh trans and run with out computer and use my stock shifter and full auto ? How much stronger is 47rh or the 518. Thank you !
check out the B&M stealth pro ratchet. i like those way better than the extra lever on the handle style.. just whack it forward or backwards to shift. it’s like bumping a paddle shifter. it all ways returns to center. had one in my roadrunner. they have the same pistol grip and you can run switches too in the handle.
@@horsetorquesdiesel the pro ratchet is super easy to hit reverse. one hand operation. i used to drive my roadrunner on the street all the time. i could flick the little lever with my two bottom fingers while still holding the shifter. if you run a trans brake lots of guys will just use the brake button while in neutral to back up.
@@horsetorquesdiesel ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-G4RkOGp9qSk.html this guy has forward pattern but still all works the same. Reverse is just 2 bumps away from first if you have reverse pattern. i like reverse pattern as you pull back to go through 1/2/3 shift. i guess it’s all preference though. lots love the gated style vs the ratchet. i don’t like to have to think about pulling a lever or not on gated.
I really enjoyed watching your Video, Very Informative!! I like how you guy's banter back and forth to each other. I have a 93 Dodge 4x4 pickup with an automatic, would that have the 518 Transmission too? And do you guy's have a Website or is it part of Power Driven Diesel??
Thank you! yes yours has a 518 transmission. This was a project Myer took on off the clock but PDD does sell full ready to install transmissions, just not the swap kits.
People are afraid of a FMVB because that B&M shifter is a bit intimidating. Winter's shifter with a mod to have a 4th gear snap action switch inside the shifter is where it's at. 3rd left is 3rd, 3rd right is OD.
