@@TheTechMan5270 The newer Macbooks from I believe from 2016 up to 2020 don’t have enabled the startup sound from default. You could enable it by typing a command. But in Big Sur, the startup sound on the newer macbooks is enabled from default. You can also now turn the sound on or of from the sound options in system preferences

@@notrandomtypek True, windows xp is still the best os for underpowered hardware and sure does make more use of its hardware than Linux does. That's why I'd still choose an older Windows os then a lightweight Linux distribution.
