Since there will be a shortage of sand to make things (we actually use a lot of sand each year to make all kinds of stuf) I'm sure he would be able to. Afaik sand is already big business and the deserts are owned by countries.
@@q3b26 The 12" MacBook was pretty far ahead. I really hope they reintroduce the concept. The iPad Pro is also excellent. They've certainly fallen behind elsewhere though, which is a shame. Their laptops need FaceID. Their phones need USB-C and smaller bezels. iOS desperately needs better notifications.
@@guneeksingh1236 Good person? Questionable. Highly accoladed salesman? IMO the best salesman ever. It is difficult to make someone want a product that is 11 years old, but he did
8:03 he even admits that SSDs were pricy but fast... something that today's Apple would never say in a presentation. I truly miss the honesty and avantgarde products of Steve's era.
Err...that's probably because 1. 12 years later, they _aren't_ as pricy and 2. spinning drives aren't even an option on Mac portables anymore, so what would the point of comparing it to something that didn't even exist?
@@falcon759 these days they sell a fucking monitor stand for the price of an Air without even shrugging. Back then they were comparing their products with competitors like Sony and Dell. The Mac Pros back then were starting at $2500 for a quad core, same or below Dell PCs as shown in 2006 keynote.
Isn’t it funny how Steve can make a near 11 year old product sound just as desirable today as it was back when it was originally announced? Edit: Wow! Three years on and this comment still gets reactions. Despite time continuing to pass, my feelings are still the same. There is just such a “wow” factor with his presentations. They truly seem timeless.
@@ZeeZedZeeIt’s all gone down the toilet. I mean look at the state of the entire world now. This era had a really good feeling. I used to love going to the Apple Store in 2009 and felt bemused by the standard of equipment. It certainly isn’t the same anymore
3:59 Steve's smile shows how he himself is happy with how good of a product his company made. This is a sign of a true leader that excels in his leadership. He was truly the best...
Ever feel like Steve is actually teaching you something. Using graphs, and understanding of what’s out there, and then turns it around and shows you that it can be made better. Always loved his presentations. Definitely miss what he brought to the table.
Lol that's true but I can kinda see why Tim does it, since Craig/phil or whoever are the people who actually helped make the product, so they would be the best person to present it.
This presentation literally changed the history of laptop engineering. We finally got light, thin, beautiful and powerful. Next step was when the battery became so good it could work up to 12 hours. I bought my first Air in 2014, cost a fortune. Worth every penny.
I bought in the 2014 too and it's still working fine. With battery replaced once, with daily almost 6-7 hours of usage, may be more than that for last almost 9 years.
@@sunildingankar8657i bought mine in 2013, and until now 2023, it still works like champ for daily task. Super fast, not laggy and still have good battery life
Wow…Thanks for the comments. I am looking for actual mac users to confirm this. My Macbook Air2020 still works like a champ at 3 yrs with just short battery for now about, 5-6 hours since I use it for work, but it rarely hangs on me or shut down. Never had laptop that last me this long so finally decided to invest on it even quite pricey
The dell slim notebook I'm using right now is only slightly better in terms of user experience. It's faster, but the modern web is more demanding anyway.
VAIOs of that era were often impressive technical feats - especially anything from their "Z" lineup. Their spec sheets read like impossible wishlists, and the implementation was always quite impressive.
The envelope is a prime example of Steve's superb showmanship. I'm sure lots of people creamed their pants when he took the MacBook Air out of the envelope. lol
Indeed: Jobs was a superbe storyteller on stage. It makes all the difference. Multiple companies now imitate the 'fits in' strategy or the 'one more thing'.
It’s not difficult for him to present this. Sure, he’s good, but he wouldn’t look as great presenting an iPhone se. There was just so much room for improvement back then.
That's because thinness doesn't improve usability. I would rather have a thick but 3 pound laptop than a thin 4 pound laptop. Also thicker laptops have more ports and are easier to repair
After 14 years it is still a goosebump moment when he picks up the letter envelope and makes the still (!) beautiful Macbook Air glide out, then holding it so that one can see it's wonderful shape. Also, the simplicity and intuitivity of finger gestures is still stunning, iconic.
The good old days. I miss this man. His presentation skills really sold me on his products every time. Tim Cook tries but can't really replicate Steve's charisma.
raul Rolon This is because it was Steve’s company, and this is because he loved it more than anything. Tim can never get close...in fact no CEO of any company can present their product better than the founders of the company
his smile at 3:59 is like the most sincerest smile he can give because he knows that he and his team did some revolutionary shit at that moment which is going to be a game-changer for years to come. Steve Jobs deserves the ultimate respect if he was alive apple would be much better today
@@realprisec after Steve death no innovation is introduced Apple introduce everything after another company is introduced. After Steve death is Apple is dead
Yes, 1 USB port, thermal throttling and soldiered components is so revolutionary! You iDrones make me sick. You'll lap anything up this company shits out.
Bacon no they arent but if you are going for a meeting or something like that u dont want to carry a fucking school bag with you or actually carry it in you hand and you dont look like you are going to kill somebody with those heavy shits
It’s 2021 and I still come back time and again to watch these. Say what you will about Steve Jobs, but nobody could sell the crowd on a product or an idea like he could. He was a master, and this was his arena. If you don’t believe me, just watch the modern Apple events and observe the differences.
I've been going to highschool for about 4 years now and in our country you already specialize in your field in highschool and everytime I lose motivation I come back to this video for inspiration.
2019: all praising the MacBook Air and Steve Jobs 2008: "man this thing sucks! It doesn't even have a DVD player, how am I supposed to install software?"
@@pratikxv Apple introduced the wheel to the world before the sumerians and now those poor android losers stole that too. Where will it end!!! Or was it electricity? Damn it, i'm sure apple invented both if not all and everything. Busy 6000 years for Steve Jobs.
Been on a binge watching these Steve Jobs Apple presentations. Its just not the same anymore, something about Steves stage presence just gets me everytime.
The lead up to its unveiling was an Oscar worthy performance. I recall watching this presentation and remember how it blew my mind when it came out of the inter-office envelope. .
Back when the ceo actually walked you through the product and also had the integrity and humility to talk honestly I could never imagine Apple today saying in a presentation it’s pricy but worth it the fact that he recognised and brought up the fact that it’s pricy is commendable. Can’t remember the last time Tim Cook talked us through a product on stage with such passion
the reason for it is that Steve Jobs CREATED Apple... its like it's child... A parent talking proudly about their kid.. Tim doesn't care.. all he cares about is the money... 😞😞
Days when Apple compared their product with other company products to show how better theirs are. Nowadays, they compare their own old products to showcase how their new version are better than them.
Have i9 mbp at home It is really good machine After update it runs constantly at 3.3ghz clock during heavy workload and only 93 degrees celsius. It is really poweful machine. With egpu comparable to old tower mac pro. Windows laptops are still mostly plastic and easy to break
Maciek Welk "only 93 degrees celsius." Dude, that's still too hot for a CPU it's almost reaching the thermal threshold. And I thought my CPU reaching 80C is bad enough. "Windows laptops are still mostly plastic and easy to break" That's just pure ignorance and is not true anymore.
Even tho the majority of windows laptops still use plastic you know have companies also using aluminum, stainless steal some Carbone fibre laptops My laptop is plastic but it strong as fuck its put dents in my doors and if the body cracks its only $13-20 to get a new one
Absolutly he see it's the quality and then adapt it to Apple style. But IBM or Dell well Steve did like to roast them alot but time as quite change with the rise of the xps series from Dell for exemple.
I don't know what's more impressive. the fact that apple made a laptop smaller than a notebook in 2008, or the fact that this video released simultaneously with apple's announcement
You know that that’s not even 1% of their revenue, surprise surprise people buy their adapters at third parties, and NOBODY needs the audio jack if you can get wireless earbuds for 20 bucks
I remember watching this live and being blown away. Any time Steve was doing a keynote, you knew you were in for a treat. Tim's cool, but no match for Steve's showmanship. The little things, like taking the iPod out of his pocket, or the MacBook Air out of an envelope, really sent the audience for a ride.
I really like going back to this kinds of presentations every once in a while. Really makes you see how much apple used to innovate and use that as their ace as opposed to now where they literally are just pricey because of brand name.
The MacBook air was announced almost 11 years ago and at that time I couldn't afford it. So I worked hard all those years and today I bought Dell. Cause I still can't afford it.
@@presidentmuhammadasyraafab7868 all seriously awesome and powerful. The battery life lasts me 2/3 days! And since they added the p3 wide color gamut on the Air, The display is awesome! Not as bright as the pro tho but still great! The MacBook Air is just as powerful as the pro now!! Not as underpowered as the original one
I'm buying a macbook air in 2018 now, at the 10th anniversary, coz I can afford it now. I am amazed how ahead apple under Steve Jobs was, 10 years earlier!
It's 2021 and almost the same exact design is instantly recognisable and still more than fits the mean in most environments. In the world of tech this truely was unprecedented. Like I'm sure you could nitpick bits like the HDD inside and the resolution (but really 1280x800 ain't too bad), and of course the performance envelope has some way to go, but that is quite honestly to be expected. Yet you could put this 13 year old laptop in front of just about anyone today and maybe it wouldn't be the most cutting edge, but it would still look/feel like a relatively modern sleek and slim design; I just can't imagine that for any other tech product over a similar period of time. Apple are famous for what they did with the PC, the iPod, the Smart Phone etc. but what they did with the UltraBook has to be their most underrated accomplishment; there are still elements of this design/product that current laptop manufacturers are working towards, more than a decade later. Not to drag on too much but imagine picking up and maybe even having to use this for a bit today in 2021 and compare that to picking up a laptop from 2002 in 2015, or even a laptop from 1997 in 2010.

15 years later we have MBA 15” but 2008 MBA still more sexy and super light. I miss that machine as I miss this man and his amazing presentations (Now apple all about making videos)
Each of these steve jobs product demos is so much of a f-ing slam dunk. The ipod nano in his mini jean pocket, the macbook in the paper envelope. absolutely insane
