Hi Mergim. Those are algae that come out around this time of the year. They are purposely left and just be washed up to the shore because it degrades in about a week and the by-product is what gives the Boracay sand the softer, whiter and finer texture. Hope this answers your question.
Wish he would have researched that himself 😂 I noticed that he is lacking in that department. Hope he takes constructive criticisms so he can improve from it.
@@Gemini530 Well, we really do not know what goes on behind his camera. He seems like a really cool guy. That could just be his strategy as well to have his audience be more interactive with him and with the community hes tryna build. So, just my two cents, let’s not take it too far advanced ahead.
@@Gemini530 napaka importante naman ng research na yan dude para lumot lang. Constructive criticism ka dyan bakit destructive criticsm ba sinabi nya? May pa lacking department ka pang nalalaman naaks.. cringy mo dude.
It's true that the algae, when dried, will crumble to a white powder. But this powder will quickly dissolve in water as it is just plant matter and it biodegrades and breaks down. It doesn't stand the test of time by turning into hard, sand particles. Moreover, the algae amounts in Boracay is absolutely not a natural occurrence, it's a byproduct of the contamination. Urinating at the beach, sunscreen lotions, and outside showers contribute to the algal bloom. All dishwashing waste is being poured into the ground. Boracay’s ground is karstic, meaning fractured, so these nutrients will seep into the soil and discharge as submarine groundwater.
TRUE, ok ok People, ENOUGH OF THAT REASON and ARGUMENT. THAT'S an ingredients of a super white , soft and heatproof SAND and that's not bacteria and fungi laden white sand, and beautifies more the shorelines.😂😊😊😊
In the 60's my Dad was working at the Department of Forestry, he toured around the group at the Boracay island representatives from the Tourism. The rest is history. That time the only people lived there are the indigenous people aka afro-african like the aetas. The island was so prestine back then.
wahoo wahoo, Yes Philippines has been Voted by different World Tourist Agencies/Magazines as the Best Destination for Wholesome Adventures. Wholesome because "BOOM BOOM" is not rampant like Thailand. Thailand is famous for Boomboom, Drugs, Weeds, and Homosexuality, like Bangkok, Phuket and Pattaya to name a few.
@@rencechannel2240 Why? Is saying the truth degrading? Well as the saying goes "Truth sometimes hurts", and it really hurts. Let's not be hypocrites because hypocrisy is pretending to be what you are not and trying or justifying shortcomings.
@@chattcedric6321 don't you know that Thais, Malaysians, and Indonesians call our country a "PAGPAG" (Left Over Foods) country? I will send a link to that documentary in the Thai language and see what other nationalities think about the Philippines as same as what you badmouth in Thailand. Also, there's a saying too " Do not criticize your neighbor, if your own is also unclean" 😒🙄
🇵🇭💖 Wow, I miss Boracay! Still very beautiful even when the place is now so commercialized. I just hope the government and the people preserve or improve it more.👍🤟
You're grin because you're living in the moment...😂 If you are anxious you are living in the future. If you are at peace you are living in the present.
Algae season from February to May. When it dries, that makes the powdery white sand. Try Paraw Sailing during sunset, one of the best experience during sunset.
10:00 That's algae. Algal bloom is a natural phenomenon in Boracay and normally occur during the first quarter of the year. 18:00 There are also restaurants in Manila that offer shisha.
Hi Mergim! For me the best time to visit the beach in Boracay is during the sunrise when the sea and sand rally glisten and sparkle! And still not too much people
Boracay’s beaches were a lot whiter-I mean, really white!-back in the 70s, 80s, maybe even till the 90s. I went there a lot those decades. It was so beautiful back then. Then the island became overbuilt and overrun with tourists with very few regulations to protect the environment. The pollution was allowed to go unchecked and waste management was practically non-existent. The island was closed down to give it respite but I don’t think we’ll ever see its beaches as white as they used to be.
But we were just there in January 2022 and there where spots in the front beach that shows those white sands(sometimes the sun's effect helps too). Just be sure to walk all throughout. 😊
Missing Boracay especially when it was the official party beach back then thanks for bringing us to Boracay, keep it up stay safe and God bless Mergin let's gooOooo 🤙
The green aquatic stuff along the beach you have noticed in Boracay is called "Algae". They are the plant-like mostly unicellular organisms, diverse and grow everywhere on earth. They are very important in ecosystems as help in the production of aquatic food chains. In this process, it releases oxygen gas to the atmosphere. It produces about 70% of oxygen. Algae shows up when the water is dirty during summer.
My first time in Boracay was in the early 80’s. Rented a beachfront hut for only PhP35 a week. Back then, the place was really quiet and the only bar there was the “Beachcomber”.
Mergim, We were in Boracay last August and there was none of the green seaweed. The name is Sea lettuce and is a type of seaweed found along coastlines around the world. It grows in shallow, enclosed and relatively warm water. Its growth is increased by: nutrients from outside the bay run-off from streams that contain fertiliser treated waste water from the water treatment works. We have this where I live in Jersey on one of our beaches in the summer, it can cover larger areas of the beach and on a warm day it stinks Great videos enjoy watching an i can't wait to be in the Philippines next month. Regards Cliff
Boracay, famous for its white sand beaches, hence a tourist destination. The flower you pointed out is Hibiscus or commonly known in the Philippines as Gumamela & there’s a myth of how the name came to be (see Google.) Enjoy & have fun in Boracay. 😊
@@3dots166I stand corrected…the Kalachuchi is a flowering “tree,” which he mentioned, whereas Gumamela is a flowering shrub; a distinction between the two. Mergim will now be familiarized with another tropical flower known as Hibiscus or Gumamela.
Mergim -- The green "seaweed" is naturally occuring and is a seasonal algae. It actually makes the sand soft and white. It goes away after a week or so.
I think the management of Boracay should know that ! and have a regular cleaning or removing that algae ,is not nice to see that part of beaches is full of algae especially that Boracay is a tourist destination.👍🏜🌄
@@markpaulpangan7618 I'm just concerned because I remembered during PRRD he ordered the temporary closure of Boracay for some reason.? But anyway thanks to your concerned. 👍

Ahaha. I love all the comments here. Some are amazing, some are arguing 😂 All I can say is I'm watching him always because his vlog is unique & spontaneous. I have learned so much in every location he's been to, he did not hide anything, good or bad he is definitely sharing it. Very funny, not so serious, entertaining, very true and approaches people around. Continue what you're doing
When I went to Boracay last month, I always go to Station 1 going to west and also the Puka Beach which is one ride from the mainroad because the beach has no algae. I also love the Bulabog beach which is the parallel beach of where you are right now, the water activities are insane and not to mention it faces Romblon Province. People tend to go to Station 2 and 3, the busy stations! ❤😅
There’s Mergim in Boracay finally landed in paradise! So in 2018 or 19 the former President closed down Boracay to be cleaned up and fix everything roads , distances of hotel restaurants stores that were so close to the water or ocean they have to be 25 feet away so a lot of that places was cut and moved back s sewer as well were ordered to be fix and motorcycles converted into electric. So those are the massive changes there in Boracay. It was a unified effort because it also included Manila bay, pasig River , all small bridges was totally cleaned up so that’s what it looks now in Boracay. Be safe and have fun. Beware of the prices. You should try hard to speak Tagalog so you won’t be charged as tourist.
Jet Bisaya adventures, even if Mergim can Speak Tagalog or other Regional Dialects, his apprearance will truly betray him. He is still a Caucasian and and a Foreigner.
Oh wow☺️that's the street your passing where we stayed(faith village) and at the end of the street is the 7/11 (station 3) ..enjoy and be safe.. thank you for promoting our tourism..i like all your vlogs
AAAAAAAH! MERGIM I AM ENVIOUS! I MISS BORACAY RIGHT NOW & ITS SUMMER, PERFECT! AAAAAAAH! THATS ME SCREAMING MAD HAHAHAHAHAAA! AM GONNA CRY........ MEMOMYEEEE!!! OH WELL.... HAVE FUN MERGIM, THANKS FOR SHARING YOUR TIME THERE. HERE'S A TINSY TRIVIA, BORACAY ISLAND IN THE EARLY 70s WAS STILL UNDISCOVERED COMMERCIALY, IT WAS AN UNSPOILED ISLAND THAT YACHTING JETSETTERS WOULD SECRETLY GO TO, TO ANCHOR & SPEND TIME IN PRIVATE. YES, LIKE A PRIVATE PARADISE, INDEED. THAT IS GONE NOW OF COURSE HAHAHAHAAA! ALTHOUGH YACH OWNERS MAY STILL GO TO & FIND SOME SERVICES, FOOD & COMFORT IF THEY WISH TO. IN LATE 70s BORACAY WAS FREATURED IN A YACHT MAG CATERING TO YACH CLUB OWNERS, IN THE LIST OF TOP TEN PLACES IN THE WORLD AS DESTINATION FOR THOSE YACHT OWNERS WHO HAVE THE PRIVILEGE & LIFESTYLE OF THE RICH & FAMOUS. WELL NOW ITS OPEN TO THE PUBLIC. THANK GOD DUTERTE GOVT DECIDED TO IMPROVE THE MESS & CHAOS THAT RESULTED TO SO MUCH COMMERCIALISM THAT DEVELOPED & HAD GONE UNCHECK, AS WHAT HAPPENED TO MINDORO, PUERTO GALERA. SO YOU ARE LUCKY TO HAVE GONE TODAY, AFTER THE WORK THAT WAS DONE TO PUT SOME CORRECTIONS & REGULATIONS TO GET IT TO AN IMPROVED CONDITION. LETS HOPE IT STAYS IN PLACE. BORACAY IS BEAUTIFUL! GLORY ALELUAH! HAVE FUN! TACARE, FUNNY HOW SIMPLY URBAN YOU REALY ARE, THE PRACTICALITY OF CHOICE TO MUNCH ON A SNACK OF CHICKEN POPPERS FROM KFC AS YOU WATCH THE SUNSET IS SO FAMILIAR AHAHAHAHAHAAAAA! I CAN RELATE! AHAHAHAHAHAHAAAA! GOD BLESS!
it's very expensive to go to Boracay that's why many local cannot afford to go there for vacation. There are so many place and island in the Philippines that is the same with Boracay some are even better, at a very reasonable price.
It is expensive indeed but there are still so many locals who can afford them. Just look at the crowd in this video. Aren't they overwhelmingly locals?
ive stayed in boracay for a week and their's a lot of cheap food options specially outside the beach area, you can even have a buffet for just 200+ pesos
If you get the chance, visit Hinugtan Beach in Buruanga, Aklan. 30mins drive from Caticlan port. You will love the beach (like Boracay) but more privacy. It’s a hidden gem. Becoming Filipino vlogger went there but just for a day. Probably you can explore it more and the rest of Buruanga with caves, falls and the driving as well 🧡
Mergim just described Boracay in details and really disected with a picturesque description of the beach. That is one thing about his vlogs. They are really well researched, well done and we'll delivered. Thanks One thing I noticed is that the girls are gorgeous. That really made Mergim inspired haha😢
Those aren't seaweed but algae! They are formed due to contamination in the water. One very obvious reason are garbage disposal and the outlet from the septic tank. In other words, those are formed because of shit (lol) thus, the reason why Boracay was closed in the past years for rehabilitation and compliance for the hotel waste. Pls do research next time before doing some yada yada yada . Thankyou :)
Starting at 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon the sands becomes really white and the sea water becomes more crystalize and blue green color. It's really warm during that time.
Hello mergim, I'm newbie here in your channel!I was amazed to you how do you live and travel in Philippines there's a lot of beautiful places you can visit ! Take care and enjoy your stay in Philippines!!
Go to Tablas, you can rent a bike there for a much cheaper price and the views and water are just as beautiful as Boracay. Even better, without the crowd.
What I just really don't like with Boracay is that most of the things to rent/use are very commercialized. Commercialized to the point that they bring the prices up/high, which is called tourist price. Everything is pricey. That is why it is called so costly/expensive out there. But if you get to be familiar with place, you will get to know the cheaper areas there where you can enjoy and rent/use the same commodities as well. It will take a foreigner to get in touch with a local there to know the secret places away from the tourist areas and prices.
Popular tourist areas are always like that. They follow the law of supply and demand. The supply cannot catch up with the demand so the prices go higher.
@@wavemaker2077 Hahahaha not to mention Scammers and Opportunists. I guess the Government must make a Standard Prices for all the amenities to avoid bad reputations that are already been experiencing by disgruntled Locals and Tourists alike. I remember Jessica Lee, a Korean who's been living in the Philippines for about ten years had her Hair Braided and paid P2000, but she asked the others who are also doing Braids and was told that it only cost P200.
9:43 Its seaweeds season now in Boracay. They're actually serve as water-filter so they're really cleaning the beach. They will disappear after a few weeks and after that the water is really clean. Best time to go there around late May when the water is really clear and not much people.
This is the most comprehensive bloody tour of the Boracay beachfront from end to end that I've seen on RU-vid, if I have to say so myself. Thanks for the trip, mate!
Went there exactly at the same time as you do last year and there were a lot of seaweed but thats normal during summer time. I think the best time to go there is during rainy season. Went there also in September and the waters were perfectly blue, clearer and no algaes at all.
I noticed in the video that he just walked up to the middle of station 2..If he visited station 1 or station zero,he would have discovered and felt suprised probably that there are no algae on those particular part or stretch of the beach...
The green stuff is algae that makes the sand of Boracay whiter. It is usually there on this time of the year where the waters are towards the white beach.
you should try walking on the sand so you'd feel its fine powdery texture, likewise it isn't hot despite the scorching heat of the sun; it gives you a cool sensation.
Hi Mergim! I'm just wondering if you any time consider to use any other colour than black? As being in summer time and now being hot days you might change into a lighter colours and maybe a sando! Also using socks is a strange thing out here in summer time. Try to use flip flops, specially on the beach. All filipino guys wear them. Just give it a try!
What season do algal (algae) blooms occur in Boracay? Whether we like it or not, the beautiful white sands in Boracay will be partially covered by these green moss or green algae (lumot in Tagalog), particularly from February till March. It will automatically and gradually disappear by the mid or end of May.
Hi friend Mergim this is the awaited vlog that i am asking for. That you could spend in Boracay. Now it is 19th place to be the best beach Island in the world. Pls enjoy and relax.
Those are algae it comes once a month it actually the reason why Boracay has white sands . It has an elements to mixed up with the water and it turns green but it benefit the sands.
Uh-oh. The green algae is back in Boracay. While that naturally shows up each year, it's not supposed to be that thick. The algae gets thick due to a number of factors, including climate change-driven changes in water temperature and (eew!) sewage seepage.
The other side of the island has more water sports, I actually prefer staying on that side as its quieter and still has its share of cafes, bars, restos
