There is a captain hook tip for the oxy ace for tight spots have never used it but have heard it works good. Still struggle sometimes on tight spots you re not alone, good job!

Ya that would have been helpful - heard of it just haven’t tried it out yet

I have that same recovery machine and it works wonderfully. I actually like it better than my Appion G5 twin

A little advice…. Never use the flame to melt the rod. Get it nice and hot all around, once its glowing on one side you move torch to opposit side of where your going to place rod initially. The heat from torch on opposite side of where the rod is will automatically draw sided to the flame. Ideally just over quarter inch of solder per 1/4 inch of pipe.

@ApartmentMaintenancePro Год назад
That works great for soldering but there is no soldering in this video. This is a tight spot on 7/8" copper using brazing rods (sil-fos). Got about 1" of wiggle rooom to where I can move the flame and sil-fos. I don't have all the room in the world to control the heat like all the top 3d videos on youtube that teach you how to braze.

I’ve never tried brazing. I realize it’s pretty much a “must” for hvac. It’s definitely more challenging than flux & solder. Good video👍

It can get challenging in confined spaces - thanks for watching 🔥

Not knocking you, just giving advice. I’ve been in industry since 2013, associates in applied science HVAC. You want to make sure to pressurize with nitrogen before hand and be careful not to over heat or introduce excess solder into the system.

@ApartmentMaintenancePro Год назад
No solder was used in this video and you don't want to pressurize with nitrogen it will blow out the sil-fos, you want to 'flow' nitrogen.

I was wondering if cutting a piece of the duct work out and replacing with a larger piece of sheet metal would have been an option for a better access to braze that pipe that was hard to get at.

Great job man. Definitely invest in a swathe tool though. It would be easier because you would have less joints. You can get a decent one under 200

I'm not here to criticize your work and be a dick, but just for my own knowledge, when you were sweating in the copper on the reversing v/v on the vise should you have had nitrogen flowing to prevents cuperic oxide even in the small amount of that pipe? Thanks for your video.

Why are you not flowing nitrogen while you are brazing? That will leave black carbon build-up on the inside and clog the filter drier, the oil in the compressor etc.
@ApartmentMaintenancePro
@ApartmentMaintenancePro Год назад
06:33 did you watch the video?!?!
@Balticblue93
@Balticblue93 Год назад
I did watch the video and you used nitrogen on one single brazed joint on the replacement. The others would still have the carbon Oxidation on the inside of the individual pipes. I suppose you somehow clean that out with a brush or some method. And during the unbrazing process of all the joints that you used over creates the same oxidation.

Good day, congratulations for what you are doing, I would be interested in a clip about the scroll compressor zr81kc-tfd-422, why it has three pipes, thank you, good luck in the future.

That is a technology I cannot afford 😅 they also don’t work in tight spaces

especially for these horrible tight space with rubber and nylon inside the valve.
