Got JDL Catted UEL paired with Invidia Q300. Still pretty quiet on idle, cruising, but when I give it throttle the sound is sexy. Glad you enjoy your car. It is very fun to drive.

I have the OFT & a UEL header & I don't have a flex fuel kit but I do have an E85 tune because I have access to E85 & it's amazing! awesome power compared to stock. If you have access to E85, you don't need the flex fuel kit.

Bud Greene so how does that work? Do you tune it to e85 with the oft? And then does your car have to be completely empty then fill it with e85 for the tune to work?

cody birchenough 1. Drive till petrol light comes on, and then some. 2. Fill up with E85. 3. Plug in OFT and view the car diagnostics. 4. Drive until the fuel diagnostic shows a negative percentage. 5. Stop car and load E85 tune. 6. Let it idle after tune for 45seconds. 7. Profit. Unfortunately without a flex fuel kit youll need to either constantly run e85 or repeat steps when filling with an alternative fuel.

Awesome man thanks! I highly recommend the JDL catted headers. They will give you more rumble. The FT86Speedfactory catted UEL headers are a bit more EL than the JDL and so you lose the rumble at higher RPMS.

the sad thing with boxer engines is that the only reason why uel headers gives more power is because 2 out of 4 cylinder get better scavenging in the famous torque dip you cant get a 4-1 shorty like on an inline 4 you can get a 4-1 EL header but the runners are so long, you get power from only 7-8k

Law threw the ofh on finally, tuned w/ my oft and man it is loud! maybe it is my TRD intake + cat back, but I'm definitely feeling and hearing the difference. Was your exhaust super loud at first too?

Oh yeah. It's way louder. You are removing your main Catalytic converter and that makes it super loud.

Rowdy Jatt 100% better sound and it gets rid of the torque dip at 3k-4k a little. I've since added full invidia 2.5" exhaust from headers back. its loud and mean sounding

Exhaust setup in this video was Openflash UEL headers, stock fron pipe, WORKS Midpipe, WORKS muffler delete. Intake was stock except for the K&N Filter. Thats it!

haha yeah this setup was a bit much and its quieted down since then. Surprisingly the smell wasn't too bad. As long as you keep the stock FP in, the smell shouldn't be too strong.

What exhaust are you running? I suggest getting a real quiet exhaust if you are worried about volume. Like the Invidia Q300 or the Yonaka Catback. Both of those pair great with catless headers and will quiet down the tone a bit

Does it really make that much of a difference in power? I just bought the O2 spacer to fix the CEL instead of getting the OFT tablet.

al al with the proper tune for the increased airflow you will probably see an increase of 20hp and the torque dip largely goes away. You won't get the same kind of feeling you do when boosted but it's a pretty big difference.

Law Yeah, that makes sense. And one more question, how loud are your cold starts? I've tried the invidia q300 after running with muffler deletes but it's still pretty loud especially since it's colder. I had to change back to the stock system which is way too quiet now.

Mine are really really loud. Q300 shouldnt be much louder than stock honestly unless it was modified. But honestly i find stock exhaust with headers actually makes a great sound thats not super loud.

Yeah i immediately flashed the Stage 2 UEL tune with the Open Flash Tablet. Theres no guarantee you will get a CEL without a tune, but the benefits of aftermarket headers don't show up without a tune.

i dont have these headers installed anymore. The ones i had i sold to a friend and he's been running them find zero issues. The V1 OFH had welding issues but those were fixed in the V2. They just released the V3 which i believe are even better quality.

Its not as big of a difference as you think. A lot of it are just quality of life changes like, no torque dip and better idle as well as better throttle response.

I installed stage 1 today and I thought the changes were amazing. Now I am thinking about going stage 2/UEL headers. The only thing holding me back is the catless smell from the headers.

You can always do Catted headers. The power gains arent quite as big but honestly you are maybe losing 5hp over the 15hp you would be getting so not a huge difference. Benefit also is that its quieter and doesnt attract as much attention

with that setup and e85 you should be hitting about 200 WHP. So about a 30ish hp bump over stock.

it's definetly noticable. However if you turn off your fan system it keeps it out. As for it putting off non-car people it really depends. My girlfriend didnt mind nor did my coworker.

yes but make sure you flash the tune specifically for EL headers. It should say EL on the tune itself unless its changed since i last used it.

Personally i recommend the tune. The car will respond SO much better and give you a little more mid range power. Take advantage of the headers. Not to mention you can run e85 with it which should net you almost 200 whp.

You would if you plan on running E85. While technically you could just run the E85 tune from the Openflash Tablet, the Flex Fuel kit gives you the flexibility to run 91-93 if there isn't E85 close by.

As long as you buy brand new, the tune should be available on the tablet itself.

Mrawd Tuner The setup is awesome. I've since then upgraded to a custom tune running E85, but you cant go wrong with this setup. The car feels way more responsive and it gets rid of most of the torque dip so you get a lot more usable power through the rev range.

That is how I felt after getting my header, E 85 flex fuel kit and tune. Totally different car. That torque dip is gone. Torque is awesome. I am running E85 exclusively since the tune. But with JDL UEL Header, Delicious Tuning Flex Fuel Kit, and cat back exhaust. My car dynoed at around 215 whp. That was as much we could squeeze out of it. I think without the cats on your header and e85 you might get 220 max. But don't think it's going to be any more then that. Depens if its catless or not. If they are un-catted then yes, its super loud. You will need a quieter catback if you dont wanna wake the neighbors

it differs from company to company but for OFT, Stage 1 is meant for stock setup only. Stage 2 is for when you've added things like headers and a front pipe.

There is literally no difference between the 2 and the 3 except that the combo 3 adds an overpipe. Honestly i dont see enough evidence than an overpipe adds enough performance for my money to be worth it so i say just get the 2. If you are in NorCal you can always pick one up from Shiv himself if you live close enough. If not just buy from their website.

Nick Marcove hmmm he's a bit far from you then. He is in the SF Bay Area. The overpipe might change the sound a bit. If you go wider diameter expect an increase in volume. Supposedly it will help with the power increase as well but from my experience your entire exhaust system should be 3" to actually get some good gains

i never got it Dyno'd so i can't say for sure. However with the OFH and the Tune on the OFT supposedly it was supposed to give between a 15-20 hp bump. Which would put the car right at around 180-190 whp depending on other mods.

Hey man no problem. Just running the Stage 2 UEL tune for 91. Didnt have access to E85 at the time. The header that is on the car in this video is the Open Flash Headers. ive since then gone with JDL UEL headers with a ceramic coat.

Thanks a lot man will do! Yeah all Stage 2 means for our cars is Header upgrade. Stage 1 is generally just the tune on stock exhaust or aftermarket cat back exhaust. The tune on the OFT does specify 91 or 93 so make sure you flash the correct one. You can always email shiv@openflashperformance.com in case you aren't sure.

if it is the stage 2OFH it's only for 93(very aggressive even for 93) you shouldn't run it on 91 unless you data log and by some miracle you're fine. I had some knock on that tune with 93, you need your fuel quality to be on par to run that tune. If you're using regular stage 2 tunes then there are specific 91 and 93 octane tunes. I would definitely recommend looking into it better safe than sorry.

The drone was a bit much but that was more the fact that the WORKS Muffler Delete was pretty droney already and the increased volume made it worse.

i have it paired to an invidia N1 so that might explain the drone. but i also recently replaced some gaskets and that helped out a bit. definitely gonna look into a less droney exhaust.

Wes' TECH no; the UEL means “unequal length headers.. the open flash tablet is basicaly that a tablet so that you can tune your car from when it got out of the factory. Which means more hp and more pound feet if torque

I did not but thats what the Tune is for. If you do not tune your car for the headers you will get a CEL after a bit. The tune helps the car adjust to the airflow better and turns off that CEL that you would get.

I got a cell also after catless hearder install...so all i did was get an extension for the 2nd o2 sensor wiring and welded a bung behind the front pipe cat, no cell and its been few months

Wow it's interesting hearing him say it's so much more fun to drive just for headers. I'm gonna look in to doing this so. Any one got recommendations for tuning? Or how it work to get a tune from a shop?

Highly recommend a custom e-tune from Delicious tuning. Tuning has gotten really good for these cars and it can completely change how the car performs and responds.

All Stage 1 means is that you are running Stock Headers. Do NOT run Stage 2 unless you are running aftermarket headers. The tune is meant to work with the new airflow.
