First Impressions Of Tawi-Tawi | Philippines. In this Philippines travel vlog I visit the infamous island in Mindanao known as Tawi-Tawi and I am the first travel vlogger to come here. This island in Mindanao Philippines known as Tawi Tawi is a muslim island that has been on travel advisory lists to not visit due to danger. This was my first day on this island and my first impressions of Tawi-Tawi Philippines.

Who am I?
A man from the USA trying to discover the world one place at a time, while sharing the experiences through my lens. I like traveling to places that are usually not first on most people’s itinerary and showing everyone that these places are worth the journey. I want to experience all the countries I visit as a member of the society but at the same time learn about the culture, food and beautiful people. Growth is not achievable without leaving your comfort zone, so just do it!

I was born and raised in the Philippines. My family moved to Mindanao, Davao, where I spent most of my adolescence. I moved to the US in the mid 90's. I have not been to Tawi-Tawi but I heard about it growing up - my father went there to work for 3 years, he said it was pretty safe even back then. One thing I have to tell you though, and that is - be wary of the cops there. Ask directions from the locals NEVER the policemen.😃

Nice video, that's the most remote island in Philippines, they even use Malaysian currency to buy things. There's a boat there, I think, it's going to Malaysia if you like a little adventure.

TheTweetkiss is ignorant, he's just guessing. They don't use ringgit there. Some may stock up on ringgit to use for trade with Malaysian traders but as you yourself have seen, they use peso there in local transactions, not ringgit. Most of the goods are imported from Zamboanga, like the white coffee (Great Taste, a Pinoy brand) which you drink, because local manufacturers guard their market. Though a small portion of the traded goods are imported, even smuggled, from Sabah

@TheTweetkiss 11 месяцев назад
@@mjziamcklnt9199 @milomilo417 - Please google, here are some of the newsclips saying people in Tawi-Tawi islands use the Malaysian Ringgit besides the Philippine peso : Manila Bulletin : The municipal government of Taganak in Tawi-Tawi has entered into a “verbal agreement” with the Malaysian authorities to allow local residents of Taganak to buy their major household commodities in Sandakan, the capital state of Malaysia. Taganak Mayor Hadji Moh Faizal Jamalul said trading between Sandakan and Taganak merchants has started using the “Malaysian ringgit and Philippine peso” as currency. ABS CBN: Food prices up 100% in Tawi-Tawi due to Sabah standoff. Trade relations between Sabah and Tawi-Tawi have been in existence for centuries due to its geographical proximity. Tawi-Tawi is only around 20 kilometers away. The foreign exchange business has also been greatly affected. In Tawi-Tawi, foreign exchange shops are also on the brink of closing. The Malaysian ringgit is considered a prime currency in trading there." EXPEDITION VLOG to Tawi-Tawi - "Although they are still in the Philippines, they use Malaysian Ringgit against using Philippine peso for trading as they buy their resources from Malaysian traders that are only 30-minutes away" I don't live there, but I understand a bit of economics, there are lots of small Merchants there travelling & buying products made in Malaysia, then reselling these in Tawi-Tawi, to sell these products in Tawi-Tawi, I would rather receive payments in Ringgit since I will use this currency to buy again products in Malaysia who do not accept Philippine peso as payments. These are small merchants unlike big tradings with other big countries where US currency is the preferred payment, .. . .so common sense.

Hi Brother, good day to you 🌹I’d like to thank you for your kindly efforts you’ve done. Just a note: please try to give your viewers this details 👇 1. The distance between place to place and catching what? Air plane/train/cars and ETA! Most of viewers have interested to know about variety accommodation eg., hotels/Condos/apartments Etc., is preferable. How much the journey cost per day? I may understand, you look like you don’t smoke/drink but you’re giving information about countries & villages so it’s preferable to mentioned about these unpleasant habit smoking & drinking allowed/not. Again thank you so much for your time spending during recording & filming those beautiful countries 🥰🌺🥰 Yusuf

May be it is better to give money so that he can use it for other items and he can eat his home Made food which is much cheaper. Your comment is due to cultural differences, east vs west. MYERS wasn't cheap, that's how we ask in the west unlike in East(homeland) where you are pressured almost forced to eat. Eat eat eat style hahahha

Tawi-tawi is definitely not safe for non-muslims. While I acknowledge and appreciate that you try to break stereotypes and want to show the place, Tawi-Tawi gets that bad rep for a reason. You have a different experience because you're muslim like them but they're definitely not that welcoming and friendly to non-muslims. In fact, that's where all the insurgencies and terrorists in the Philippines take refuge because the Philippine government has little to no control there.
