They went back to a mechanical clutch on this generation. This combo is as powerful as some of the 18v combos out there, and many tradespeople use M12 tools due to the huge lineup.

The small drill is freaking great it’s usually my main for millwork installs. It can do so much especially with the bigger battery

I use the impact almost every day for removing panels on vans. I looove it, tiny and way lighter than what I’m used to.

I wish they would do a none hammer drill kit. But I have the gen 2 kit and it works great for what I use it for. I do prefer the mechanical clutch.

I've been using that combo for over a year and it's my daily go to. As for the heft of the hammer drill, well it's far lighter than the M18.

I bought this same kit and wasn’t disappointed until after about a month or so… don’t get me wrong the drill is a monster it went through 1/2 steel like butter paired with my Mac bits but it eventually started overheating so bad that I could only run it for 10 seconds then it’d overheat not sure if I just got a bad one or if this is just a manufacturing defect but when it was working it was phenomenal

if you need power in an 12v get the Milwaukee Surge used it to sink 3/8 x8" lag bolts

Why do you like it so much? I decided against it a couple years ago. I’m currently in the market for a new one so wry curious what makes it so much better for you?
@jamesrichardson5769
@jamesrichardson5769 6 месяцев назад
@@TKayCO I liked the gen1 surge because of its size, quieter impacting and less strain on the wrists but there are times where it just doesn’t have enough power for what I do. I only use the gen 4 hex impact m18s now. The surge line is a neat idea but doesn’t have the speed or force of a regular fuel. Hoping to see this hydraulic impact technology get better. The sustained impacting power and lower sound is amazing the power just isn’t there yet imo.

I just never understood why youd have a quick connect on an impact. Im using sockets anyway and i would never use one to drill either. Thats what a drill is for. Even the drill has a regular chuck. Plus using the attachment gets rid of the whole point of the stubby

I just do not understand the use of impact tools for woodworking. Wouldn't the impact action break more fibers in the wood than a drill?

@unclefester4626

I have that. The impacter is a battery destroying pos! The circuit board must be defective because it never shuts down. It will drain a battery to a mere creep. Not happy with it or the weak drill it comes with. My m12 circ saw and the rover lights are the only thing keeping me in the m12 line.
@TKayCO
@TKayCO 6 месяцев назад
My m12 impact lasts a week at least per battery doing electrical work. It’s so well built I drop it every day and have done so of a few roofs and on concrete and it still hasn’t slipped a beat. By far my most useful and reliable tool I own. I could not recommend it more for electricians doing basically anything besides driving long thick screws into hardwood without pre-drilling a hole. As a replacment for a hand screwdriver for 95% of tasks it’s life changing.
@scottmorris4914
@scottmorris4914 2 года назад
On M12, the battery gauge is on the tool. So you can’t see the charge level of a battery unless you plug it into a tool, unlike the M18 which has the battery gauge on the batteryb

I’m a Makita 18/36v platform guy, but if I ever have the need for die grinders again I will be going to the M12 for certain tools. I’ve been impressed with Milwaukee tools in general for awhile now.

Indeed for little things around the house m12 is alright but being a contractor m12 is very very very weak and should only be used for finishing type work where you could use a screw driver
