I think the Flyhawk kit is a waterline series. As this is intended as full hull the waterline bottom and metal weight are not needed. They might have given some guidance on the colours, but of course there are only b/w photos and colorized ones.
Hi Jason, thanks for a great first impression of this kit. It's good to get the word out about how kit manufacturers are marketing their kits. I really wonder why Flyhawk allowed Takom to use their plastic to sell a kit that competes with their own. It's just another example of how manufacturers try to trick the consumer. Thanks for sharing. Have a great day. Jeff
As you say for a release that is meant to compete with the likes of Flyhawk and yet Takom have been lazy and sloppy almost to the point that they are laughing at the customer as they count the money . I have no problem scratch building and adding etch to a kit to bring it up thats model building (i am about to build the USS Lexington CV2 in 1/700) but touted as a new kit , that will not push me to check out any of their 1700 in the future . Thanks for the review marra . Regards Gav.
Was just looking at this on their FB page this morning 1917 and 1918 version! The box on Facebook has 1917 I'm lost with them now thought it was 1916? That's weird must be 2 kits just out? check their Facebook page you will see the 1917 box art maybe just come out it's a blue box it's not on scalemates yet only this 1916 version with Zeppelin, and tells you on there it's all FLYHAWK reboxed
Happens all the time.. Manufacturer's rebox other manufacturers kits (or even reissue their own old stuff) and release them as "new"... The Airfix 1/72 Fouga Magister from a few years back.. They changed the decal sheet and placed it in a current red type box and changed the artwork to reflect the different decal sheet and released it as "new" but its EXACTLY the SAME kit they had in their range back in 1975 /1976.even the instructions are exactly the same. Apart from the decal sheet there is nothing "new" about it despite what airfix would have you believe.
Yeah same as new afv club kits being 20yr old Ding hio kits another example it Academy and Tamyia back in 83/85 they were swapping moulds like football stickers we had at school lol
@@AFV85 another 1 they (airfix) conned people with is the fictious mig-28 from their "top gun" series. Despite trying to have people think it was new when they released it it wasn't new... It's the same F-5E kit that they released back in 1987...
