NHS doctors just ignore the public when they mention it. 20% population has IBS this clip should be played in every hospital A and E as we spend on average 10 hours waiting to be seen????

Thank you for this. I live in the US and medication is always pushed on us first vs lifestyle changes. Probably too tedious for doctors to get into. This is so helpful and I will be watching the other webinar shortly

Don't cover here stress and psychology and inthe same breath recommend dietary changes which are likely to cause major stress in some patients. Doctors still hugely underestimate the role of stress in sickness.

Exactly this. I have a very unstable relationship with food, get overwhelmed and spiral to the point I restrict everything or stop eating altogether. I NEED guidance through appointments, have repeatedly explained this to services (it *should* be on my records...) and yet the NHS chose to send me this video link and said if they didn't hear from me afterwards (as though this video magically fixes things!) I'd be discharged from their services 🤦‍♀️ Thanks NHS, STELLAR job. Also the other link on the letter doesn't allow access from both iPhone and Android 🙃 (it's a QR code...) It took me 2+ years to get my first appointment, get into services for help. Then I got a Section 21, had to move suddenly, found out they can't transfer me to a different area so I'm having to START ALL OVER AGAIN to get help for a disorder which has quite literally made me s**cidal at times. And it's not the only one either, this is happening across multiple departments, regularly multiple months to 1 year + for first appointments. The NHS is so far beyond broken!

Folks-dont lose sight of the "faithful three" potatoes, carrots and white rice. Almost nobody suffers from these three. Remember with carrots that it is good to peel the carrots. Agree with meals except that in my experience ANY breakfast almost guaranteed to cause diorrhea with me

I agree with your list. For me not quite ripe bananas are very soothing. If they're too ripe, they can cause diarrhea.

USA MD , here . Very impressed with your common sense approach which is evidenced based and based on experience. As you know there are many different and sometimes conflicting diets and treatments recommended for IBS. This is par for the course for a functional disorder. For example, I sometimes need an antidepressant to treat my IBS and depression after reading about FODMAP diet as the ONLY way to go. I have a colleague who I consulted who does not believe in IBS( “ IBS is BS”) and told me my American diet with Red meat , processed foods, no fiber caused my diverticular disease seen on screening Colonoscopy AND my IBS like symptoms (paradoxical diarrhea , flatulence , mild pain). He prescribed a high fiber diet, “ vegan plus” . I quit after two weeks. I will go through your videos; I am excited. The only problem is one of your narrators does not speak any English I am familiar with.

Personally, I would like to try more fermented food in my diet to decrease the IBS. Located in the UK, I drink the genuine kvass for my gut health :)
