i don’t usually comment on videos but iv recently gotten into the sport and found your channel, you and dkwan are by far the best esk8 youtubers out there. keep up the awesome work scott. i look forward to watching you for years to come
most powerful 2 in 1 board out there right now… i consider myself a decent rider, and i gotta practice on this beast. and i didnt even turn up the amps all the way 🔥
@@scottdaviesyoutube I’m glad u talked about the Panasonic cells.. I’m told there bad as well.. yet it delivers all across the board... good stuff brotha
Well. What’s to say. It’s a beast. I absolutely love the new colour. Looks like it handles that hill with ease too. I’m after range and torque, not bothered by top end speed (although this obviously has that too) and it looks like this board will have the torque I’m after and the last version was great on range so I’d expect this to be the same or better. Looks like a winner. …..Love that clip/outtake at the end haha. 🤣🛹🛹
Scott, thanks so much for your video on this Eovan board. I used your discount code TODAY and bought the board for $1,502.53 shipped! (That's with the optional 125MM red street wheels, in addition to the included AT wheels.) Incredibly wonderful board this appears to be. Thank you! Michael Thompson, West Monroe, Louisiana, USA. :)
Nice video Scott, it's pretty cool to see Eovan taking advantage of some of the VESC features there with the remote. I would assume it has a custom firmware or something allowing them to do that, but you're now experiencing the power of VESC for real! For me on some of my boards I set the motor amps all the way up to 80 or 100 for acceleration and braking! I would think they probably have some limits in place on the remote though to protect the cells. Will be interested to see how much range you get out of that Panasonic battery. I will also add, yes, those wheels are ugly. I'm sure the tires are good but yuck I'd much rather at least have black wheels so they don't stand out so much lol
Far superior esc (Vesc) more experience with this type of board (this is Meepos first attempt and I’ve seen a few issues online (Eovan know what they are doing)
Scotty! my Carbon super just arrived. wow is it scary fast, had my first ride tonight. power on tap! going to start off conservatively 😅 first commute tomorrow! did you do anything to belt tensions or bearings out of the box? I just charged it, got the pneumatics to pressure and off I went. cheers
Thanks mate. This will be a great addition to sit next to my zeus. I'll let my friends ride the Zeus and I'll take this one which seems to require more skill for sure. This year has been simply amazing for the Esk8 community.
I subscribed. Looking to buy my first eskate today. Is the backfire g3 worth the extra 200 over the g2 if I'm not worried about the few miles of range difference? And how does backfire customer service and quality control compare to exway?
Hi mate welcome Backfire is nice but you do a pay a premium for their “brand” I’d be looking at the Tynee board or even the BeastBoard viper much more bang for your buck
@@scottdaviesyoutube thanks Scott. Your reviews are great I appreciate what you do and your quick response. I'll look into them right now. Price, larger wheel options and customer service are my main priorities. Lots of crappy roads and sidewalks in my neck of the woods
between you and a few equally important reviewers, I'm grabbing this over the Hurricane, especially with VESC availability. have you tried the RS125mm? Also price? Fantastic!
Mate the Eovan is a beast so much power Yes I like the 125s they are a little harder but a lot of fun. Don’t forget my discount makes it even cheaper !!!
@@scottdaviesyoutube I'm also a 160lbs so I think I'll have not as rough a go with the 125s. If you come to NYC / New Jersey, bring comfy wheels, pot holes galore
Ok Scott. You make good reviews. I went back and fourth a million times with every video I watched of yours. You have my sub. I was between this and the Zeus and I went with this super. It boiled down to looks and the discount +free shipping (used your code). I liked the range but with both being so high I doubt I’d ever go the full range anyway. Much love brother.
Do you like this board more than the Ownboard Zeus. I'm pretty much the exact same height, weight and age as you and I'm have a hard time choosing between these two. They both look amazing. Thank you in advance and I love your videos 🤙
Hi mate It really comes down to what you want. If you want raw off the line power and a hill climb beast the Eovan is for you. If your ok with a slightly slower take off but want to hit 55kph and have 0 wobble plus awesome range the Zeus is right Both boards use SCOTTD for a discount !!
@@scottdaviesyoutube ok, cool. I'm fine with having a little bit slower takeoff to have better high speed stability. The few miles/kilometers of extra range is huge too. Looks like I'm going for the Zeus. That red carbon fiber looks so so good though. That was a huge plus for me but range and stability is more important. Thank you for your input. I really like your videos 🙂
@@scottdaviesyoutube I finally made my decision and got the Zeus ordered today. The SCOTTD code didn't work. SCOTTZ did work though 👍 Thank you for making these videos. They were a major contributing factor in my decision. Can't wait to get it! 🤙
I ordered the board with the 60T because I am not interested in high speeds. But based on what you say I will start in medium mode and adjust the power just to make sure I stay on the board. Thank you for advice.
Another great one Scott 👌. Personally I don't like the wheels indeed. Deck is nice with the reddish color. Did you test or are going to test streetsheels? Board looks like a beast. Cheers amigo 🙌🤙
@@scottdaviesyoutube hopefully they come out with new colors and designs, because a good wheel is still a good wheel 😅. Can't wait to see your intake on em 👌. Only think I'm always cringed about is the Panasonic cells. Word is, there are a lot of B grade cells out there. They told you anything about this?
Hmmmmmmm ZUES is so stable and fast (top end) Eovan is super super powerful I love both but for my ride style and weight I’d have to take the Eovan for raw torque !!
Great video! I have been re-watching all of your videos as I am in the market for my next board. Having said that how does the Eovan compare to the Bound Flash you did a few months ago? I am currently looking at the Bound / Eovan / as well as the Endeavor Pro as my next board.
The new Eovan is a beast, the Super has a lot more power over the Flash, the Flash is still a great board but the Eovan beats it on power. Plus I love the red tint Carbon on the Eovan
@@scottdaviesyoutube awesome! This makes it alot easier to narrow down, although at this point I want all the boards lol. Thanks for the reply and also your awesome videos!
It looked slightly wobbly at higher speeds a couple times in the video. Was this due to loose trucks or just not having it setup the way you like it yet?
Eovan is totally sold out at the moment plus they seem to have raised their prices with $200+. Exway atlas is great board but the battery is too small and has low range, also the motors are weaker. Right now I would go for the Meepo Hurricane.
How does this compare to the Lycaon TRX 3.0 in terms of torque and ride feel? I feel like I bought in at the wrong time with this having a larger battery, large at wheels, and VESC.
@@scottdaviesyoutube yeah I almost got the direct drive bamboo one when they offered it for $1,100. The only real conciliation is that the Lycaon is really light when comparing to other similar boards.
Hmmmm honestly The hurricane is a beautiful board… but I think the Eovan will last longer and when you get board you can up the amps to keep it a challenge (plus after my discount the Eovan is a steel)
@@scottdaviesyoutube Thanks for the reply. I am about your size and have about 1500 budget and looking for the range /performance king. Looks like the Eovan is tops from what I can see.
Great review as always. My super is 4 weeks away or so they say... i got the upgraded 175mm wheels and thanks for the discount code. Im curious of how those wheels will perform on race mode. Thanks for the review, makes me more confident about my purchase. I cant wait!
Hi mate BKB has good power, I feel the trucks are a little narrow I do like the look of the new type r but again not a super big fan of the deck or narrow trucks Personally I prefer the Eovan,
honest question, do people really need that amount of power and torque on an electric skateboard? Unless you're actively racing or living in a town full of hills, it just seems more of a safety hazard and higher risk than anything else.
I own the Eovan Carbon Pro (previous model to the one reviewed here). Having been chased by two aggressive dogs, the torque and speed were much appreciated. I've also used that torque for getting around cyclists. Granted the Eovan GTS Super has upped the ante on torque/speed, I'm excited to receive mine and start learning how to ride it effectively 'cause you just don't know when you'll need that 'extra kick' for a situation.
Power's like money, never too much only not enough. LOLz but seriously though, one doesn't have to use it. Luckily eboards have different power modes so one can use or not use all that power.
You have to have more power available than you normally use, because there are cases where you will need it. Carrying some heavy load, beating a particularly steep hill, having to avoid a car that is coming your way at situations where hard-breaking would be more dangerous, and of course knowing you can get your little adrenaline fix every now and then, when you judge it's safe to do so.
Dang this board looks awesome… but I just bought a Meepo Hurricane a couple weeks ago but had no idea this board existed. Can’t wait for comparisons of the two. Hopefully I made the right choice.
Awesome drop, Scott. I have a question about the bushings. I wasn't a fan of the stock bushings on my Carbon Pro (Jan 2021 edition), as I had to 'work against them' much of the time (because of tightening to reduce speed wobble) so I invested in a set of Riptide bushings and the ride is 100% better. My question is...has Eovan upgraded the bushings in any noticeable way?
@@africans1968 I put on Riptides. They're pricey but TOTALLY worth it. If you call up, you'll get Tracey or Brian and they'll ask you about your weight, riding style, board type and experience as a skater and then make a recommendation. I was sketchy about the recommendation that they made (I thought they would be too soft), but they assured me that I could return the bushings if I wanted a harder set. They were spot on. My board is a joy to ride. Looks like I'll be buying another set cause I've got the GTS Super already ordered.
Ooft! What a beast. The price really surprised me! Question mate, what action camera are you using??? Been keen to get one for my rides and for safety. Great vid as usual!
Wooohooo THE review is finally out! I love it. Its gonna be ma next 'muscle' board parked beside ma 'muscle' EXN right besides ma 'Stang! Muscle's good! Thanks big guy for the vid! 👍 BTW just placed order! Using your code ofcos 🤘 PS: hope you don't find this a stupid comment & won't delete it 🤣
Looks like a really solid board, would like to see how it plays with the Hurricane - as you said that was Meepo's first attempt and could use some improvements.
@@scottdaviesyoutube Great. I need to start getting my hands on some more boards to explore at some point. It's interesting to hear everyone's different perspectives
Nice one Scott, that setup looks all right. Is that deck similar width to the Evolve, looks like you have a little foot overhang which ends up uncomfortable for me on longer rides. I’m in Brisbane and watching you rip up that hill, I’ve gotta go and try Prospect Street incline.
It’s a little Wider. I do tend to ride work my heel off the edge (habit) YES !! head to prospect street it’s insane. Let me know how you go !! I’ll also take the Meepo Hurricane there and the Vestar 4x4 and time them top to bottom
I've seen a couple shots of the super and the bottom still says GTS Carbon Pro. Are those just preproduction decks they sent out to reviewers or a small oversight in production?
Hi mate yes I think so between me and my friends it’s got over 400km on it now I lend them out for that reason to get lots of km on it No issues at all !!
As many others are, still waiting for that "ultimate range test" video on the GTS Carbon Super...especially in how it compares against the Meepo Hurricane & Ownboard Zeus. Speaking of which.......... My first Esk8 (Backfire G2 Black 2020) is a fantastic "budget board", and makes for a perfect (possibly THE BEST) short-range, lightweight (approx half the weight of the three boards mentioned above) 'runabout' (my term for boards similar to the G2 Black), and I'm luvin it...but, at the same time, I'm already looking for my second board - a board whose primary 'purpose' will be "distance". Right now (as other reviewers area already aware), my "top 3" contenders consist of the Eovan GTS Carbon Super, Meepo Hurricane, and Ownboard Zeus. I'm not interested (nor can I afford) in one of those $3-6K "ultra range" boards capable of 60-100 miles...I'm looking for something in the 30-45 mile range (on 105-120mm CloudWheels, or something of similar size), which, in all likelihood, is only achievable on the two lowest speed/mode settings. I'm not concerned with "top speed" (I'm not into racing...well, except with my 1/10 scale RCs)...I just want "distance" at an 'acceptable' (12-20mph) cruising speed. One 'problem' I have is my weight - I'm currently 230lbs (tho, I'm working on losing weight, with a goal in the 180-195 range). That's part of why I went with the G2 Black (over three other two I was considering), as it has a higher weight capacity. While I prefer a TKP over a DKP, due to it being moved "stable", I am open to both kingpin designs. So...between these three boards (and others, as I am open to other suggestions), which would be my " best" option(s)? Obviously, distance is a primary concern...but, so is customer (especially US-based) support, quality (of the board, as well as electronics), braking, price, and other factors. I've posted similar comments in other channels, as well as in a few different forums, so as to (hopefully) get as much input as possible...the more information I have, the better prepared I'll be to make a decision. Any 'help' is greatly appreciated. And...with that said, time for me to go check out your "quick look"video on the Hurricane.
@@FordsFilms I just mean I don’t believe that battery is putting out 100a to support the motors asking for 100a, looks like it’s a 12s4p to the Zeus’ 13s4p (I think they’re the same cells?) Esc is maker x I thought so should handle amps plenty, battery is just low output and motors couldn’t say.
If you had to choose between Boundmotor falsh and the eovan gts super ... Wich one would you take ? I hesitate between those 2 baby for my next board.. Thanks un advance for your answer !
*I heard 3, 2, 1 and expected the Mario Kart theme* 😂 another great option, I'm likin the variety between all these boards in this form factor, Zeus, Hurricane, GTS Super... we've come a long way from "clones" to now have similar but nice differences!
Hahaha me too 🤣👌🙌🙌 Yeah, I don't know which one to go for next as well. Looks: Zeus. Innovation: Zeus (TKP setup). Torque: Aovan Super. Battery and overal performance: Hurricane
Hi mate titan looks nice. Won’t have close to the power of the Eovan it’s only running a basic 9028 Hobbywing The Eovan is Vesc with a lot more amps I have their new bamboo about to drop tomorrow (the B-one Balrog) nice board will replace the Wowgo AT2
yeah saw that on their site, would've loved to sell my Pro to get that 1. can you fit the Y socket onto the trucks without it top nut getting in the way of adjusting the bottom nut? 2. have you tested switching to reverse while moving forward as the Pro stupidly allowed you to do? 3. Panasonic are better life cycle life time wise than that other cell. I wouldn't change 4. didn't mention 2 in one I don't think.. but looks like it still is. and needs adapter for my abecs, luckily I have 5. did you test the sudden speed drop when you switch to MED from HI or whatever i has now? you sure that $1350 price is not USD.. which makes it $1882
Answers: 1) No, same as all DKP T tool can’t adjust bottom nut (super annoying) 2) Yes, you can no long switch to R while in motion 4) Yes 2 in 1 or more like 5 in 1 😂 5) Yes. You can’t change down a speed until the board is going slower than the Lowe speed (I like this) Yes, it’s USD, I only ever quote usd price 😂 still bloody cheap Cheers
@@scottdaviesyoutube I don't recall having a problem with the evolve DKP trucks on tightening them.. so basically the same price as the original only better parts, damn want to sell mine now lol
@@scottdaviesyoutube that's alguds mate thanks for pointing me in the right direction for my endeavour pro il be supporting you all the way bro you got the best videos 👍I want to upgrade but sort of dont know how anyway thanks again my friend
