I had this set 10 years ago. I have barely used it for a couple of years as a starter before moving on using regular airbrushes like Badger 100LG, Paasche Talon and Iwata HP-CP. So I would like to share my opinions. I think being a starter is the major handicap having this set as it looks a very well innovation but very hard to use and keep it clean. But even if you are an experienced user and prepare excellent paint for your brush, you will again encounter problems while cleaning it especially when switching from metallic colors to others. The best part I loved about this set was the quality of the wooden carved case, it is a premium piece. Other than this, the flexibility and wide area of usage. Everything you may need for any application comes with the box. The problem with the system is, the nozzles are made of plastic and the parts are very tiny. This effects the ease of cleaning, precision of spraying and life of the nozzles. Another problem with the system is the airbrush body have a very small mixing chamber which makes it very difficult to clean. The reliability of the body was also very poor as although it has a brilliant looking outer shell, internal construction was unexpectedly week. The part which connects the trigger to the needle chuck was plastic and it broke after a while. I had to disassemble the unit and replace faulty part with a custom made metal one. Also the air tube inside the unit broke and I had to disassemble the unit again and replace it with a perfume's spray tube. Another problem was after a while, the chrome plating started to deform at the point my which I put my thumb to hold the airbrush. I would only recommend this set if the internal construction is revised by Aztek and the user have experience with airbrushing. An inexperienced user will clog the airbrush frequently and would hate the job as a result. When I first sprayed with a Badger after Aztek, it felt like a walk in the park. Hope this helps.
Bought the very first Aztek airbrush for illustration around '89 or '90 I think. As soon as I saw it I thought "This is the future of airbrushing", and I still do. Before I used a Devilbiss Super 63E, which is still a legend, but the Aztek is easier to use and clean.
Been spraying with my Aztek all weekend. I did not realize the knob on the back was to switch between single & dual modes. Assumed it was to adjust the force of the trigger.
If you notice the picture of the kit on the outside sleeve does not match what is in the wooden box, The adaptor for the air can propellant is no longer included in the kit. Testors says that they were still using the older cover sleeves until they were used up.
+Rainer Koschnick The case seems okay, but I have to turn the cups and pull them out by the spouts. The item lists in Canada for $300 plus sales taxes (13& to 17%). Got mine on a 25% discount so it was a bit better. You did get a deal for the price you paid, delivered as well. My hobby shop asked the importer about the adaptor not being included but pictured and they got me one for no charge.
Garfield Smith After 5 minutes with a Dremel they are easy to remove, just like you can see in older videos. I don't know why they make them so tight now. The smaller edition of the case with fewer nozzles and the plastic model (470) is more expensive, $150 vs $125. The price is still valid if someone else is interested! Mine came with a note that the adapter would no longer be included.
I bought an Aztek A7778 and it leaked, they sent out a single action brush, it also leaked,, then they sent out a double action plastic,, it also leaked when I used the small cups, it leaked so bad that the ink would run down the air hose and make a puddle on the floor, very expensive,, love the idea of the design,, BUT they are so badly made,, I would not recommend one,, they will break your heart and leak ink every where, ruin clothing and carpets,,
